"Maybe there's a darkness in me too." - Kovu
NAME: Kaleb Oscar Leandros NICKNAMES: Kaleb, Leandros AGE: 20 BIRTHDAY: October 28th ORIENTATION: Straight NATIONALITY: Fantasian OCCUPATION: College student PLAYED BY: Andrew Cooper DISNEY: Kovu >> The Lion King II USER GROUP: (Reluctant?) Hero
PERSONALITY !
COCKY! Kaleb was brought up to think he’s better than everyone else, and it he does. He as an enormous amount of confidence in his own abilities, and although it is true that he’s good at a lot of things, he does often come off as arrogant. He has a tendency to point out other people’s mistakes and flaws because he feels he has some kind of right to, not due to any kind of desire to be mean. He can be quite selfish as well and does not easily put others’ needs above his own, unless it is for some greater plan that requires someone to trust him. This kind of scheming is not really in his nature, though, and he prefers honesty whenever it’s possible.
TOUGH! This is not a man who wears his heart on his sleeve – at all. He finds it difficult to express or even talk about emotions, unless that emotion happens to be anger and can be expressed through punching someone in the face. He’s not really much of a talker at all unless he has something important to say (but then again, he does consider everything he says important) – more of the strong, silent type who devotes himself to training and otherwise improving himself. Is he soft, somewhere deep down? Probably. You also probably won’t see it.
COMPETITIVE! If there is one thing Kaleb wants, it is to be the best. This desire has been pushed onto him by his mother for as long as he can remember, and it is now an integral part of who he is. Everything he does is either to improve himself somehow or just to beat someone else. Losing is not something he tolerates at all, and it makes him aggressive and mean. On the other hand, it also motivates him to train even more, and he very rarely fails in doing so. He’s quite vengeful as well, so if he is defeated, he feels the need to try again until he is successful. Giving up is not something he is familiar with.
LOYAL! There is a softer side to this young man as well, though, no matter how well he might try to hide it. For one, he is fiercely devoted to his loved ones (the few of them he has) and will do practically anything for them, even if he might not always agree with their motives. He is protective of his family as dislikes anyone saying anything rude about them, whether it is true or not. Should he allow anyone else into his heart, he would display the same loyalty and devotion towards them, and for someone he truly loves – if there is such a person – he might even be willing to change.
QUIRKS: His smirk. Oh lord, his smirk. Whenever someone says or does something stupid, he has this haughty, mocking smirk that instantly appears on his face.
LIKES: Exercising, winning, making his mother proud, competitive sports, meat, proving others wrong, his family (despite everything), smoking, politics, studying DISLIKES: Losing, “fun” games, disappointing his family, socialization for the sake of socialization, giggling, pointless humor, dogs, annoying and clingy girls, that whole ‘love’ thing
HISTORY ! Once upon a time, a wealthy, influential man met a beautiful young woman, whom he then married and had a son with. This couple were not Kaleb’s parents, but rather his aunt and uncle. His own father (or at least the man believed to be his father), Oscar Leandros, was a successful businessman, but always stood in the shadow of his much older brother, resulting in a great amount of jealousy, bitterness and anger. The woman he married, Sierra, wasn’t much better either; she was an ambitious schemer, always plotting to somehow overthrow her brother-in-law and his all too pretty wife. Needless to say, family gatherings weren’t exactly pleasant. Not that they happened all that often anyway – quite frankly, the brothers couldn’t stand each other, and their wives weren’t exactly the best of friends either.
Two children – one son and one daughter – were eventually born to Oscar and Sierra, but both parents (especially Oscar) were rather detached when it came to their children. Sierra considered made no secret of considering their son a huge disappointment, and although the daughter was clever, she was never quite good enough. There was a short while after Oscar’s brother died, leaving behind a mourning wife and a young son, that he treated his children better because he thought he’d finally done something (living) better than his brother. Sierra grew increasingly frustrated, however, and soon came to seek the company of another man. This resulted in her third pregnancy, as a DNA test confirmed, but upon discovering that she was having a son, she decided to not mention to Oscar that he wasn’t the father since this third child could, if pushed hard enough, fulfill all their wishes.
Unfortunately, about five months before Kaleb’s birth, Oscar’s sister-in-law told the authorities about some less-than-legal business deals he had been involved with. Oscar revealed the names of those he had dealt with during an interrogation, and only a few days later, he was killed for it. The authorities also got a hold of most the family’s money, leaving them almost completely broke. Sierra was devastated, and in her grief, she projected all her anger onto her brother-in-law’s wife and their son. Even more so than before, she became determined to bring them down, and practically from the day he was born, Kaleb was pushed to be the best at everything he did. He practiced martial arts, fencing and football, and in-between training, he had to strive to ensure he did well academically as well. He was also told repeatedly (as was the rest of the family) that he did not have the same father as his siblings, and would therefore have to work even harder. There was no room for making friends and having fun during his childhood, if one could even truly say he had one. The one exception to this was a young girl he once met, whom he developed a friendship with. Sierra did not approve, and the friendship was short-lived.
This general seclusion made him a bit of an outcast no matter where he went or what he did, but he was too frightened of his mother and her obsessive need for revenge to go against her wishes.
SAMPLE ! Oh, Mufasa, you’ve been up there too long! Your head’s in the clouds!
