"don't listen to anything my sister says, she's nuts." - deb
NAME: Debra Florence Fischinger. NICKNAMES: Deb, Flo, it all really depends. AGE: Twenty-one. BIRTHDAY: July 7th. ORIENTATION: Bisexual. NATIONALITY: Fantasian. OCCUPATION: Clerk at The Rabbit Hole. PLAYED BY: Lindsay Ellingson. DISNEY: Deb - Finding Nemo. USER GROUP: Quirky Friend? /idon'tknow
PERSONALITY !
INNOCENT! Deb is basically just a big kid. She can often times appear naive and childish, but she's really just never moved past a psychological age. Sure, she has gotten a bit of an education and she understands the importance of money, but there are some things she has never fully understood. She tends to not often thing negatively of people or things, and probably won't understand your drug references. She often doesn't realize that not everyone is great, and she doesn't really understand that not everyone is out to help people. She's like one of those people who label themselves as straightedge, except she honestly doesn't realize it. She's oblivious to most of her flaws, and the flaws of others. She isn't forgetful, she's just not exactly the most cultured person, and she certainly still has a lot of growing up to do. FRIENDLY! Since no one can really do any wrong in her eyes, Deb has absolutely no problem with meeting new people. Social awkwardness has never been her style, and though can appears awkward, she has no problem with socializing. She's always introducing herself with new people or initiating conversations with people she has never seen. When she sees a new customer, she instantly attempts to start up some sort of bond. She views everyone as a potential friend. When that new customer comes back, she is already thinking of them as an "usual" customer, and works to get to know them. She takes it upon herself to try and become friends with as many people as possible. Deb can't stand to see people who feel left out or uncomfortable. If she's at a social event and notices this, she will often walk over. However, she fails to realize that sometimes her upfront, outgoing way can freak people out. PROTECTIVE! Once Debra believes she has established a bond with you, rest assured that she will foster it for eternity. She respects a friendship, and will do everything in her power to ensure that you are okay. She doesn't want to lose a friend, and will actively work to ensure that your friendship still remains. Granted, she may not always realize when you are faking a smile. Still, she will work to ensure that you are happy and content. If she sees that somebody is trying to make you feel otherwise, she will stick up for you. If she is around someone who is negative about you, she will stand there are critisize them. She doesn't want to lose friends and would gladly put up with almost anything for those who are close to her. She can appear almost maternal, always fussing over everyone and trying to make sure that everyone is happy.
QUIRKS: Often believes in a false sister and exhibits delusions of seeing her, constantly looking in reflective surfaces, often humming or skipping.
LIKES: Fish, bubbles, sunshine, plaid, bright colors, being vegetarian, humming, reading, skirts, fuzzy socks, nice people, snappy dressers, roller skates. DISLIKES: The dark, grime, getting lost, holes in tights, losing electricity, cell phones, rude people, being small, people who think she's crazy, snails, the thought of eating meat, oversleeping, working out.
HISTORY !
Deb's childhood was rather uneventful, in a nutshell.
She was born. She was the youngest of four children, and always treated like the baby of the family. This was probably a main socialization factor that contributed to her current sense of innocence. She was spoken with baby talk until the age of four and a half. She was rather spoiled; being given almost anything she wanted by her parents. In a way, her parents wanted her to know that she was still important even though she was the youngest. She wasn't the smartest or the cutest or the kindest. Still, attention seemed to rotate around her oldest two siblings. Of course, it never really seemed to bother her. Her parents are still alive in well, as are all three of her siblings. She didn't witness any horrible accidents or diseases. She wasn't a victim of abuse. She was simply a normal child, living a slightly above-average life in terms of wealth and happiness. She had friends. She got decent grades. She made her parents happy, and in turn, they made her happy. Everything was fine and dandy for young Debra Fischinger, no matter how hectic the household could get with four children. She was content to be one of the kids who didn't get all of the attention, she was happy for her brothers and sister.
She eventually hit high school. That was when the delusions began, the thought of this second sister. She found out that she was originally going to be one of a twin, but the other died before birth. Florence was to be the name of her twin. It was the reason that it became her middle name. She began to have very vivid dreams that Florence had not died, and in fact, was still alive. She was placed on a strong sleep medication. Over the next nine months, these dreams manifested into hallucinations of sorts. Delusions. She would catch glimpses of who she thought was Flo, only to turn around and realize that this was not the case. She tried not to tell people, but sophomore year, it came up. Her parents instantly decided that their daughter was some sort of nut job, and began to take her to sessions with a therapist. Nobody could really figure out why it was that the concept of Florence became so large in her mind. There was a theory that her parents had neglected her, and that Flo took their place. It was also thought that she was seeing Flo due to the sleep medication. She began to take more medication to counter the effects. Of course, she was still able to maintain a grasp of reality. She understood most of what was there and most of what wasn't. She managed to make friends throughout high school.
Freshman year, she fell into a group of friends who could be easily described as the "misfits." They were led by a junior named Greg, a marine biology major. She found a home with them and accumulated the role that was almost like a mother. She wasn't the most nitpicky of the group, but she was always the one to try and make everyone feel like they were at home and accepted. They called themselves the Tank Gang, a reference to the fact that they often hung out in the lobby of the marine biology department, which housed a large saltwater fish tank. Things were fine for the rest of the year, with the group unchanging. They continued to bond and grow close as a family. Sophomore year, a new kid joined them. His name was Ned. Greg instantly liked Ned. Ned was still reluctant to be a real college student, and he was always getting home sick. Debra worked extremely hard to cheer him up, and he was one of the few people who actually figured out the story behind Deb and her delusions. He supported her, though he was wary of her. Still, by the end of sophomore year, things were happy once more. Once Greg graduated, though, the Tank Gang disbanded. Deb lost interest in school, and dropped out.
