"'Girl'? 'Girl'? If it wasn't for this 'girl', you would still be in the Horned King's dungeon." - Eilowny
NAME: Elin Wynnifred Llyr NICKNAMES: Some people call her Lin, but her names real short anyway, that people tend to call her that. Of course, there are the more unusual names, such as Chatterbox, Short Stack, Blondie, etc.. AGE: 19 BIRTHDAY: September 14th ORIENTATION: Heterosexual NATIONALITY: Welsh OCCUPATION: Student at Thomas College/busgirl at Flo's diner PLAYED BY: Mak Weinman DISNEY: Eilonwy/The Black Cauldron USER GROUP: Royalty
PERSONALITY !
STUBBORN! Lin does not like being told she can't do something. Weather you tell her she can't because it's too dangerous, or it's not something a girl should be doing (which is, in her mind, the worst possible reason one can't do something), or whatever reason you have, she's not going to be happy. In fact, she'll often attempt to prove one wrong by doing exactly what she was told she couldn't do. Granted, this attitude has gotten her into a bit of trouble. It's usually not bad enough for her to need assistance getting out, though there have been such instances. She's also pretty stubborn in her thoughts and believes. Once she's made up her mind, that's how it is. It's rather difficult to get her to change it. She's not one to attempt to shove her throats down one's throat. However, don't expect to her stay silent, even if it's hardly possible.
SENSITIVE! Despite the fact that Elin is a quick and witty girl, dishes out some rather harsh insults, and has been known to she's not the kind who can easily take similar insults. In fact, it's rather easy to make Lin upset. The right words, or wrong depending on your point of view, or the right tone, can quickly put her to tears. She's not the type to let it show though, as she finds crying a sign of weakness and refuses to be saw as such. Instead, she holds back her tears, waiting until she can be alone, or will run off to cry in private. Of course, there are some people she has no problem crying in front of, and will do so. This is especially the case if it is their fault that she was reduced to tears. However, in most instances, she finds it best to hold her head up high and act as if nothing is bothering her.
However, she's not only very in tune with her own emotions. Lin is also very good about sensing problems within the people she's close to. That's not to say that she knows exactly what's bothering them, but that she knows something is. Seeing as she can't stand having her friends down in the dumps (their far too boring in such a state, and she wouldn't want them to do anything drastic), she tries to talk them through it and help.
FIGHTER! Despite Lin's very delicate exterior, this young lady knows how to put up a fight. When it comes to her friends, family, or just about anyone that looks defenseless, Lin doesn't play around. You mess with one of them, you better believe that she's going to try to defend them, weather it be physically, or through a mere stern talking too. Despite the fact that Lin loathes her family's values and her friends drive her insane, there's not a thing in the world she wouldn't do for them. In fact, many times, one could say that she cares about the people important in her life more than her own safety. The situation could be the most dangerous thing one could think of, but Lin would still try to save their butts. Lin's not afraid to help a stranger either. She doesn't see why anyone should put up with another persons crap when they're smaller, and she tries to help people in such situations out, even if it does mean getting bruised or otherwise injured.
TOMBOY! Lin had always been a tomboy. When other little girls where inside playing "princess dress-up tea party" with their stuffed animals, Elin was outside wrestling in the mud and such. In the transition from little girl to teenager, Lin was still one of the guys. She had never really gotten into the idea of dressing up to go to school (a pair sweatpants and a tee shirt is good enough for her) or wearing makeup. Unlike many girls, she also isn't into the idea of having a boyfriend. She doesn't want to be tied down to anyone. There's still so much to do and see. Lin hardly needs someone who's going to try to hold her down. She also continues to partake in activities that generally guys partake in. She's the girl that gives them a run for their money in those violent video games, and she's always up for a quick game of football. She does have her quirks when it comes to this as well though. Having grown up in a household with rather traditional views, some of them rubbed off on her.
ADVENTUROUS! Even from a very young age, Lin had always thought that there was so much in this world to do, and she has almost always been determined to do it all. Lin has always been a very curious and thrill-seeking person. She loves the idea of taking risks and doing thrilling things. She's not afraid of doing new things. In fact, she loves it. However, some of the times it doesn't work out to her benefit. Granted, she hardly ever thinks things through once her adventurous streak butts in. This reckless nature, if you can call it that, has led to things such as broken bones and the like. But don't think that'll stop her. She keeps on going. Remember dears, that the world is full of adventures, and Lin has few desires greater than to experience as many as possible.
QUIRKS!never seen without a flashlight, uses many odd similes in many of her conversations, speaks very fast, has a necklace she refuses to take off, bites lip/nails when nervous, threatens to stop speaking to her friends often, acts out the stories she tells, always has more hair ties than one would deem necessary, introduces her self using her full name.
LIKES: exploring (especially places she's not supposed to be in), talking fencing, being right, learning new words, being outdoors, climbing trees, the idea of magic, horses, swimming, cooking/working in the kitchen making new friends, sewing, sarcasm, hanging with the guys, walking around barefoot (especially in the grass), goofing off. DISLIKES: being told she's good at something for a girl, having to act like a lady, being yelled at, frogs, being jumped out at, sexism, rude people, soggy pillows, overly fluffy pillows, silence, arguing with her friends, being lonely, being thought of as weak, stuffy or windowless rooms, being told she can't do something,"I told you so".
HISTORY !
Once upon a time, there was a girl named Anna. Anna was the daughter of a rather wealthy businessman. Anna wasn't at all your typical rich girl. She was very stubborn and despised most of the preppy girls she went to school with. She wasn't a big fan of the traditional role she was supposed to play too much either. However, it didn't stop her parents from trying to force her into such a role. As she had reached a proper dating age, Anna's parents constantly attempted to set her up with the son of the own of the business they were dealing with at the moment. All of them were the same, and it was driving the young woman insane. She wanted something different, and she certainly had no plans of living with someone for ever because her parents asked her too.
While on a little outing with a group of friends, Anna met Grant, a young man much different from the others that had been thrust upon her. He didn't try any fancy tricks, and was capable of intelligent conversation, something the others couldn't seem to grasp the concept of. The two started to spend more and more time together, at the dismay of her parents of course. They had deemed the relationship between the two unacceptable. However, the pair continued to spend time with each other, until it became more than just a friendship. Somewhere along the road, it had turned into the love she had longed for.
Eventually, she was free from her parents, and was able to make her own decisions. She and Grant had both decided to go to college together, and found themselves far away from home. However, things took a turn for the worse however when Anna found herself pregnant. It had happened during a party. She and her love had a little fun, which turned into a lot of fun, which decided to come back and bite her in the butt. Here's where the problem occurred. Not only did she not have the slightest clue how to raise a child, she also didn't have the time or the money. With that in mind, she made the heartbroken decision to put her baby girl up for adoption. Sooner, rather than later, she found a couple that was willing to adopt her child, under her two conditions. The first was that she got to name her child, and the second was that the child kept her last name. They agreed to this, and a few months later, Anna gave birth to her little girl, who she named her daughter Elin Wynnifred Llyr.
As a child, Lin was very happy. She loved her family. Her mother and father were great to her, and she adored her older brother. The two were rather close when they were younger, always playing around. Elin had very few complaints, despite the fact that she was constantly getting hurt. It didn't matter. Though. It was much more fun than the activities her adoptive mother wanted her to partake in. While her mother wasn't thrilled that she was far more interested in playing guy games than sitting around in a frilly pink dress, she was rather pleased with their family, and the fact that the blonde was happy with her life.
As Elin starting school, she had few problems. She made friends quickly and was a generally great student. Her temper got in the way a few times, and her tendencies for getting into trouble were not helpful in the slightest. However, things were still going good.
It was in fifth grade she discovered the first of her four loves, that being swimming. She was talking to one of her friends, when they had mentioned being on a swim team. Lin decided she wanted to join. It was then that she fell in love with swimming. In sixth, she discovered her second. That love would be fencing. She had discovered that one during gym. She found herself to be rather good at it. Her love of cooking was discovered in high school. She often found herself cooking when their parents were still at work. Her final love was also discovered in high school.
When Elin was in ninth grade, she found her birth mother. After a long conversation with her, she found out all about her background and her heritage. When she learned where she came from, she found herself learning all she could about her culture. Eventually, she found herself a book all about speaking Welsh. It was an odd find, but she loved it. Elin soon found herself speaking the language, using it whenever she felt the need. She used it especially when she was sounding particularly evil. Her speaking Welsh would be her final love.
Throughout high school, she tried very hard to make sure she could get into college. A few years earlier, her older brother had made his way to Thomas College in Fantasia. As she missed his influence in her life, Elin decided that's where she wanted to go. Being accepted there was one of the happiest days of her life. Her freshman summer, she packed her bags and moved into a dorm room. Currently, she attends Thomas College. She's made herself a good chunk of friends, and is very happy with where she is at her life.
SAMPLE !
Oh how Jezebelle loved the those few days when the moon was vacant from the night sky. She loved the idea of total darkness, expect for the dim light of the stars. But there was more to it than the total darkness that engulfed her. You see, during that time, she was able to be more close to Achlys, the goddess that was more of a mother to Jez than her real mother. She was able to "publicly" profess her love and admiration, by way of a scared ritual, and was allowed an added closeness to the goddess. Why the air-quotes, that aren't really air-quotes, around publicly? Simple my pet. The New Moon rituals practiced by the mist fledglings were hardly public. They were like fight club, as it was a rule: one was not to discuss the rituals with anyone, weather they be of Nyx or Achlys. They were invitation only events, the mark of Achlys the invitation. They were even held in a somewhat hidden place on the grounds of the House of Night. Why all this secrecy though? Again, an easy question to answer. The rituals the group preformed were classified as black magic. But public or not, Jez still loved the added closeness that came with it, absent from the homage she paid every evening.
With such a ritual so loved and respected by the young woman, it only made sense she put extra care into making sure everything was perfect. She had, earlier, put someone in charge of making sure their spot was purified and that the ointment was ready. Now she had to take care of making sure she was perfect. A long shower was the start of this, as she tried to remove the dirt and grime that she considered a physical imperfection, making her unworthy of Achlys' love. Finishing with that, she wrapped a total around her body and her hair, helping it dry quicker. On her bed was a dark dress, and the velvet cloak she was required to wear for the event. Sliding into the dress, she pulled the cloak over her mostly bare shoulders, and tied it together so that it would still hang the way it was supposed to, but would stay in place. Jez unwrapped her hair, blow drying it for a few minutes so it would be completely dry. Running her hand through her curled tresses, she checked herself out in her mirror, before applying a minimal amount of make-up. One final look in the mirror, and she decided she was good to go. Sliding on the heels set aside for these events, she said goodbye to Medusa, the snake that had chosen her shortly after being marked, and headed out the door.
Arriving at courtyard, she gave everything a good look over. It looked like everything was set up as she had asked. This was good. It seemed to not happen enough. Granted, when it came to the rituals, Jezebelle was a very picky vampyre: nothing could be even an inch off of where she said she wanted it. Everything had to be perfect though. They way she saw things, if it wasn't perfect, it wasn't worthy, and if it wasn't worthy, it wouldn't happen, which would anger Achlys, leading to her doing something drastic. Or so Jez thought. She had a great love and respect for the goddess, but she also had a fear of her. The mortal woman was very well aware of the power Achlys had, and wouldn't want to anger her in fear that she might release her anger on the dark-haired girl. So it had to be perfect. Going through the check list one more time, she ointment-ed her own mark. Sure, there was someone doing it, but she preferred to do her own. It was a habit. Before there were a ton of fledglings, the woman was in charge of everything, and therefore applied the ointment on everyone, herself included. Having been ointment-ed, she walked over the pyre, where the center of the circle was, and took her position for the opening of the ritual. All she had to do now was wait for everyone to get there, and hope that no bumps would occur in the road ahead.
