"I have had it with you and your emotional constipation!" - Tantor
NAME: Teresa Sylvia North NICKNAMES: Terri, Ter, North AGE: 25 BIRTHDAY: June 18th ORIENTATION: Straight NATIONALITY: British OCCUPATION: Works as a delivery girl PLAYED BY: Erica Durance DISNEY: Terk ~Tarzan USER GROUP: Side kick ?
PERSONALITY !
LOUD! Growing up in a house with five guys, Terri was constantly fighting to be heard, and as a result, she is very loud and outspoken as an adult. Nothing stops her from voicing her thoughts, and woe betide anyone who tries to tell her to 'shut up'. If she has an opinion of someone, good or bad, she'll tell them straight without really considering possible consequences. Teresa finds awkward silences unbearable, and will break them if she is faced with one. Despite being physically able, she will tend to argue with her mouth rather than her fist. She can seem somewhat irritating and rude to those that aren't used to her, and is known to be a smart alec, too.
STUBBORN! If she wants to do something, chances are Teresa North will do it, with or without permission. If the idea is in her head, it isn't going to leave because someone else wants it to, even if she knows herself that it isn't a very good idea. Terri will stick to the choices she makes, even though she isn't always happy to accept the aftermath of them later. Her stubborn nature comes from constantly clashing with her father and brothers- none of the family are known for stepping down in an argument, including Teresa. She is not willing to compromise her own beliefs for anyone, and isn't afraid of showing it. Her stubborn nature again means she can often come off as rude to people, and it's rare for her to apologise for it.
INDEPENDENT! Teresa has learnt over the years to rely on herself, and herself alone. Though she is happy to be in the company of other people, she is not willing to let herself need anyone. At all. Ever. Relationships have never been her strong point, and after a few past experiences, she has set herself in the mindframe that they are pointless, at least for her, and has a cynical view of romance in general- as well as most other relationships between people. Teresa is unwilling to let her family support her financially, prefering to try and manage alone rather than accept their help when she does need it.
LOYAL! If a friend of Terri's is upset or in trouble, she'll be there, ready to kick whoever crossed them's ass, no questions asked. When she feels a friend needs to know something, she's more than willing to tell them, even if the news is bad. There are few people she trusts, but if you happen to be one of them, she's willing to do mostly anything for you. Teresa doesn't take two-faced people lightly, especially if they're talking about a friend behind their back, and won't hesitate to let them know what she thinks of them. If a secret needs to be kept, she'll take it to the grave.
TOUGH! Having to live with four brothers and her father definitely didn't make Teresa a sissy. Knowing that no one was going to listen to her unless she could get them in a headlock, she grew up very much a tomboy, constantly fighting with her brothers and the boys that lived near them. She is a blackbelt in taekwando- a skill she uses to her advantage when needed. As well as being physically strong, Terri can be considered tough emotionally too- pretty much no subject is taboo for her, and there is very little that bothers or offends her. But when you do offend her, look out, as she doesn't take it lightly.
QUIRKS: When she's nervous, Teresa tends to play with the ends of her hair, or bite her fingernails- a habit she is trying to kick. If faced with an awkward silence, she usually begins to ramble, often about herself or something that has annoyed her. She often lip-sings to songs if she is listening to her iPod, and sometimes just sings along anyway, without realising it. Even though she's rebellious, she doesn't particularly like getting into trouble about it- because it just causes more arguments. She speaks with a weak north english accent.
LIKES: junk food, dogs, winter, thunderstorms, comedy movies, sleeping, reading crime/sci-fi novels (and comics), hiking, driving her motorcycle, loud music DISLIKES: cooking, housework, uncomfortable silences, romantic movies, seafood, getting stuck in traffic, people who spend all their time with their partner, arguing with her father/grandparents, daytime television, liars
HISTORY !
Teresa was born in the north of England, to Clark and Sylvia North. Her father owns his own company, NorthAir, an air travel business. Her mother passed away when Terri was two years old, after a long on-and-off battle with cancer. Being the youngest of five children, Teresa was never going to have it easy as far as family arguments went. Add in the fact that her older siblings all happened to be male, and a lack of female influence, and you have one of the main reasons why Teresa grew up to be the person she is today.
As a child, Teresa was somewhat rebellious and caused a few porblems for her father, who eventually shipped her off to a boarding school when she was eleven, hoping it would straighten her out a little. When she was thirteen, she was expelled for fighting, and her father agreed to let her attend a local co-ed school instead, which led to her getting into even more fights- one of which left her with a broken arm, leading her to take up taekwondo. During her school days, she tended to hang around with guys more than girls, further shaping her into a tomboy.
Once she left compulsary education, she moved from job to job, struggling to find something she both enjoyed and could actually do well enough to earn money for it. Several failed attempted relationships taught her that she was better off alone, and she became more and more independent, eventually moving to Fantasia City with nothing but her motorcycle (which she bought with part of her college fund) and a rucksack of her belongings, looking for a new start in life, away from everyone she knew.
In Fantasia, Teresa struggled at first, but eventually found a job she could just about bear, working a desk job at a publishing agency, and a cheap little single-storey house to rent until she could afford her own place. Her father eventually tracked her down, but she refused to return home, or take any money from him. Her brothers also payed seperate, unnanounced visits on their dad's wishes, but most of them realised their little sister was serious this time.
Three years after moving to Fantasia City, Teresa has settled in fairly well. She's still at the same, ever-so-slightly boring job; but has managed to find a few people she trusts in the city- and she's rattled some people's cages, too. She hasn't spoken to any of her family in about eighteen months, and intends to keep it that way.
SAMPLE !
Brilliant. Seriously, this was just fantastic.
For the third time in a week, Teresa North was staring at a blank screen on her computer, instead of the report she'd just been writing for her boss. The report which was five pages long and needed to be on the woman's desk in about an hour. Cursing under her breath, she furiously checked the connections of the cables, hoping to God that one of them had just slipped out, and the report was still intact. No such luck.
Flicking the machine back on, she frowned to herself. She wasn't even sure why she was in this dead-end job in the first place. It had been somewhat fun at first, she admitted. Not anymore. The computer monitor lit up again and she scowled. Her report was gone. Typical. She glanced around briefly. The office was mostly empty, almost everyone had already clocked off for the day. She could probably just slip out unnoticed, she reasoned, and explain what happened tomorrow. Luckily for her, her boss wasn't exactly tech-savvy either, and she'd probably accept Teresa's excuse.
Smiling to herself, Terri grabbed her things and pulled on her coat, briskly heading out of the door and down the stairs, bounding down them two at a time with her bag in one hand and her helmet in the other. Once she was in the building's car park, she mounted her bike and pulled the helmet over her hair, which she'd already tied back in preperation. Kicking the vechicle into gear, she sped out of the building and onto the road, smirking as a car behind her honked after she'd overtaken them to make it through a light before it turned red.
By the time she was home, it had started raining heavily. Parking her bike under the shelter she'd built at the side of the house, she rushed inside, pulling off her coat and helmet in one swift motion, and then letting her hair down and kicking off her shoes. She glanced at the pile of mail on the floor. Most of it was bills, and she sighed, walking away. That could be dealt with later. Making herself a mug of coffee, she stared out of the window silently, before glancing at the clock on the other side of the room.
"Ah crap!" the woman muttered, quickly downing her coffee and tossing the mug into the sink- wincing as she heard a cracking sound but not bothering to check it. Pulling off her shirt, she desperately began to root through her wardrobe for something to wear.
