stop there and let me correct it , i wanna live a life from a new perspective Toys. Such a childish thing and yet... something that Luce couldn't help but look at whenever she passed them in the store, in the bazaar, or when she was out shopping her favorite place to stop was Flaversham's toy store. It was almost always packed and there was almost always a line to get in and or pay to get out. She didn't mind it, though. She loved braving the wild packs of children, overly confident mothers, and everyone else who frequented the popular toy shop. Pulling her scarf around her neck a bit more, Luce wiggled her way into the building, already regretting pulling the scarf tighter. It was about thirty more degrees in the shop than it was outside.
She pulled the scarf from around her neck and jammed it into her shoulder bag which was holding her books and notebooks from classes that morning. Ruffling her hair a bit, Luce meandered down the aisles - scanning the shelves for any new toys that caught her interest. Something that John or Michael might like. Possibly even Edward. It always astounded her that the people she surrounded herself with would be more interested in toys than anything that should interest people of their age. She was at the toy shop so much, the owner knew her by name. He didn't give her a discount, though, which was saddening. She was a poor college student after all, she didn't have a lot of money to be blowing away on toys.
"Ooh....this is neat..." Luce picked up a toy, examined it, and then decided to buy it. She stood in line, holding the toy, fiddling with it. Who should she give it to? John would like it, no doubt, but Michael hadn't gotten anything in awhile. Then there was Edward who would be thankful for it regardless, but Luce wasn't sure if he would use it or keep it in the back of his closet somewhere. She could keep it for herself, but Luce had a feeling it would sit in the back of her closet. Well. Whatever. Luce purchased the nice trinkety toy and then left the shop with bag in hand.
Her mind was obviously elsewhere, which was probably why she ran straight into somebody. A squeak of surprise escaped her and the bag flew from her hands, turning over itself countless times before landing on the ground. There was a sickening shattering sound and Luce felt her heart drop, "Oh, no.. my toy..." Her voice was dismayed as she moved to pick up the bag and opened it to peer inside. Sure enough, the toy was in pieces. "Teaches me to buy something that's glass," Luce sighed and looked up at the person she had collided with. She paused, her mouth slightly agape, and then she snapped it shut as she realized who this was; "Peter Patkins."

[atrb=border,0,true][atrb=width,320,true] Hang overs were the worst. The redheaded young man roamed the streets rather aimlessly as he looked at his feet the whole time. Occasionally, his rather broad shoulders were slam into a passing pedestrian, cause them to get huffy, before he ventured on. Peter lived rather carefree, not really stopping to care what other people thought of him. He did things on his own terms and never really bothered to pay much attention to the terms of others. He wanted to spread the careless spirit to those around him, but very few really indulged in it. No matter really, he didn't care. He chewed on the edge of his thumbnail, his coat swaying in the breeze with each step he took. He felt a sting of pain as he tore flesh from his hand, and tasted the crimson metallic taste of blood as it shot into his mouth. Gross. He groaned, looking at the fresh hangnail wound he caused himself before he realized he wasn't paying much attention to where he was going. He was so used to slamming into people, or them stepping around him, he didn't think that someone was going to collide right into him.
He grunted, reaching his hands out to the girl to steady her as his palms seemed to cup her elbows gently. He looked down at the sound of glass shattering and dread washed over him. Carefree or not, he didn't want to break anything that belonged to someone when he was simply just walking around. Sure, he has vandalized things, stolen things, but he never really purposely broke anything like this. He listened to the sound of her voice before looking to see her face. A face he recognized. Luce Darling. The sister to one of his best mates. He watched as snowflakes breezed into her golden locks as she bent down to see the shattered toy in her bag. When her deep, doe eyes met his, he felt something inside him shake. The girl was intensely dull at times, yet he couldn't deny the attraction to her. She was gorgeous. However, the way she said his name was hardly enthralling or happy to see him. It seemed a little malicious.
Brilliant.
He put on a brave face as he tilted his head to the side, looking at the broken toy before shoving his hands into the pockets of his jeans. Should he apologize or just play it off like he didn't care. Hard it been any other women, he would have apologized on the spot in an attempt to get to first base at least with her. That was just how his brain was wired. "Luce Darling. Sorry 'bout that, you should be more careful next time." |

stop there and let me correct it , i wanna live a life from a new perspective Luce's jaw dropped again and instantly an infuriating knot in her stomach grew. She snapped her jaw shut again and was irritated at the click it made. "I should? You're the one walking around like a big.. big.." Luce made a very frustrated sound and then pushed the bag with the smashed toy at Peter, "The least you could do is buy me a new toy, Peter." Truth was, Luce didn't want anything from Peter Patkins. He was incredibly frustrating to her. Constantly carefree, or careless -depending on how you saw it, and always going about as if he didn't have to answer to any responsibilities.
Perhaps part of Luce envied that about him. After all, she couldn't decide whether or not she wanted to answer to any of her responsibilities as it was. Maybe she wanted to be as carefree as him (but certainly not as careless). She wouldn't ever admit it to anyone, especially not Patkins. She hadn't liked him much since her brother had started hanging out with him. In fact, she very much disliked the fallacies and fantasies he put into John's head. But she had kept her opinions to herself, as always, and let her younger brother go about his life in his own way. Even if it did include someone as...someone like Peter Patkins.
Okay, so perhaps he was incredibly good looking. And maybe several girls were right in falling to pieces whenever he came around. But despite him being gorgeous, he really was just a big pain in the ass. Luce would have told him as such, too. If she wasn't so bloody nice. Raising her eyebrows, Luce tilted her head in a rather annoyed manner, "Unless you go about ramming into girls on a regular basis, I suggest you apologize to me and either fix that toy or buy me a new one. It's the civilized thing to do, after all." Perhaps she shouldn't have used the term "ram," but she was flustered and it fit what she wanted to get across. Even if now all she could think about was Peter..actually ramming into girls.
Fantastic.

[atrb=border,0,true][atrb=width,320,true] To deny the fact that all of this was utterly entertaining would be wrong. The way her face got all tight and angry, how her cheeks reddened to almost the degree of his hair color was actually endearing. She may throw insults at him constantly, but it all rolled off his back as if it never happened. He didn't care what hurtful things she tried to say, it wasn't like Luce Darling was particularly witty when it came to insults and come backs. She got to flustered, and it made it that much better to him. However, at the sight of the broken toy he felt a sudden twinge. It was actually kind of cool, and he helped destroy it. Well shit. He slowly took the bag from her, his large palm grasping at it as he looked down at the demolished glass. Then he listened as she practically ordered him to purchase her a new one. On the one hand that would be the polite, nice thing to do for her. On the other, why the hell should he give a damn about a broken toy anyway? It wasn't like she was his girlfriend or something. He didn't owe her anything. So a scoff escaped his lips as she seemed to go off on him. But then she spoke again, and it made all of it seem worth it as a devilish smirk curved his lips.
"Unless you go about ramming into girls on a regular basis, I suggest you apologize to me and either fix that toy or buy me a new one. It's the civilized thing to do, after all."
The towering young man seemed to step closer to Luce, his hand gripping the bag closed as he dipped his head down a bit. He licked his lips before he slowly looked back up at her, allowing his icy blue eyes to connect with her warm brown ones. "Ramming, eh? Dear me, Miss Darling, have you been spying on me? I never fancied you as the peeping type, my lord." |
He teased rather ruthlessly as he raised the bag a bit before he reached over and grasped a hold of her arm and started to pull her back toward the toy store. "But you're right, it is the least I could do." He snorted as he tugged her lightly back into the store and simply shoved through the other shoppers not caring if it hurt them or bothered them. He then moved them into an empty aisle and turned back to her with a small laugh. "So show me where your stupid toy is, love."

stop there and let me correct it , i wanna live a life from a new perspective Oh, no, Luce. He's not going to let that one just slide on by. You really should keep your mouth shut whenever frustrated. Goodness only knows what comes out of it. Luce berated herself silently as Peter took her slip up and ran with it. She caught her breath as he stepped closer to her, having to tilt her head up a bit in order to keep eye contact with those incredibly blue eyes. Swallowing, Luce reminded herself of how big of a cad he was and forced herself to get over any other thoughts she may be thinking. "I... Uhm.... That is..." Stumbling over her words, it was usual for Luce when she was nervous, anxious, excited, or upset. But Patkins didn't need to see it. She liked to believe that she looked somewhat collected and put together, but she knew that wasn't true. She just hated that Patkins was now aware of it.
"Oh!" Luce exclaimed as his hand wrapped around her arm and dragged her away. He wasn't hurting her, although the vindictive part of her wanted to accuse him of doing just that. But knowing him, he'd probably get a rise out of it. So, obediently she followed, keeping stride with him as he shoved through the crowd violently. People gave her glaring looks, and all Luce could manage was a small apologetic smile and a few, "I'm so sorry. Please, excuse us. Pardon us." Finally, Peter stopped and turned to face her. Luce pulled her arm back, rubbed it gently where his hand had been, and sent him a rather harsh look before reaching just past him and picking up another of the glass trinkets she had picked up.
Having to reach past him meant she had to step a bit closer to him, which Luce detested but didn't step back once she had gotten the toy. Instead, she offered it to him silently, her eyebrows raised in a rather impatient manner. It was strange, normally Luce was incredibly calm, patient, and caring. But Peter Patkins brought out the worst in her, and she hadn't even met him before now. Perhaps it was the fact that she knew what he was like, or the fact that she disliked the influence he had over John. Whatever the case, Luce hated that Peter brought out an awful side in her...and there wasn't anything she could. "Please," she stated coldly, "Try not to break this one, Wonder Boy."
