It was bright and early in the morning and it still surprised Johnathan Darling at how early he could get up. It had to be at least nine in the morning on a Saturday no less! He guessed he woke up partially because he was so excited to hang out with Luce, his older sister. Ever since she had left the family and moved out to her own flat, life had been a bit depressing for the seventeen year old boy. If anything, he should be excited since he'd be moving out soon too but he really wasn't all that excited. He preferred staying at the Darling home whether or not he had to take on the responsibilities given to him by his mother. Cleaning his room always sucked and washing dishes sucked more but somehow by the end of the task, he had created a game to make him be done faster. That in itself seemed a good enough reason as to why he wasn't mature enough to leave home but John Darling didn't care. He'd probably just move in with Luce anyhow. Getting up out of his bed, Johnathan searched through his room for clean clothes, sniffing a few shirts to make sure they didn't stink. Somehow the sniff test always just worked when he was on the run. He shrugged on some old pirate t-shirt of his and suddenly got a great idea. John Darling dug through his drawer until he found an eye patch, grabbed the wooden sword he kept by his bedside, slid on some pants and shoes, and ran out the door before his mother could say anything.
And suddenly Fantasia City turned into Fantasia Cove, the homeland of pirates and their many enemies. Just like that Johnathan Napoleon Darling turned into Captain Glass Eye, the meanest and cruelest captain of them all. He slid the eyepatch over his eye making sure it fit easily under his round glasses, gripped the sword in his right hand and jumped onto a nearby log. "Arrr! No man can stand the wrath of Cap'n Glass Eye!!" Though seventeen and nearly a man, John found much more entertainment in life as a pirate. He would've dragged his youngest sibling along, Michael, but that day was Michael's day to stay with their mother. He suddenly puffed out his chest, pointed in the direction of Luce's flat and shouted to no one in particular, "Onward me mateys! Tis time for the pursuit of Lady Darling herself!" His mind created a handful of grown men with tattered clothes, nodding in their approval of the ship setting sail. And to John Darling or Cap'n Glass Eye rather, the ship moved forward at a slow but steady pace. In no time, they'd reach Island Luce where Lady Darling resided. Cap'n Glass Eye and his minions had to invade the island and take all things valuable like pirates did.
It didn't take him too long before he reached the door to his sister's flat. "Argh! We've made it! Here it is, Island Luce! Now men. I want ye to take all the booty ye find and leave no mercy!" He snapped his wooden sword as if he were telling someone to forward march, his imagined minions heading in said direction. John Darling snapped back into his real self as he realized he couldn't just barge in because more than likely Luce had the door locked. Dropping the sword down to his side, he knocked gently on the door, putting on his captain's voice to hurry his sister along. "You be having guests, Lady Darling. Open up or the mates on me ship will invade this place ye like to call home!" He was kidding, of course and he was pretty sure his sister had been around him long enough to realize just that.

Luce had spent the morning cleaning her flat. It never got incredibly messy. Luce was a neat person, and organized. But whenever she had planned company she tended to go through an OCD moment and have to clean everything. Her brother was coming over today and even though she knew it would just get torn up into a disaster zone once Luce and John were finished with whatever activities they decided to do, Luce had gotten up at six to get ready and clean from floor to ceiling. She had baked some cookies and was now lounging about on the couch nibbling on her fifth one. They would be all gone if John didn't hurry up. They were good cookies, Luce did well.
Hanging with her brother was bound to wear her out, and she was lucky she didn't have early classes in the morning or work until after six. She loved her brothers, she really did, they made her feel loved and wanted and they always made her laugh. But with how she had been thinking lately, she wished they (John in particular) would grow up just a bit. But then again, part of her wasn't wanting him to grow up either. He kept her as a child and she didn't know where she wanted to go just yet. For today, she wanted to be a kid. John would provide that. Luce jumped about a foot high, dropping her cookie, when her younger brother's voice bellowed into her apartment. She giggled, snatched the cookie up and tossed it on the plate before she jumped from the couch and hurried to the door.
"Never! Ye shall not enter without the word of pass!" Luce giggled again, gripping the doorknob and deadbolt with two hands, waiting for a second before sliding the deadbolt open and pulling the door back. "Or, well, at least not without a hug!" She smiled brightly and pulled him into her apartment, deftly avoiding the wooden sword he held, and wrapped her arms around him in a tight embrace. Then quickly she grabbed the wooden sword from him and held him at swordpoint, "AHA! Now ye shall walk the plank!" His jaw dropped and his heart sped up just a bit as the familiar voice demanded a password. A password!? Since when did Luce have a password to her flat? Oh no! John Darling thought quickly, his mind just about to come up with possibly the most perfect possible answer as the password when the door flew open. Oh the trickster his sister was! He smirked lightly as he noticed his sister playing along with him. See? He always knew she never meant it when she would sometimes tell him to grow up. Deep down or possibly not that deep down at all, Luce wanted to stay a kid almost as badly as he did. The only difference was that he did something about it while Luce didn't.
He scrunched up his face as he was suddenly pulled into the flat and pressed tightly into his sister's chest. Johnathan hugged back the best he could, opening his mouth to begin protesting when suddenly he felt his wooden sword leave his side. Oh no! The young man tried to react as quickly as he could but it was too late! Luce or rather Lady Darling had his sword and the tip was pointed right at his chest. He put his hands up as if in surrender, his chin tilted upward. "Aye, you've got me, Lady Darling. Ye may have tricked me but i plan on walking ye plank with a bit of dignity!" He suddenly dropped his hands, clasping them behind his back, turning on his heels so his back was to his sister and the sword. "Bested with me own sword. How embarrassin'!" John Darling shook his head, taking a few steps forward. He puffed out his somewhat toned chest, ready to "walk the plank" when the scent of freshly baked cookies went past his nose. John's eyes shot open as he glanced back at Luce. "You made cookies, Luce? Can I have some?!...and have you got any milk?..."
And just like that, he went from Cap'n Glass Eye to Johnathan Darling in a split second. It was quite astounding how quickly and easily he switched between roles but he supposed that's just what made him different than other seventeen year old lads.

Luce smiled smugly as her brother played along. That's right. She still had it. John might have thought she was losing her touch completely, but the truth was she hadn't lost it at all. She was just burying it away under all the grown up responsibilities she had to bring forward. She really didn't mean to come off as a stuffy no fun girl. It was just how it happened because of everything that she had to deal with now. She still knew how to pretend, imagine, create, and how to have fun. It was just rare that she found an opportunity to. Her brother always gave her one, though. That was something she could count on.
"I would not have expected anything less, good pirate. With dignity ye shall go!" Luce pointed the sword at him again, jeering slightly as he walked the plank. Suddenly the world fell away, the apartment became a ship, the sea was rolling beneath them, and Luce stood behind John...jeering him onward to walk the plank and fall to his wet demise. And then just as suddenly as it disappeared, it reappeared when John asked about cookies. Luce smiled, let the sword fall to her side and then nodded; "Of course I do! Come on." She grabbed his arm with her free hand and nearly dragged him into the small kitchen in her flat.
Luce set the sword on top of the counter, and then stood on her tip toes to reach up and grab two plastic cups from the cabinet. They were bright green in color and big; enough to hold quite a bit of milk for the two of them. Setting those down, she whirled around and pulled up the fridge. The milk carton she had was brand new, considering she had yet to convince herself that milk was an adult drink, and she hadn't had it. But she would be able to look over that little problem when she was with her brother. He always seemed to bring out the more childish side of Luce, even if she didn't necessarily want it.
She poured the milk into the cups and then handed one to John before nodding toward the living room, "Cookies are in the living room. We can watch some cartoons and devour them." Her smile widened across her face and she hurried into the living room, allowing her socks to skid across the carpet so when she reached over and touched John - a slight shock emitted from her fingertips and got him on the arm. Despite the fact that he had the tables turned on him and he had been about to walk the plank, Johnathan enjoyed it. It was fun, pretending that is. Plus, he missed Luce and the way she used to be before she "grew up." She had been hilariously fun, the three Darling siblings the source of mischief and laughter. What had happened to those days and why didn't Luce want to stay in those good ole days? John would give anything for Luce to return to her once playful self. Then she could join him and Michael on their crazy adventures around Fantasia.
There was honestly no real reason for Luce to drag Johnathan to the kitchen seeing as cookies were his favorite dish and he would have gone quite willingly. His stomach growled in anticipation of the chocolate chipy goodness that was awaiting him in the kitchen. He stood in the kitchen watching Luce with slight amusement as she had to get on her tip toes in order to grab the glasses. Why was that so funny? Probably because he could reach up there easily without having to boost himself at all. Regardless, he stood there, pouting slightly because he saw no cookies. Where were they? Was she tricking him with some really good smelling candle? His pout grew a bit more as he took the cup full of milk. Now she was just teasing. He grumbled gently to himself until she said the cookies were in the living room.
He shuffled over to the living room, his blue eyes concentrating on the cup of milk in his hand. He was a bit on the clumsy side and it wouldn't surprise him at all if the milk spilled or sloshed out of the cup. Hence the reason he shuffled rather than ran or walked fast. His breath was held the entire time it took him to get to the living room. It was frightening the whole trip considering the fact that John Darling wanted nothing to get on his sister's flat's carpet. A grin flashed across his face at his simple accomplishment until he felt Luce's finger zap him in the arm. He jumped slightly with mixed emotions of surprise and pain. "Ow!!! Luce!" And it was just his luck that when he jumped, some of the milk in his cup sloshed right out of it and down his hand, dripping into the carpet. "Bloody hell...I'm sorry, Luce!" A frown formed on his mouth as he set the cup down, looking for something to clean up his mess. "I didn't mean to, honestly!" Usually, only the guilty were so easily defensive but this time that wasn't the case. Johnathan had a knack for spilling things and it was also known for him to spill things on purpose. He just wanted his older sister to know that he hadn't meant to do it and that it was just a mere accident.
John Darling glanced up at Luce curiously. "How'd you even do that?...got some sort of super power and didn't tell me?"
