[atrb=border,0,true][atrb=width,320,true] Paranoid, alone, and wet, Alistair Hatter rushed down the alleyways of Fantasia City, feeling like there was someone following closely behind him as he rushed toward the safety of Allison Liddle's place. He was cold and coming down from a trip, which was something Alistair always hated. Usually, he was at home when things like this occurred, that way he could take something else to return to his normal state of mind. However, he was running low and he wasn't about to go home right now. Not like this. His toned body rushed down the streets, his hat firmly hugging the crown of his head as he moved toward a fire escape. Without hesitation, he jumped into the air and his dirt covered palms latched onto the edge with ease. He pulled himself up without issue and landed on the steps in moments. He scaled the fire escape, pulling himself up before he looked to the top of the building.
Allis's window was illuminated, despite the late night. He knew that the beautiful blonde had been having issues with her book lately, and he wished he could offer some kind of help, but he wasn't exactly the best at bouncing ideas off of. He was usually always doped up on something. In the back of his mind somewhere, Alistair understood that what he was doing was wrong. That if he continued down this path, that death was all that awaited him on the other side. But cold turkey would kill him just as quickly, if not faster.
As he scaled the building, he found himself at her window. He peered inside, seeing her there at her laptop as she stared at it with intensity. She always seemed more beautiful when her focus was transfixed. It was safe to say the drug addict was addicted to his best friend, just as much as he was to the various drugs he pumped into his veins. Only she...was something he never wanted to quit. With that, he rapped his fingers against the pane of the window. His hand tremored as he rested it against the glass, sweat seeming to bead against his flesh. He needed to get inside the warm flat, where he would be safe. From everything. Maybe even himself. |

It was getting even more difficult than Allis would like. Writing had always been incredibly easy for her. She had no issue back in the first years of her writing. But now.. now she couldn't even think of a name for her character. It was easier for her to draw. And sometimes, Allis was able to get some inspiration from her sketches. But she needed words to go along with her sketches. Words told the story, the picture just gave a vision. She didn't know why it was so hard to write carefree things. It wasn't, necessarily, that Allis wasn't writing anything. It was that she couldn't write anything happy, anything that could go into her children's book. Her life seemed to be...more dark than it had once been...and thus it was losing that child like appeal.
Allis was as curious as ever before, but that childish wonder the world once held no longer existed. Fantasia city no longer sparkled. All she saw was the dark alleys, the shady characters, and the abuse of drugs. Drugs. Allis closed her eyes and rubbed her temples gently, resting her elbows on her desk which held her laptop opened up in front of her. Maybe she was too worried about Hatter to see any childish wonder in anything. He was easily her biggest tie to the real world. She saw what happened every day with him, saw his pain, saw his highs and his lows. It was like a bloody roller coaster and Allis, well, Allis could no longer hold onto her childish zeal.
Sometimes, Allis wondered if she should just give up and join him. But.. then who would take care of the both of them? No. It was out of the question. Alistair needed her. And Allis needed to focus on this book. She drummed her fingertips on the desk, staring blankly at the blank document opened on her screen. She had nothing. Nada. Zip. Zilch. She had a drawing. Of a rabbit. A white one. But that wasn't anything new. Allison always drew white rabbits. It was a fascination she had from when she was younger.
She was so intently focused on her lack-of-writing that when there was a rapping on her window, Allis jumped nearly a mile high. Pressing her hand to her chest, she whirled around in her swivel chair and stared at the figure outside her window. Her heart pounded in her chest rapidly and then it started to slow when she realized it was Hatter. Exhaling heavily, she pushed herself up from her chair and moved to open the window for him, stepping aside so he could crawl inside. Immediately, she knew something wasn't right; "Are you okay, babe? You...look dreadful." A frown etched itself into her brow, obviously she was worried. words: 469 notes: aww. <3 she cares about him so much. tag: hatter credit: template made by me. song is "if i needed you" by emmylou harris.
