AS SHE CARRIES ON WITHOUT A DOUBT i wonder if she'll figure out that I ' M C R A Z Y F O R T H I S G I R L - - - * Christmas! Tigg friggin' loved Christmas. It was one of his favorite holidays. Probably because you got to cut down a tree, throw things on it, and call it a decoration. Hell, you even got baked goods out of the deal, too. He always had good memories from Christmas, even if he didn't like his family life at the time. Decorating the tree, eating cookies, watching cartoons. It was all a big part of his memory and he was extremely thankful for it. Perhaps that was why he enjoyed decorating the tree with Jillian so much. It felt like home memories. That and part of him just enjoyed her company. He was lucky to have her as a friend.
Who else would he traipse through two feet of snow with a box full of ornaments for? No one really. Tigg was a good friend, but very few people deserved that kind of special treatment. With his beanie on his head, covering his ears and his newly cut hair, large gloves on his hands, warm boots on his feet and a giant parka on his torso, Tigg made his way over to Jilly's and Ruth's house. He was over there a lot during the summer, what with being their landscaper and whatnot. But the winter made it more difficult for doing land things. He shoveled their driveway for them often enough, and hung out with Ruth building snowmen.
He loved those two more than life itself it seemed, and Tigg was okay with that. Jumping over a rock, he made a mental note to clear that the next time he shoveled their walkway, and continued up to the front door. Snow was coming down full force now and Tigg's nose was turning rosy. He sniffled slightly, trying to make it sound more manly and failing, and then balanced the box on his thigh as he lifted his hand to pound on the door loud enough for Jillian to hear. Taking the box back in both hands, Tigg bounced from right foot to left in hopes of generating heat as he waited for the door to open. The clinking of glass ornaments unnerved him but not enough for him to stop bopping about.

------------------------------------------- * baby, it's cold outside[atrb=border,0,true][atrb=width,355,true] The Marcille house had well and truly turned into a winter wonderland. The snow from earlier that day had blanketed the home in a coating of white. The smell of pine needles mingled with cinnamon from the cookies Jillian had in the oven. Christmas carols were playing from the stereo in the lounge room. The only thing left to do was to decorate the tree. It had been sitting bare in the lounge room for half a week now, and the large tree looked really sad without any decorations. Jillian loved her traditions though, and it was tradition not to put the tree up until it was twelve days ‘till Christmas. She knew it was nothing but a silly tradition, but it was those silly traditions that made Christmas so magical in her opinion. The only thing she needed now was someone to dress the tree with her. Because that was a task that wasn’t very fun when you are alone.
Over the years, there was never a shortage of people to help trim the tree who were willing to trim the tree. Ruth of course, and most of the time Kiara. More often than not, one Mr. Earnest Tigg was present. Doing the manly thing and un-tangling the endless string of Christmas lights and doing all the dangerous high things. Also, he usually provided a lot of laughter for the evening. A soft smile pulled at Jillian’s lips as she thought of how much Tigg could make her daughter laugh. If anyone but her real father was going to be Ruth’s role-model, Jillian couldn’t have asked for anyone better. Seeing the man interact with her daughter tugged at Jill’s heart. The woman wasn’t sure she could explain the warmth that filled her heart at the mention of Earnest. He was just.. Apart of her family.
Somehow, tonight, it was going to be just Jill and Tigg. While it was somewhat upsetting for Jillian not to be dressing the tree with her daughter, she had to admit, the idea of spending the night with Tigg was a pleasant one. While they had seen each other a lot, the pair hadn’t spent much time alone. Not that they needed time alone! She wasn’t doing anything with Jillian that she couldn’t do around her daughter. It was more that, sometimes as an adult it was nice to spend some time just with other adults. Especially for Jill, considering she even worked with children. Though, some could argue that Tigg himself was nothing but big child, but still, she rather enjoyed his company, so that was the important thing.
Smoothing over her dark emerald coloured dress, Jillian hung her apron on the peg in the corner of the kitchen. She’d already showered and done her hair before putting the cookies in the oven, so she was ready for the night. The only thing to do know, was decide what they were going to do for dinner. Jillian hadn’t started to cook anything, because she had thought they’d probably order in. It wasn’t often that Jillian didn’t have a home-cook meal ready, so it would be a nice break. Before she could really consider what they’d eat, there was a knock at the door. Smiling, Jillian moved from the kitchen to the front door. Un-latching it and pulling it open to let her guest in. “Hey, dear. Just us tonight. Ruth and Kiara both are doing the friend thing.”

AS SHE CARRIES ON WITHOUT A DOUBT i wonder if she'll figure out that I ' M C R A Z Y F O R T H I S G I R L - - - * Tigg almost couldn't feel his nose and was grateful that Jillian opened the door when she did. Immediately, his face broke into a giant smile at the sight of her. She was gorgeous, as usual. Always well put together, always smelling of something delicious. He couldn't lie and say that she wasn't pretty much perfect in every way. But he knew how easy it was to believe someone was perfect and then have them turn around and not be perfect at all. He didn't try to hold Jilly up on such a high pedestal, she just happened to sit there so beautifully. "That's all right," Tigg replied with an easy smile and a shrug, "I can't remember a time when it was just us two adults, anyway." He entered the house, glad to feel the warmth wash over his nearly frozen face, and kicked the door shut behind him gently as he held up the snow covered box of ornaments.
"Plus, they're the ones missing out," he sent her a playful wink and then made his way toward the still bundled up tree. He looked it over and then nodded his head before setting the box down on the floor, "I hope you have plenty of baked goods and milk for me, Jilly Bean. It seems you and Ruth picked out a darned good'un this year." His smile was bright as he shrugged off his coat, took off his mittens, and tossed them onto a chair. He used to feel really bad about making a mess in Jill's house, but the more he started to spend time over there, the less bad he felt. It had been at the point where he used to hold his coat and gloves the entire time he was visiting, so afraid of dirtying up her nice and clean house.
Needless to say, Tigg had gotten quite comfortable around the Marcille house. Running his hand through his hair after his hat had come off, Tigg moved and started to unbundle the tree. He was poked numerous times in the face with the branches, but he managed to succeed in fluffing it out and having the tree stand at its tallest and fullest. He knelt down, tightened the base into the stump of the tree so it wouldn't lean awkwardly, and then took a step back to survey his work. "Alright, tree is ready to be painted pretty." Tigg smiled a big smile and folded his arms across his chest as he turned to look at Jill, "Do you want the honor of the first ornament, or shall I?"

------------------------------------------- * baby, it's cold outside[atrb=border,0,true][atrb=width,355,true] Taking the box, Jillian smiled softly. He didn’t need to bring them any decorations, they had plenty. However the gesture was more than touching. Glancing down at the box, the woman felt her smile stretch wider. “Oh dear, these are just gorgeous, thank you.” Brushing the snow off the box and onto the front door-mat, Jillian bit her lip. Her compulsion was to immediately clean up the snow, but she knew Mr. Tigg would be way too amused by that, so she resisted. Instead she followed the man into the lounge-room. Setting the box down besides the fire-place. “Of course I do, dear. There are some in the oven, and I made some eggnog just for you.” Smiling, she set herself down on the arm of the chair to watch him set the tree up. She had to respect his worth ethic, in and right to work.
Shrugging at his comment about the tree, Jillian tried not to laugh. “Well Ruth wanted one that would fit all our decorations on it. However I think for that to happen we’d have needed one that wouldn’t even fit in the lounge room, so we did the best we could.” It was true that they had a lot of decorations. However they probably could all fit on that tree if Jillian wasn’t so particular about it. The woman couldn’t help herself though. She liked the decorations to be all a certain distance apart, and the different colours evenly spread. It may have been rather annoying when you were decorating, Jill hovering along behind you and re-arraigning almost everything. However everyone had to admit her trees always looked fantastic. A fact she was rather proud of, actually. She always got so many lovely compliments on her trees.
Jill considered his question. Standing up, she moved closer to the man. “You should.” She said quietly with a nod. “You do so much for us, it’s only right you have the honours.” Taking his hand, Jillian gave it a soft squeeze, before she stepped away to inspect the vast amount of boxes of decorations she had gotten from the attic earlier. Getting out the fragile glass angel that had always been put on the tree first, the woman turned back to Earnest. Handing it over delicately. However, as she was handing it over, Jillian noticed the snow in his hair. Smiling softly, she reached up with her free hand to run her fingers through his locks to rid it from snow. Letting her slender fingers linger in his hair and on the side of his face. “Remind me to get you a beanie.” She said softly, her hand still on his face. “You’ll catch your death with snow in your hair like that, dear.” C O U N T, 458 N O T E S, ooooohhh que sweet tender moment! AS SHE CARRIES ON WITHOUT A DOUBT i wonder if she'll figure out that I ' M C R A Z Y F O R T H I S G I R L - - - * Laughing, Tigg knew Jill was right. She always had the best trees, and not because of their size but because of the amount of effort she put into making them gorgeous. There were so many ornaments that it was almost crazy. Jill wasn't exaggerating when she said they would need a tree that wouldn't fit inside the house. Tigg would have gladly cut a hole in the roof to fit a big tree in the room, but he doubted Jilly would like that too much. He merely smiled that charming smile of his and continued to unbunch the tree. When it was finished, he turned to Jillian and was struck by her beauty.
It was always astounding to him how easily she made him go speechless. It was hard to make Tigg speechless, because he always had something going through his brain. He was a bit ADD and ADHD, and it was because of that his brain just didn't shut off. It didn't stop. His mouth constantly produced sounds. But there would be moments where Jill would turn and everything would just...stop. His mind, his mouth, his breathing, his heart. It would just stop. He wouldn't admit it to himself, but he did love Jill. He wouldn't admit it to anyone else. In fact, he was in such denial that the first time she took his breath away he blamed the cold he had just gotten over.
Tigg swallowed and focused on what she was saying. Him put the first ornament on? He blinked when she squeezed his hand and then watched her go to pull out the angel that sat atop the tree every year. Tigg reached to take it from her but paused when he felt her hand brush snow from his hair. Swallowing thickly, Tigg looked at Jillian, listening to her but not letting the words register in his mind. Her hand on his face made him warm up instantly, and all he could think about was kissing her. Tigg blinked slowly, took the angel from her hand, and took a step closer to her. "I can handle a little snow in my hair, Jilly Bean..." His voice was soft, low, and meant for only her to hear as if he had to worry about others listening into their conversation.
The heat in the room intensified when he realized how close to her he was. His heart slowed down in his chest as his tongue moved across his bottom lip slightly, "You're such a sweetheart, Jillian..."

------------------------------------------- * baby, it's cold outside[atrb=border,0,true][atrb=width,355,true] It amazed the woman, how even the most simple phrase sounded just so.. intimate spoken in his low tones. The man had a habit of doing that to Jillian. Moving in close to her and murmuring a simple or mundane sentence in such a way that it caused the woman to feel a shiver down her spine. Which was the exact sensation she was feeling at that moment as he told her he could deal with a little snow in his hair. If her brain was being rational she would have agreed that he could, but that she cared for his health and couldn’t help worrying about him. However Jillian was unable to process such thoughts at the current point in time. All she could do was look up at him, spine tingling and cheeks flushing. Warmth spreading through her entire body. How was it that he could have this affect on her?
Swallowing hard, Jill’s had slid slowly from his cheek, down his neck, to rest softly on his chest. She should have just dropped her hand back to her side, but she wasn’t ready to end the flesh to flesh contact just yet. The woman couldn’t explain why she wasn’t ready, she just knew she had to leave her hand on him somehow. It was unexplainable to Jill, her current need to feel his warmth under her fingers. Something like anticipation was building inside Jillian’s stomach. The woman wasn’t sure she liked that. She knew were moments like this lead, and what the tingling in her stomach meant. There had been moments, much like this one, where Jillian had felt like a line was about to be crossed between the two of them. She’d really always chalked it up to loneliness. That they were both the closest thing to a relationship the other had.
It was getting harder though, to say that it was loneliness fuelling these moments. And it was growing harder for Jill to stop herself. To keep her head level so things didn’t go too far. Closing her eyes, the woman leant in. Her forehead hovering so close to Earnest’s that not even a pin would fit between. Being this close to him, she took in a deep breath. He smelt amazing. Like pine needles, snow and his usual aftershave. The brunette visibly shivered. Her fingers brushed his softly as he took the ornament from her. She swallowed again, trying to calm herself, and regain some rational thought on the situation. Nothing was going to happen. She just wouldn’t let it.. Jill could never let it happen.. She just. After her husband died.. Intimacy.. It wasn’t something she could do again. She had intimacy and pain linked in her mind, and she just couldn’t go there.
“I’m not too nice..” She murmured softly, her fingers curling up, stroking his chest in the process. “I just... care about you..” Swallowing once more, she opened her eyes to look at Tigg. Or, more accurately get lost in his eyes. “I’ll buy you a beanie for Christmas..” she spoke softly, with a small nod.
