Constantly being stuck between growing up and staying a child, Luce had a permanent headache in the back of her mind. It was there, throbbing, as she wandered around Neverland. The attractions used to be her most favorite thing as a child. She could bounce from world to world, change the scenery without leaving the park. Luce groaned inwardly, reached up, and pulled her hair free of the bun she had pulled it back into. Having her hair up was only making the headache worse. When Luce had moved out, she had thought it would give her a clear desire: she would either love the responsibility or hate it. If she loved it, she would grow up. If she hated it, she would return home and remain a child.
But it hadn't been that simple. She had moved out and loved the freedom. She loved that she didn't argue with her father before bed every night. She loved that her brothers were free to visit and crash there and not have to worry about doing their chores. She loved it. But Luce also hated paying bills, worrying about money, etc. She hated not knowing if she would have enough money the upcoming week in order to do something to keep her sanity. More so now than ever, Luce was stuck between the two choices. Perhaps that was why she returned to Neverland park. Hoping that it would awaken her inner child and make her forget the decision for one day. Just one day was all Luce asked.
One day and then she would go back to working on that big decision.
For now, Luce was going to go on the spinning tea cups ride. She loved the way it threw the entire world out of whack. She wasn't a control freak, really. She could do with some spontaneity. But she didn't like things being completely unorganized. The spinning tea cups made everything chaos, but only for a little while. And if she didn't like it, she could close her eyes and make it go away until it stopped. The ride loomed before her as she waited in line. It crawled onward and eventually she was up front. An arm blocked her entrance, though, "Sorry, miss. Two person minimum." Luce blinked up at the man in front of her, realizing with horror what he was about to do. Before she could stop him, he cupped his hand around his mouth and shouted; "Lonely rider at Tea Time! Lonely rider! Anyone care to join her?"
Blushing crimson, Luce looked at her feet; "Oh, this is fantastic..."

I'VE HAD THE TIME OF MY LIFE , Ed Whiteley loved Neverland. It was one of those places that he could go and act like a five year old and not be judged at any point in time. He went there as much as he possibly could. One of his absolute favorite rides was actually the spinning tea cups, though it sounded more childish than any of the rest of the rides at Neverland. But, Edward never really cared, he had a big enough ego to think that he looked good doing whatever he wanted and if anyone told him otherwise he laughed in their face and went on doing what ever his little heart desired.
He never truly had a reason to go to Neverland, he just somehow always ended up there, like it was a second home to him. Edward came there when he was sad or mad or anything in between and it always seemed to cheer him up no matter what. He wasn't sad or mad or anything in between right now, however, now he was just there because he was bored and obviously, he loved it there.
Edward was walking towards the spinning tea cups now, hoping that it wasn't too late before he had to wait in line again. But luckily enough for him, there was one person left, though she looked perfectly humiliated as the man in front of her started screaming for someone to join her. Before anyone else could go and claim that, Edward picked up the pace and hurried over towards them. He was only slightly puffing when he reached the ride, and smiling widely as he brought his hand up and saluted the man in front of him. "Fellow rider reporting for duty, sir." He said with a grin even though he sounded a bit strange, and still could honestly not care less.
Edward wasn't sure if he knew the girl who stood between him and the spinning tea cups but he was never opposed to meeting new people either way, he was a friendly guy, sometimes a bit overly friendly at times but just an honest young soul who loved people, as long as they had a sense of humor and they didn't try to criticize him in any way shape or form even though he acted like a child a good majority of the time. He didn't want to grow up- it was as simple as that, nothing more and nothing less. Regardless of whether he knew this girl or not, he took a step forward and to the side so that he was standing beside her and then he grinned over at her. "You don't mind, do ya?"

Luce looked up when someone volunteered to ride with her. A smile played across her lips at the way they responded to the call, and her embarrassment dwindled a bit as she felt more at ease. "Oh, no...not at all..." Luce smiled again, shifted weight from one foot to the other and then headed toward the only empty tea cup. Careful not to trip over her feet, she climbed into the cup and sat down on one side. She settled her hands on the turn table in the center of the cup and offered the guy who offered to be her partner another smile, "Thanks for doing this..." She hated that the ride director had done the whole 'solo rider' thing. She had seen it in movies plenty of times before and had thought she'd be able to go her entire life without it really happening to her.
Actually, then, she had thought it only really happened in movies. The "meet cute" is what it was called. Or, at least, that's what Luce vaguely remembered it being called.
"I could have gone my entire life without that embarrassment ever happening...fate seems to have something else in store for me, though, doesn't it?" Luce smiled nervously, moving her hands to grip the turn table as the ride began to spin slowly. She pushed the turn table to the right, causing the tea cup to spin a bit faster. Her nervous smile broke out into one of pure joy and she actually giggled, trying to spin the cup a bit faster.
She loved the way it felt to be spinning like this. When she was younger, she used to throw her arms out and her head back and just spin and spin in circles. But growing up, she realized she couldn't just do that anywhere. And now she resorted to the organized chaos of the spinning tea cup ride at Neverland. Luce let her head tilt back and joyful laughter flew out of her parted lips as she closed her eyes and enjoyed the feeling of being out of control. Her hair whipped the sides of her face and she opened her eyes to look at the person opposite her; "Isn't this great?!" she called over the rushing wind through their ears.

I'VE HAD THE TIME OF MY LIFE , Ed just kept grinning as he followed the girl to the one last empty tea cup and climbed on after her, rubbing his hands together in anticipation before she spoke again, and then he looked back up from the wheel to her pretty young face again and smiled. "No problem at all." He replied truthfully, chuckling a little to himself. It wasn't every day that he got to ride on the spinning tea cups with a pretty girl, after all. It was usually with just a friend or something, nothing interesting ever happened to him on the spinning tea cups.
Except once when some kid had puked all over him. But that was not something Edward liked to think of when he thought of his favorite ride, horrifying memories such as that. He'd been scarred for life from The Puking Kid as he had henceforth named him (Edward was not really all that creative and that was all he could actually think of at the time and it just stuck).
Edward looked back up, surprised as she began to make awkward small talk and then he grinned again, nodding slowly. "Yeah, well, everyone has those days, I guess." He offered as an attempt at consolation, shrugging carelessly as he grabbed hold of the turn table and started pushing it to the right like the girl was doing in attempts to make it go faster, a huge goofy grin on his face as she began to giggle, which soon turned into a full fledged laugh, which of course Edward had to join in on, and he soon started cracking up along with her, nodding ecstatically through his laughter as she asked him how great it was.
It was hard not to laugh while on this ride. Edward didn't know what it was about it but for some reason he always ended up laughing sooner or later, and her laughter was pretty contagious as it was. But Ed kept spinning the turn table as fast as he could before the ride stopped; because the ride always seemed to stop too quickly. Today was no exception. By the time it slowed to a halt, Edward's face was sore from smiling so much. "That is way too much fun every time." He sighed happily.

This was why she wanted to stay a kid. She loved the ability to just let loose and enjoy the carefreeness of everything around her. As an adult, she couldn't do that. Her mind was preoccupied with bills, adult things. She hated it. But part of her yearned to just accept it all, as if she accepted it all it would make things easier for her. She knew it wouldn't, deep down, she knew it wouldn't. But still.. she hoped. Maybe that was all childish thinking in and of itself. She couldn't help it, though. It seemed...she couldn't help a lot of things.
All too soon the ride ended and the smile that was etched across Luce's face dimmed slightly. Her cheeks were rosy from the wind whipping against her skin and they were sore from smiling and laughing too much. The cups stopped twirling slowly, and eventually pushing against the turn table was pointless. Luce collapsed back against the tea cup, taking deep breaths in order to slow her heart, and sent the guy a bright smile before extending her hand in his direction; "Luce Darling, pleasure to meet you." She was glad now that he had offered to ride with her. Luce always enjoyed the tea cup ride, even if getting there before hand was a bit embarrassing.
Then with another bright smile, Luce climbed out of the teacups and looked at her companion; "I have.. a whacky idea. Sparing either of us the embarrassment of having to be called for a riding partner, how about we join forces? Or.. well.. that is if you don't already have a group you are with.." She didn't want to come off as presumptuous, nor over excited. Truth was, Luce hated being alone in big huge amusement parks. She found it incredibly dull. Half the fun of amusement parks was being able to laugh about it with a friend afterward. Memories were made. Fun was had.
You couldn't very well do that alone, could you?
Luce stood there, waiting an answer, shivering at the cold wind. Her feet shifted back and forth, trying to warm up her toes.

I'VE HAD THE TIME OF MY LIFE , Growing up was something Edward never ever ever wanted to do. He would rather stay a kid for the rest of his life, not having to worry about getting into that much trouble because he didn't know any better, he wouldn't have to worry about bills and gross "grown-up" things like that, he was not looking forward to it at all, even though he was already nineteen years as of last month, he was not looking forward to next year when he was out of his teenage years, at all. Not being a teenager, it was just a weird thought, since he still acted like he was twelve most of the time, no one would believe it, especially him.
As the ride ended, the girl across from him looked a little worn out, Edward noticed, but still she looked like she'd had a really good time, and he was glad, he liked to help make others happy at times, most of the time he was far too focused on himself, but every once in a while it was nice to think of someone else. He took her hand and shook it gently, grinning back at her. "Ed Whiteley, pleasure to meet you too." He replied as he hopped out of the teacup and turned back around as she climbed out and began talking again.
Usually Edward wasn't that good of a listener, but if who he was listening to was cute and likable (both of which Luce seemed to be so far), he normally managed to pay attention easier, somehow. He felt another smile growing as he heard her words, and then he nodded. "Nope, no group. And that definitely sounds awesome!" He answered with another grin, putting his hands in his pockets. He didn't like to be alone at an amusement park any more than the next person, but he usually either found someone he knew or met someone new, either way, he would somehow find some way to not be alone.
He bowed playfully, putting his arm out and waving the way towards the exit, "Shall we, milady?" He asked cheerily, not really caring if he sounded a bit ridiculous. He'd already passed ridiculous, after all, he was wading in the waters of insanity, and his just thinking that up sort of confirmed it. But whatever, she hadn't minded his rather strange way of saying he wanted to be her partner on the teacups. He straightened up anyway after a split second, still smiling as he returned his cold hands to his pockets.

The world was her oyster. Luce realized this at a very young age. Story telling and putting your mind to things wasn't too hard to do when your entire world opened up to reveal something bigger and better; something full of magic. It was growing up and losing that ability was upsetting. Luce tried to grasp onto it, and some days were better than others, that much was true. Even though, Luce could feel her childish personality slipping through her fingers with each check she signed for her bills, with each tear that fell onto her pillow when she cried herself to sleep. Adulthood was looming over her, a giant careless monster, and it was about to gobble her whole.
When she was younger, Luce would have made up an elaborate tale about how she would have beaten that Adulthood into submission and she would be able to remain a child her entire life. But that was a story, something that she would have pretended with. This was reality, and sometimes she was able to get away from that reality; like today. As she climbed out of the tea cup and offered to hang out with him the rest of the day, she hoped he would accept. Gleefully, Luce giggled when he did and the giggle broke into a full out laugh at his gesture.
"Splendid!" Luce exclaimed, clapping her hands together before reaching and grabbing his arm, tugging him away from the teacup ride. "What is your favorite ride? There's only so many I can do right after the other, but I've just started so I can take about ten more before I get too sick." Her excitement was shining through as she weaved her way through the crowds, dragging Ed gently behind her. After a moment, she released his arm and did a small bounce and another laugh before stopping in her tracks to survey the number of rides that were waiting to be conquered. So many choices. Luce smiled and looked at Ed, "Your choice, good sir!" She bowed and backed out of the way, allowing him more of a scope of the rides.
