Parades. Anya loved parades. They made her feel like a little kid again. The excitement of going, the gorgeousness of the floats, the lights, the sounds, the people, the bad food and candy. It was all incredibly worth the frigid air that she would have to stand out in. Every year since her family had moved to Fantasia, Anya had gone. It used to be with her family, but as she grew older she would go with boyfriends or friends - or Pooka. Pooka, really named Perseus, was her longest friend in Fantasia. They were nearly inseparable, and thus would be why they were going to the Ajax Parade together. Anya wouldn't know what to do without Pooka, he was by far her best confidante. She talked to him about things she didn't think anyone else would understand. Sometimes Anya didn't even understand, but it was still nice to get out of her own mind and put it out into the world for someone else to take into consideration.
Right now she wasn't going to worry about that, though. Right now, Anya was going to get ready for the Parade and then go find Perseus. She pulled her boots on over her purple fuzzy socks, and then grabbed her coat and yanked it on as well. Luckily, she wasn't feeling rushed today so accidents were at a minimum. She didn't have any bruises, or scrapes, from falling and Anya couldn't be more thankful. She left her apartment in one piece, shoved her hands into her pockets, and started the walk toward where she and Perky Poo had decided to meet. The snow on the ground was nice and white, unless you looked over at the street which had been pushed clean and salted for the parade. Anya did indeed love snow.
It was one thing from Russia that she did remember. There was so much she couldn't remember, but the snow...the snow was one thing she could remember. Anya loved it. She closed her eyes, paused in her steps, and tilted her head back slightly to allow the snowflakes to fall on her face. She even stuck out her tongue to catch a few before continuing on her way. She jumped in piles of snow, getting her jeans wet around the top of her boots. The wind bit at her face a little, turning her cheeks and nose red, but Anya didn't care. This was heaven to her. She hated the summer. The winter was when she felt most at home.
As she drew closer to the location, the crowd started to get thicker. Anya looked for the familiar site of Perseus and then broke into a huge smile when she saw him. She moved so she was behind him, took a few more steps back, and then broke into a jog before launching herself onto his back, wrapping her legs around his waist, and arms around his neck. "I would say freeze, but it's cold enough that you just might..." Anya giggled, not detaching herself from his back.

The cold wasn't always Percy's favorite thing. Even though he loved the snow and the fun you could have in it, he wasn't too fond of being cold. He'd rather be cuddled up in a blanket with some hot chocolate or something, but he promised Anya he'd go to the parade with her. It was a once a year kind of thing, and it was a tradition with them just as much as it had been with her family to go.
The boy wandered around the large manor, passing by the portrait of his elderly adoptive mother before she passed away and smiled. He missed Maria very much, and he wished she was here, but he was happy to know she loved him like her own enough to leave him her estate. Sadly, without Maria the large house seemed slightly empty when he was by himself. Percy sighed, peeling off his pajamas and tossing on his white turtleneck over the white tee he had under everything, his jeans following soon after and he pulled on a pair of boots.
THUD! Ah crap, maybe he shouldn't have tried to put his boots on while standing. Percy rubbed his head and shook himself off, sighing as he put his other boot on and went to grab a coat.
Within a few minutes, Percy was at the parade and shivering lightly in the cold. He hated the wind, and thankfully it started to die down after awhile. How long was Anya going to take? The boy sighed, noting he could see his breath and watched the people all around him get ready for the parade. A bunch of dancers were getting ready, practicing their dance moves in the street as the parade started to form.
He heard something come up behind him, the snow crunching beneath someone's feet and he smirked, staying still and awaiting what was going on. Within seconds, there was the sound of running and soon Anya appeared on his back.
"I would say freeze, but it's cold enough that you just might..."
"Yeah, well, it's cold out here Anyaaaaa!" he whined, grinning as he looped his arms under her legs to keep her on his back. The boy shifted Anya to keep her on his back but readjusting her so she wasn't right on his kidneys. "Happy to see me eh?"

She didn't know why she felt so at ease with Perseus. It had been that way for as long as she could remember in their friendship. Anya was an incredibly easy going person, but the days where she was low were bad. Perseus always seemed to be there for her through those. He always seemed the easiest person to go to for some reason. Perhaps it was because they got along so easily. Everything was smooth and free flowing. They had fun. No drama. Good friends always meant no drama. "Cold is for babies, moi lyubov." Her Russian slipped out so easily, it was so natural for her. Anya was thankful that she hadn't forgotten that in the move, as well.
She smiled when Pooka supported her on his back, and she leaned forward against him easily; relaxing even more. "Aren't I always happy to see you? Happiness is in the form of friends, and you are definitely a good friend." Anya nuzzled into his neck slightly, took a deep breath, and then clambered off his back semi-reluctantly. Sometimes people assumed Anya had deeper feelings for Perseus than she really did. She couldn't help it. She was an affectionate person, someone who thought the world could use more hugs and laughs than anything else.
She showed most of her affection to her family and to Perky Poo. That's just how it went. Were they an item? No. Did Anya have love feelings for him? Yes, but not the romantic type. She tried not to think about it, tried not to overcomplicate things. It was hard to do. Anya overcomplicated things a lot. With her feet steady on the ground, Anya looked over at Perseus; "What do you say to hot chocolate and climbing up..." Anya pointed toward a firescape along a building, "there to watch the parade?" Just the idea of going up someplace high to watch the wonderful parade made her all bouncy inside.

"Cold is for babies, moi lyubov." Percy rolled his eyes with a chuckle. She always called him that. It was either that or Perky-Poo and trust me, he liked moi lyubov a heck of a lot better than Perky-Poo. Though, he always liked Pooka as well. How did that name come up? He had no idea. One day Anya called him that by accident and it just kind of stuck. "Aren't I always happy to see you? Happiness is in the form of friends, and you are definitely a good friend."Pooka grinned, leaning into her slightly as she nuzzled his neck. He blinked when she had removed herself from his back and shivered once the warmth was gone. He forgot how cold it was for a minute. Sure, people assumed sometimes that he and Anya were an item, but Percy and Anya knew they only loved each other like siblings. That was all that mattered. Percy didn't really care what others think about him, but if someone was to make assumptions about Anya he'd beat them into next week. "What do you say to hot chocolate and climbing up there to watch the parade?" Percy grinned, feeling himself start to bounce in excitement. Yes, it was totally a five-year-old thing to do, but he was mostly doing it to keep warm (and he did it automatically when excited). "Heck yes!!!! Let's go!" he grinned, grabbing her hand and dragging Anya along with him to go get some hot chocolate and eventually climb up the fire escape to watch the parade. The smile that broke across Anya's face when Percy agreed to watch the parade from the fire escape was probably the brightest and happiest smile someone had ever seen. She let him take her hand and pull her through the crowd to the small booth that was selling hot chocolate. There were plenty of other booths around, but this one was swarmed with people who wanted the best hot chocolate in Fantasia. Anya didn't know why others even tried. She admired their determined attitudes, though, because Anya was about as determined and stubborn as anyone else could possibly be. She got it from her father, but she didn't have nearly as much of a stubborn streak as he did. They were an awful lot alike, and sometimes it was frustrating for Anya because it meant they butted heads....a lot.
″Two really really big hot chocolates, please, with extra extra whipped cream.″ Anya ordered as they reached the front of the table. She slapped down two dollars on the tabletop and sent the worker a bright happy smile. The girl didn't seem too enthused, but Anya didn't blame her. It was cold out here, and she was wearing a tshirt with a light jacket over it. Some girls...they just didn't know how to dress for the winter. The hot chocolates were handed to her and Pooka, and Anya lead the way back to the fire escape. The hot chocolate was far too hot to sip automatically, so she held it in her right hand and reached up with her left to pull the ladder down. Slipping her foot onto the rung, she started the climb up; ignoring the snow as it landed on her head and hands from above.
Climbing at least three flights of stairs, Anya finally pulled herself up onto the last flight and brushed off the snow with her boot. She plopped down, letting her legs dangle over the edge, and then put the hot chocolate to her lips and took a sip from it. Whining, it burned her tongue, and Anya pulled it from her mouth, sticking her tongue out in hopes the night air would cool it down.
