"Oh, Klucky, surely he must know how much I still love him." - Maid Marian
NAME: Marian Amelia Fox NICKNAMES: Mar, Mari, Fox, Foxy AGE: 21 BIRTHDAY: 24th July ORIENTATION: Straight NATIONALITY: English OCCUPATION: Nurse PLAYED BY: Kate Nash DISNEY: Maid Marian, Robin Hood USER GROUP: Heroine
PERSONALITY !
KIND! Marion was brought up on the belief that if you are kind to people, they'll be nice back. Obviously, she's been around long enough to know that this isn't quite true, but she still holds firm that being kind and caring with those that she meets is the best way to act, as well as the fact she would hardly be a proper lady if she didn't. Marian adores children, and can't wait for the day she gets to have her own, leading her to be very maternal towards those she knows, as well as towards people her own age at times. The young woman rarely has a bad word to say about anyone, and even when she does, it is softened by her bringing up said person's good qualities as well. Even when someone she dislikes tries to flirt with her, she'll find it hard to say she has no romantic interest in them.
ROMANTIC! The girl is a hopeless romantic, really. She wants the whole thing: a big, happy wedding full of people, a family of her own, and a loving relationship with her husband. The only issue is that she's quite wary of dating guys- she's really only interested in finding the right one for her, not messing around with guys willy-nilly until someone else passes by. She still has a thing for an old friend, after years without contact, and often hopes he still thinks about her. Romantic guestures go a long, long way with her, even if they're only simple ones. Men who are openly romantic and loving to their girlfriends are the ones she holds most respect for, and a little chivalry never hurt anyone, right?
BRAVE! When push comes to shove, Marian is willing to say what she feels and defend her own actions or someone else's if she feels they were the right thing to do, or that there was no better option at the time. Facing the patients at the hospital she works at has led to her being toughened-up greatly over a short space of time, and she is able to deal with pain- emotional or physical- fairly well, which is partially due to having to help other people through their own pain.
QUIRKS: Giggles at the slightest thing. Keeps a lot of flowers around her home. Curtsies a little when she meets someone new.
LIKES: (Robin), dresses, summer, playing badminton, dancing, romantic novels/films, forests, her friends, children, animals, being given flowers DISLIKES: being away from people she cares about, windy weather, stuck-up people, having to lie, when people dress slutty, not having anything to wear, rudeness, getting dirty, meat, (Prince John)
HISTORY !
Born in Nottinghamshire, Marian was raised in England for the duration of her childhood. Her mother's cousin-in-law was a Duke, not-so-distantly related to the monarch, and the girl's life was formed from a strange mix of her quaint little home in the countryside and visiting grand, expensive plots of land around England. There was little there that interested her, other than the houses that held a badminton court, a sport she had been taught by her mother and thoroughly enjoyed.
Back home, in her little village she was so fond of, Marian spent a lot of her time with her best friend, a boy around her own age who was more adventurous and exciting than she dared to be. He became the object of her first real crush, and she would swear to herself that she'd marry him someday in childish innocence. However, job opportunities arose for her father in London, and the family moved down south with little hesitation when Marion was fourteen. The two friends kept in touch for a while, but they eventually lost all contact. Aged sixteen, Marian had not forgotten about her friend back home, and she was still crazy about him.
At one of her cousin's birthday parties, whilst Marian was out in the gardens of the house playing badminton, and avoiding having to meet more upper-class people her uncle knew or was related to in some way; she caught the eye of a boy a few years older than herself, who convinced her to dance with him. She was just being polite, but he didn't see it, and made more and more plans with her. Eventually he asked her to be his girlfriend, and Marian admitted- as nicely as she could- that she liked someone else. The male, however, merely saw this as a bit of competition, and continued to pursue her, much to her discomfort.
After finishing her A-level exams, Marian moved to Fantasia to study medicine at the university, hoping to eventually become a nurse. She now works as a nurse as she completes her studies, living in a little appartment near the hospital, which she shares with a friend. And that boy from her childhood is still on her mind.
SAMPLE !
Ruth happily walked along with her mother, her mind focused almost entirely on tree-hunting. She liked to think that, after many years of practice, the two of them were pretty skilled in finding exactly what they wanted on these little hunts. Somehow the thought of being able to pick a bigger tree was very appealing, like something bigger was automatically more Christmas-y in the teenager's head. Silly, perhaps, but Ruth was well and truly getting into the festive spirit and concern for her maturity was not going to change that.
As the pair walked through into the tree lot, Ruth glanced to her mother for a moment as she took another sip of hot chocolate, catching the smile on the older woman's face as she did so. Ruth had seen that particular smile before. Her suspicions were proved right when her mother spoke again, and she considered her mom's question whilst trying to avoid looking smug for the fact she had been right. Even with the two of them, chances were they were going to need a hand from someone to carry back the tree. "We might need him, if the tree is like, really big." Ruth mused with a smile, sounding hopeful at the thought of both having a nice, big Christmas tree, and getting to see Tigg.
To put it simply, Ruth loved that man. He was a good friend to both her and her mother, and easily the nicest guy she knew as well. He was a big kid, just like Ruth, and she in all honestly loved the fact that he was around as often as he was. It came in handy when the girls needed someone to do the DIY as well: neither Ruth or Jill were all that skilled with a set of tools, though Ruth had sat with Tigg a couple of times and hoped some of the expertise might rub off on her eventually. So far, it had not, but the teen still held onto the hope that she'd be able to weild a hammer without hitting her thumb one day. He was there when Ruth went out with her friends sometimes, too, for which the girl was grateful. She didn't really like the idea of Jillian being left on her own.
Ruth squeezed her mother's hand just a little. As close as she felt to Tigg, her closest friend was, and she assumed would always be Jillian. They'd been through a lot, she knew, and both had always tried to stay strong for the other in the face of it all. It was nice that they both had Tigg, though, she reasoned.
Her trail of thought was broken by the sight of a group of larger trees, and Ruth tugged her mother in the right direction without hesitating, back into tree-hunting-mode and taking another sip from her mug as she walked over. A few feet away from the trees, however, she found herself frowning. These ones, now that she could see them properly and not at a distance, were quite clearly taller than their lounge would allow space for. "Maybe not..." Ruth let her voice trail off as she looked back to her mom and laughed.
