"Yes, mother." -Roo
NAME: Ruth Olivia Marcille NICKNAMES: Ruthie, Rue/Roo, Marcy AGE: Fifteen BIRTHDAY: October 2nd ORIENTATION: Straight NATIONALITY: Fantasian OCCUPATION: High school freshman PLAYED BY: Abigail Breslin DISNEY: Roo USER GROUP: Childlike
PERSONALITY !
INNOCENT! Ruth is still very much a child, having only just started high school, and still sees the world as wonderful and amazing, without truly taking into account the dangers she might run into. Seeing the world though rose-coloured glasses, Ruth would be willing to befriend almost anyone, she automatically assumes people are nice and lovely, and if they screw up or hurt her she's almost always willing to forgive and forget- revenge is so not her thing. Also, a lot of sexual references and talk goes right over her head, not that she has any desire to change that, and she still finds such conversations icky and tries to avoid them.
CARING! Little Ruthie gets attached to people very quickly, and once she likes you- even if you're not too fond of her- she'll look out for you and try to cheer you up if you're down, offering advice or trying to make the person laugh to take their mind off things. If she knows someone is upset, she'll bug them until they tell her why, through determination to help them. Ruth is also very close to her mother, and desperate not to dissapoint her in any way. The girl also easily takes liking to animals- of almost any species- and if she finds one injured, it's her personal mission to make sure the little thing is okay.
FUN! The girl's main aim in life, at least for now, is to have a good time. She is, in some ways, fairly immature, and will react to some things like a much younger child would, getting incredibly happy and excited over the littlest thing. She also always tries to make sure that everyone around her is enjoying themselves, and will attempt to get them to join in with whatever she is doing, or find something to do that the other person would enjoy as well. Ruth is also somewhat fond of using practical jokes to break tension or arguments, though nothing too over-the-top: hiding and jumping out to scare people, planting whoopie cushions on couches, that sort of kid stuff. Anything to get someone laughing again.
QUIRKS: Jumps around a lot when she's happy/had too much sugar. Talks to herself when she's alone. Sometimes names inanimate objects she owns. She always carries a little LED torch, just in case she gets stuck somewhere in the dark, which she's afraid of.
LIKES: being outdoors, exploring, making friends, her mother, her mother's cooking, baking, pop music, animals, the rain, her wellies, biology, cartoons, going to the zoo. DISLIKES: math, too-cold weather, being yelled at, bullies, the dark, having to take medicine, gory movies, slutty people, spicy food, coffee, watching sports on TV, jokes meant to offend.
HISTORY !
Ruth was born to Jillian and Andrew Marcille, and has lived in Fantasia for the entire duration of her fifteen years. As a young child, she loved to get outside and play; usually getting incredibly muddy in the process. The world was there for her to explore, as far as she was concerned, and the girl had a wonderful, carefree childhood. She thought that with her parents watching out for her all the while, nothing bad was ever going to happen.
Her world came crashing down when she was seven years old, at the death of her beloved father. When it happened, she found that she could do barely anything but cry, often hiding out in the garden to do so because she wanted to be strong for her mum as best she could. The death made Ruth more mature in many ways, leading her to try and fill some of the gaps her father had left as bad she could, trying to help Jillian around the house and stay strong for her.
Moving out of their old family home made it somewhat easier for Ruth, with less memories constantly being brought back by the littlest things. One thing Ruth was sad to lose, however, was the treehouse her dad had built for her, which had been her own little place to go whenever she needed it. She was, however, grateful that she could stay in the same school as she always had, rather than have to meet all new people and learn to find her way around somewhere else.
Now fifteen, Ruth has grown more independent and outgoing than before, and sometimes struggles with her mother's protective tendencies now that she feels she is mature enough to look out for herself more. That said, the two are very close as it is just the two of them around, and Ruth trusts her mother enough to talk with her about any and all aspects of her life. Ruth delivers papers to earn a little money for herself, and aspires to be a vet when she's older.
