"If only I could make him understand. I just don't see things the way he does. I just don't see how a world that makes such wonderful things could be bad." - Ariel
NAME: Arielle Marina Prince NICKNAMES: Ari, Princess AGE: Twenty-two BIRTHDAY: November 12 ORIENTATION: Heterosexual NATIONALITY: Fantasian OCCUPATION: College student PLAYED BY: Susan Coffey DISNEY: Ariel, The Little Mermaid USER GROUP: Royalty
PERSONALITY !
CURIOUS! Her father calls her an adventurer, because when she was younger she would wander away and he wouldn't be able to find her for hours. She still will sometimes. She'll just wander aimlessly down the streets looking at everything and buying little trinkets and baubles she thinks look interesting. She's built up an impressive collection of trinkets she's bought from street vendors and the like. Her friends think of her as a pack rat, but she loves each and every single trinket. They all have meaning to her, even if it isn't an obvious one. NAIVE! Arielle can't really say no to people, even if she knows saying yes is to her own detriment. She just wants to help everyone she can, and she assumes they want to help her too. She'd give up anything, if someone promised they could help her fall in love. Arielle never was the brightest person in her class. No one came to her for answers on tests, but they all came to her with favors and she was always ready to comply. OPTIMISTIC! Ari wants to see the best in everyone. She doesn't want to believe that anyone is capable of true evil. She just brushes off the few bad deeds here and there, but she is blind to the truly awful things people do to each other. It's not that she doesn't know it happens, she just chooses not to acknowledge it. She needs to believe in the good inside of people. When people offer to help her, she sees it as a good will gesture instead of them wanting something she has. RECKLESS! Arielle has never really had to take responsibility for her own actions, because her father has always brushed them under the carpet and demanded they never be spoken of again. She can be a tad reckless and do things without thinking because of this. She doesn't see why it's so bad, because no one's made her face the mistakes. She thinks nothing bad could possibly happen when she takes chances. She often speaks and acts without thinking, and this sometimes gets her into some real sticky jams. She always manages to get out somehow or another though.
QUIRKS: She is very empty headed sometimes and will wear this completely bubble headed expression that lets you know when she's just not listening. If she's listening to music, she'll begin to hum or quietly sing along regardless of if she's in big crowd of people or alone in her room. If there's a puddle, she will always go out of her way to at least step in it.
LIKES: water, buying trinkets, singing and dancing, exploring, swimming, reading, making others happy, optimistic people, boat rides, making new friends, fish. DISLIKES: manipulative people, being alone, people who litter, getting lost, boring classes(eg geography, math), bad television, negative people, octopus, stories that go on for too long, being told no, being fenced in.
HISTORY ! Arielle had a rather bland childhood. She was the youngest of seven girls. Her mother brought three into the marriage and her father brought two. They had one daughter before finally reaching the birth of their youngest. She was doted on and spoiled by her father, who thought that his little girl could do no wrong. All of her sisters were already grown and moved out by the time Arielle came along, so she was spoiled rotten. She was never left to want for anything. Her mother and father took very good care of her and made sure she was as well adjusted as possible.
Every year the entire family would always take a trip down to the beach and rent a beach house for an entire week. All of Arielle's sisters would come and her father's brother always came to make sure the girls didn't break anything important. It was always the best part of the year for all of the girls. Arielle learned her love of the ocean on those very beaches. Her mother taught her to swim, and it's one of the few memories Arielle has of her mother.
At the tender age of seven, Arielle lost her mother due to a car accident. A drunk driver hit her mother as she was driving home from shopping, and she didn't survive. This incident made Arielle's father very strict with her and made him tighten his hold on her life. He rarely let her go out without him, or one of her sisters. He was too afraid something would happen to her, and she was the last memory he had of happy times with her mother. She began to rebel in small ways, because she couldn't stand being caged in that way. She began to sneak away when no one was looking, and found secret passages everywhere.
When Arielle turned thirteen, her father gave her a bit more freedom and let her go out with her sisters on the town from time to time. Her sisters introduced her to the art of theatre. Arielle loved watching the people sing and dance, and soon began to sing and dance all around the house. Her sisters would take her to a show at least once a week, while her father tried to talk them out of it. He much preferred his pretty little girl singing around the house, instead of wandering the streets. She grew very fond of the shows and began wondering if she could ever do something like that.
At the age of eighteen, Arielle left her father's house to strike out on her own. Her father was extremely angry and refused to speak with her. She rented her own apartment with money her mother had left her, and began searching for a job. She soon found one at a little antiques shop. She used to collect trinkets and baubles as a child, so she thought this little shop would be a perfect fit, as she worked to reach her true dream. She performed in a few neighborhood plays, but nothing serious. She still tries, but she figured out quickly that being a singer wasn't going to be all that easy.
At twenty, Arielle enrolled part time in college with the intent to study marine biology. She found it to be a much more stable field than singing, though she still does it in her spare time. She sings at open mic nights at local bars and cafes, but she studies whenever she can so that she can graduate and make something of herself. She wants to prove to her father that she can do something with her life on her own. She wants to prove that she isn't a child anymore and that he should be able to accept that she has grown up.
SAMPLE !
"Be careful dear! You know how dangerous it is out there!"
"Yes mom!" Addison yelled back at her mom as she walked towards the elevator in her building. She sighed and shook her head. All she was doing was going for a walk! It wasn't as if she was leaving to go to the bar. Not tonight at least. All she wanted was a little peace and quiet away from The Towers. Away from her parents and her brother Benjamin. She just wanted to be free for a few hours. Her parents never understood her need to be away. Her need to just walk without their constant nagging! She had to understand their worry though... There had been some trouble with the streets in the past..
She climbed into the elevator and pressed the button for the lobby as she remembered the day she ran away. She ran away because she believed her parents didn't love her anymore. They were always so concerned with this new baby and it's needs. They never paid attention to young Addison. She felt left out and forgotten. She decided to teach them a lesson, as most children do, and ran away. They never even noticed she had left the building. She got as far as the street outside The Tower before noticing that she had no idea where to go. She had never been outside without her parents. She had been lost and terrified, until that boy found her. She survived three days lost before her parents found her, and they'd been very against letting her out of their sight since. It had been hard for her to get a spare moment to herself.
She shook her head to clear her mind as the elevator bell sounded to announce her arrival in the lobby. She looked around apprehensively before stepping into the lobby and heading out into the city streets. They were bustling with activity as they always were right before the sun went down. Everyone was heading home or heading out to the bar. Addison really had no idea where she was going. She just wanted to be away from her parents and the pressure. She wanted to feel like no one expected anything from her. She followed the crowd, having no real destination in mind. Just as far away from The Towers as her feet would get her. She was shocked out of her thoughts as she bumped shoulders rather roughly with someone going the opposite way. She quickly put out her hands to apologize before looking to see who it was. "Oh gosh! I'm so sorry! I just wasn't looking where I was going I suppose!"
