“But oh, to be free. Not to have to go "Poof! Whaddaya need," "Poof! Whaddaya need," "Poof! Whaddaya need?". To be my own master." – The Genie.
NAME: Gideon Derek Robins. NICKNAMES: Gid, Robins. AGE: 26. BIRTHDAY: 19th July. ORIENTATION: Straight. NATIONALITY: British. OCCUPATION: Music Promoter. PLAYED BY: Jared Followill. DISNEY: The Genie from Aladdin. USER GROUP: Comic Relief.
PERSONALITY !
FUNNY! Gideon is nothing but a bundle of laughs, it’s easy to tell why people think he’s funny. He’s constantly cracking jokes, and trying to make people see the humour in things. Gideon tries to see the lighter side of things, and doesn’t like to let himself get worked up by anything – so being funny works for him because it makes him feel more easy going and calm. Along with his humour, Gideon has definitely got a cheeky side to him, he’s pretty mischievous and enjoys playing tricks on people in order to make other people laugh. Teasing is another thing that Gideon enjoys, just taking the piss out of people, not necessarily in a mean way, sometimes Gideon uses it as a way to flirt with women that he likes, but generally if he’s teasing with you, it means that he at least thinks of you as a friend.
CHARMING! There is no denying that Gideon is charming. He’s a very charismatic man, and that’s what probably got him the job as a music promoter – he needs his skills to be able to persuade bands into going to the events that he’s helping to organise. Or to persuade the organisers to take on particular bands, it works both ways. But along with this charismatic nature comes a good deal of flirting and charming his way to get with girls. He loves being charming, a smile here and there and he can have whatever he wants, it simply makes things easier for him.
COCKY! Sure Gideon is good looking, but he certainly knows it, and he uses it to his advantage to ensure that he gets what he wants. He’s very cocky and a bit self obsessed in that way, knowing he’s got the power to get people to do want he wants. Very self assured, Gideon has been labelled arrogant by some people who see him as a bit too full of himself, and really he probably is too full of himself – he has been known to act a bit godlike at times, being a bit too confident, and trying to take on too much, ending in a big mess. All in all, Gideon is a bit cocky, and definitely shows it.
IN CONTROL! Gideon is certainly someone who likes having power, and being in control. It’s what makes him so calm when things start to go wrong – he’s a good man in a storm. Knowing he’s got things under control makes him able to relax easily in tense situations, and makes him pretty easy going as a person. Gideon is definitely not a difficult person to get on with. Despite the control that he wants over situations, Gideon is certainly a man who enjoys freedom – a sense of freedom, and not being tied down has always been something he dreams of, he wants to travel the world more than anything, and has a game plan for his life – ie, once he has the money, he’s going to go off and do his own thing. In a nutshell, Gideon likes having the power and the control over everything, but in reality would be far happy off somewhere doing his own thing.
QUIRKS: Speaks incredibly fast when he’s in the zone, wants to be in control, tries to please everyone.
LIKES: Coffee, being in control, girls, ancient items (including lamps!), music, work, freedom, travelling, foreign places, partying, orange juice, being loud, money, gold jewellery, singing, entertaining people.
DISLIKES: Losing power, being alone, being tied down, small spaces, being rejected, fish, camels, being told to be quiet, rules, people who act seriously, when the people he loves get hurt, being patronised.
HISTORY !
Gideon’s parents, William Robins and Alicia Robins were from middle class backgrounds, so Gideon himself was born into a fairly stable household, and was definitely a wanted child. He was an only child, and his parents immediately decided they did not want anymore kids – they would focus on the upbringing of Gideon, and trying to turn him into a decent young man. Gideon certainly enjoyed his childhood, though at times he felt like a prisoner in his own home – his parents were very over protective and rarely let him out on his own to do his own thing. They constantly worried over him, and forced him to stay inside. However, Gideon didn’t mind too much, he was fascinated by the objects that his parents collected – ancient things, like lamps and rugs, and this grew into a love of his own.
As a teenager, Gideon became more rebellious, deciding that he felt claustrophobic being kept inside and mollycoddled by his parents, he wanted to do his own thing, be his own person and live his own life, and so he decided that he needed to get out there and do things. So in high school, Gideon lived a pretty radical life, he smoke and drunk constantly, definitely abusing his body as much as the majority of teenagers in his school, and he worried his parents ridiculously. He’d been fed up of doing everything for everyone else, he wanted his freedom more than anything. After high school, Gideon decided that he wanted to go travelling, and left his family without a goodbye (he does keep in touch some of the times, but not fantastically), and went around the world looking for fantastic objects, and bright foreign places.
However, this all stopped when he came to Fantasia City; sure he still wanted to travel the world and do his own thing, but he’d found a place which he loved and wanted to live in for at least a short while. And so Gideon settled down. He had no idea what he wanted to do with himself, until he had an idea from his love of music when he was out partying and saw bands performing. He realised that he wanted to get into the music promoter business, and so decided that he’d study music for a few years at Thomas College. Gideon made the most of his college years, and came out of it fresh and raring to go.
Working his way up the ranks in music promotion was difficult, and Gideon got a few bands under his wing before he found an opening at Fairy Tale Endings, the events company. Feeling that this might be the change of pace he was looking for, Gideon had applied, and fairly surprised had received the job. Now Gideon is just starting out at the company, and attempting to make it big at Music Promoting before he goes off and travels the world once again.
SAMPLE !
Fred was perhaps not having the best of days, well he hadn’t really had any good days since he and Mel had split. Really nothing seemed right in his life without her there, it just felt like he was falling apart. Mel was the one girl who could put him all back together, and well he’d completely ruined it with her, and all by accident. He missed her incredibly much, it was weird but he really felt like his life was incomplete without her, and he’d basically been moping around since she’d broken up with him, he’d not done anything, not even gone to quidditch, which for Fred was a fairly bold move to make. He’d not wanted to see her, because he knew that he’d have felt awful, and it would have been difficult. James had called him out on this, but there was really nothing he could do about it, Fred didn’t take orders from anyone let alone his cousin, even if they were friends. Fred felt like he’d wrecked everything, all because he was an absolute prat and had been stupidly drunk and done stupid things…well done a stupid girl to be precise. Fred had been, to put it lightly, completely off his face, he’d been drinking firewhiskey with the gang (Goldfish, Mav and Aus) and ended up playing drinking games which just never ended well for Fred. Very drunk Fred had fairly unfortunately stumbled into a fairly drunk Joey, and from there what with her flirting, and Fred barely being conscious, they’d ended up sleeping together. Waking up in the morning had been the most horrendous shock for Fred, because realising he was next to Joey, and it was midday, and he was completely hungover, and mostly naked he had felt awful. he’d changed ridiculously quickly in the hope that he could get back to the common room, and talk to Mel before she heard it from a possible other source, but he’d not been quick enough, and Mel had simply told him it was over, leaving him standing, feeling like the worst person in the world.
He was the worst person in the world, there was no denying it, he had no excuse for why he’d slept with Joey. It had been unacceptable behaviour, he knew it, if Mel had slept with someone else he knew he would have reacted in exactly the same way as she did. However, it would have been so unlikely that Mel would have slept with anyone else, because after all Fred and her hadn’t even slept together yet, so he just felt like a horrible horrible person. His day today had just been made so much worse by little things that kept going wrong. he’d been down in the common room doing work (Fred was having to stoop to pretty low levels in order to keep himself occupied now that he didn’t feel like doing anything fun), and his ink bottle had upturned all over his grey tracksuit bottoms, making him look like an idiot – he was pretty sure it was one of the fourth years that he’d been teaching pranks to being an annoyance. So Fred had then had to go upstairs and change, and when he had come back downstairs again he’d been ridiculously annoyed to find that a first year had taken his work and made a paper aeroplane out of it, which had ended up in the fire. It just seemed like everything was going wrong, and everything was out to get him. Nothing would go right, just nothing.
Right now, Fred was moping around in the dormitory, debating sleeping because he was in such a foul mood that it seemed like there was nothing else which he could actually do. The other seventh year Gryffindor boys were elsewhere, probably fed up with Fred’s incessant bad mood and moaning, it seemed that since Mel was gone Fred couldn’t be cheerful, he wanted that happiness back. He felt like a girl after an awful break up, on her period eating chocolate ice cream, he now felt weird having made an analogy of himself being a girl, but still, he felt pretty terrible. Fred knew he needed to do something, to put himself together, and pick himself up, he couldn’t just stay up here all the time. And so, an action plan was made. He would go outside. Outside was good. Fred liked outside, and maybe he could go and fly. Because equally to outside, flying was most certainly good, and it meant that Fred could escape his thoughts for a bit and get a bit of perspective on things, and work out what he should do next. Fred changed into a pair of dark grey trackys (not the ones with ink on them) and a maroon polo shirt, and navy hoody. He ruffled through his hair, looking in the mirror grimacing, and pulled the hood up. After putting on his shoes, Fred headed downstairs, looking at the ground, not making eye contact with the other Gryffindors, so used to seeing bubbly, optimistic, over the top Fred Weasley. And out on the seventh floor corridor, who did he have the misfortune to run into? The very girl that he was ready to murder. Joey Disney. Fred actually took his wand out looking at the girl, he wasn’t going to do anything rash. Calm. He needed to talk to her seriously, and being an idiot with his wand wasn’t going to help that. He replaced the wand, and walked over to the girl. “You.” He said bluntly. “What happened? How? Just why?” Fred was angry, he was fuming, he was just needing to know answers. “I can’t remember anything, not even whether it was good.” Why had he said that?! That had been unimportant, it shouldn’t have been good. “I was in love with a girl, I am in love with a girl, you’ve ruined that.” Fred said, “I mean, it should never have happened between us. Just never.”

I think you're missing a huge chunk of who genie is. He's a good spirited guy who is above all a friend. (Why else would Aladdin use a wish to free him from his lamp?)
I don't understand the necessity behind the drugs and drinking. It seems random and just thrown in there. I mean, if you can give me a good reason as to why that's necessary to his history than so be it. But right now it just seems thrown in there. Everything in a character's past happens for a reason. I need the why's and not just the because.
In some of your personality paragraphs you seem to just repeat the same sentence over and over again with different words. Almost every sentence in your "charming" paragraph can be simplified down into "he is charming" or "he is persuasive." But why?

hey, i'll sort it out. the main reason why i put the drinks in (i'm not sure if i mentioned drugs) is because the part of the genies personality that wants the freedom to do what he wants to do, and because he's a teenager at that point that's all he wants to do, and so when he has the freedom he does that, because for the entirety of his childhood he was doing what other people asked him to do (like when he was the genie of the lamp).
i'll sort it out for you (:
