"It's an art, letting someone have your way." - Daniele Vare
NAME: Rafael Jonah Jenkins. NICKNAMES: Ralf. AGE: 26. BIRTHDAY: June 29. ORIENTATION: Heterosexual. NATIONALITY: English. OCCUPATION: Consulate staff. PLAYED BY: James Marsden. DISNEY: John Rolfe from Pocahontas. USER GROUP: I DUNNO!
PERSONALITY !
POMPOUS! Rafael was taught, or you could say trained, proper manners and etiquette since a very early age. He knows how to hold a fork, shake a hand, get in and out of a limousine and shake a martini just right. He really does intend to treat everyone with respect, but sometimes he ends up coming off as condescending and snobbish when confronted with situations or people that make him uncomfortable such as those who are tacky, blunt or distinctly messy. IDEALISTIC! Rafael really does mean well. He believes the world can be fixed and he intends to do his part. To some he might seem as out of teach with reality and that’s probably true as John grew up in a rather sheltered and luxurious environment. What he has witnessed to be wrong with the world, he wants to change. For this reason he gets annoyed easily with cynical or crude people. AMBITIOUS! Rafael holds high expectations for most things and people and he’s had to deal with a lot of disappointment, naturally. But he always knows he can count on himself and so pushed himself to succeed. He might be a bit hard and relentless on his loved ones, but that’s simply a sign of affection from him. Ralf is actually very quite loyal and he has a strong sense of right and wrong which always guides him to do the right thing no matter what. Self-sacrifice and throwing the book out the window are things he wouldn’t think twice about when it comes to it. RESENTFUL! Rafael actually has to force himself to swallow his pride and stop being stubborn. How would he be good at his job if he didn’t? But the problem is that he does tend to hold grudges and since he has to at least pretend to let things go and reach a compromise, in the personal area of his life, this often leaves Ralf with a lot of resentment which he keeps to himself at risk of blowing up one day. DIPLOMATIC! If Rafael throws a punch at you, then you must have really crossed the line. John reads a lot and enjoys writing, see, he loves words. He likes using them. He has been practicing how to think before speaking and acting for many years and likes to apply everyday of his life. He’s confident, persuasive, kind, firm, politically correct and all of this comes across when he speaks. He can’t just speak his mind; he likes to choose the right words for what he needs to convey while trying to spare people’s feelings and avoiding unnecessary hostile scenarios.
QUIRKS: He’s not a case of OCD but Rafael does stress about things a bit much. Hosting events, work, pleasing his friends and family, you name it. He clenches his jaw and puts his hands into his pockets so he can dig his nails into his palm when he’s trying to hold back or simply uneasy. He’s committed and determined and a perfectionist and, surprisingly, he hasn’t lost his hair or gotten an ulcer.
LIKES: Traveling, tea, fencing, horses, his girlfriend, conversation, fine clothing, euphemisms, cigars, reading, soccer, cars, Queen, the colour grey, dancing, watches, foreign languages, Chinese food. DISLIKES: New shoes, recklessness, dust, untidiness, yelling, hostile negotiations, reality shows, potatoes, windy days, the colour yellow, not having his cell phone with him, oversleeping, surprises, his girlfriend’s ex, corruption, clothes that are too revealing.
HISTORY !
Rafael was a loved child. His parents were always good to him and he was partially raised by a changing group of nannies. John never lacked anything, really. He had a good healthy and economically stable family (they were pretty well-off, in fact) who showered him with what he needed and wanted. As an only child, Rafael was both a blessing and an official bearer of the family name. His childhood was marked by boarding school, horses, fencing and piano lessons. As he grew up Ralf was introduced to the social life of London, tobacco (his family owned the company Orinoco, which Ralf is to inherit), cars and mingling with the society ladies.
He was always charming and well-behaved and kept good grades. He never really got into too much trouble at school, except for the occasional gambling and smoking. Yet, in his little posse he was always the voice of reason and the one who volunteered to stay behind and keep a look out. Rafael didn’t have many enemies, but the few he did have he dealt with on the soccer court or with a ball point sword or wits. His mother always made sure to influence him in this way, keep him from becoming a bar-fighting hooligan and to take interest in things that really mean something like the arts and world affairs.
Having traveled a lot during his childhood and adolescence, Rafael got to see many corners of the world and was exposed to things that were far beyond his reality. Conscious of this, Ralf decided to get himself involved in international relations, realizing that he had an aptitude for it and finding that he enjoyed it immensely. It fit his lifestyle and allowed him to do so much. Fresh out of university, Rafael went to Fantasia as part of his internship and stayed there briefly. There was a girl, however, who became a reason for him to return to Fantasia, where he now resides.
SAMPLE !
There had been a time when Anne would jump from expensive joint to expensive joint, private clubs, sometimes turn her own house into one, always surrounded by a filthy rich and very obscene crowd. Not long ago. Back when she'd had a husband, even if he wasn't always in the picture. And while she didn't exactly have that lively posse with her in New York, every now and then she liked to treat herself to one of those luxuries, even if all by herself. Anna had always been very independent, and her sociability never got in the way with that. The problem was when it took to the other extreme, when instead of independent she was unavailable. When she left her loved ones behind before they finally left her. It hadn't worked very well so far.
Anyway, an expensive dinner was one of those luxuries, especially since Anna wasn't particularly fond of cooking and most of her dinners were sloppy or microwaved. Or both (yeah, it happens).
There was this restaurant she liked, the kind you can only find in New York City, in which on the moment you step in, you instantly feel like activities such as buying shoes has a deeper meaning. Oh, so frivolous, agreed. But a neatly prepared pasta after many nights of instant soups was rather nice.
Anna was a light-weight when it came to food. She couldn't handle three courses but the night really called for a dessert, so she skipped the entrée and went straight for the main course. Plus, a bottle of white all to herself. The waiters were good enough company, always capable of sparking some sort of amicable conversation, and so was the music. There was live violin playing and the whole ambiance was very cosmopolitan. A bottle of wine led to an extra glass and then another and another and before she knew it, Anna was hiccuping and seeing things in a different light. The evening kept on progressing but she never felt rushed. This particular city never slept, did it?
She'd finished her meal and drank the sparkling liquid till the last drop. The violin player had bowed and left. Only about five other tables remained in use. Anna payed with the credit card, grabbed her purse and jacket, for which there was no need outside, and headed without further thought or concern towards the exit. Just as she was about to cross the door, a waiter caught up with her and handed her her AmEx. With wide eyes and a small giggle, plus a shy thank you, she took it, dropped it somewhere inside her purse and stepped out into the embracing New York summer.
The valet was bringing in her little silver car after a few short minutes. Stumbling, Anna rounded it and tipped the guy in the red vest with a fifty.
"Wouldn't you prefer us to call you a cab, ma'am?"
Two beats it took for her to catch up with the words.
"Oh, nonsense." She laughed. "Where're the keys? Oh." Anne slurred before noticing they were stuck to the engine. "Right." She got in the car and made herself comfortable in the seat, her purse and jacket landing carelessly somewhere in the back, but just as she was about to pull the door shut, an older guy, this one wearing a bow tie, held it open and bent to look at her.
"Madam, I will have to insist that you do not drive you car tonight. I will be happy to pull a cab over for you to take you home."
Her reactions slow, Anna stared at him for about two seconds before rolling her eyes and looking out the left window. Then back at the man. He continued.
"Or perhaps there is someone we could call for you to come pick you up?"
Anne ran a hand through her hair slowly.
"You're... awfully kind." She ventured in what she considered her most elegant tone, yet without successfully concealing a trace of annoyance. "But [small laugh] I can manage." She looked him straight in the eye when he still didn't let go of the door. "Really." She added more firmly.
"Madame, you will risk being arrested beside putting your life-"
"I don't think it's really any of your business!" She raised her voice. Irately turning her eyes again, not really paying attention at the fact that the entire valet crew and a couple who was just leaving the restaurant, plus the costumers on the terrace of the restaurant across the street were watching the scene, Anna tried to pull the door once more. Still, the man wouldn't budge.
"Oh, for fuck's sake!"
At that moment, another figure appeared next to bow tie man, which Anne took a second to register. It wasn't until the newcomer bent that she realized it was somebody she knew.

Question, is your sample a roleplay post or more like a story? It seems more like a story...

It is a roleplay post. The last part is for someone the character knew to step in and interact. I used a lot of NPCs, but I guess I needed them there I could use another one if you prefer.

I liked it, but the only thing I will say is; don't expect that whom-ever ends up taking Poc and John. S will agree to your plot idea. It's okay to request it, but just be open to their ideas too.
