Teresa North slunk down further into her chair in the corner of the Jolly Roger. She was sitting, and drinking, alone- something which was becoming a bit of a habit for her after a day at work. Unlike most of the women in the bar, who drank wine with friends or partners, Teresa had half a pint of beer sitting infront of her. Her second glass of the evening, with a few more looking more and more likely. She sighed, and rubbed her temple briefly. The crowded bar was starting to give her a headache, and the alcohol wasn't particularly helping as of yet. Absentmindedly, she wondered what her father would think if he could see her now. He'd never been what you'd call supportive of her, especially after she started getting into more and more fights- and less ladylike by the day. At least she wasn't causing any trouble here, she reasoned, although she had threatened one guy's manhood earlier on when he tried to grab her ass. The people that recognised her had just laughed at the situation- they'd seen similar things happen a few times before. Teresa looked around the room silently. She recognised a few regulars, most of whom were sat around the bar, talking amongst themselves or watching the television set on the wall, which was playing a hockey game, one Teresa herself wasn't really interested in. The rest of the bar was filled with couples and groups of friends, a lot of whom were already slurred in their speech. Some were obviously not great at handling alcohol in their system, totally drunk but still ordering more. That was one thing that had never really been a problem for Terri- she could drink quite a bit before starting to feel the effects of it, and it took a hell of a lot to give her a hangover in the morning. The only real reason Teresa was in the Jolly Roger tonight was the fact that, after a long day of work, most of which had consisted of running errands and taking notes for her boss; she'd had a choice: go home, or go to the pub. The latter was closer, and it had decent, proper food, rather than Teresa's usual specialty: ordering take out. For the third time in a month, she silently promised herself that she would learn to cook more than beans on toast, fry ups and microwave meals. It wasn't going to happen, it never did. If she had the money, she would have probably hired a chef for herself by now, but the only way she was going to afford paid staff was either move back home and hope her father's business was doing really well, or shack up with some rich guy. Neither sounded like a good plan. Taking another gulp of her drink, she took out her phone, sliding the screen up and down in a bored manner. No messages, no missed calls, nothing. Typical. She downed what was left of her beer and walked over to the bar, placing the empty glass on the top. "Same again, Bill." she told the bartender with a slight smile, taking out a handful of coins and putting them on the counter next to her glass. She heard the door open behind them, but didn't bother turning around.[/blockquote] tag! kiana words! 556 notes! meh, not that long :/ random thread titles ftw. [/blockquote]

♥♥♥. For Kiana Rae Leona, trouble and adventure was never but around the corner. It was certainly applicable in the case, for as she turned the corner into the Marcdavis District, she immediately found herself standing in front of the notorious Jolly Rodger, where beer flowed a-plenty and all kinds of men and women walked out slurry-mouthed and completely off balance. Adults only, kids like her were definitely not allowed. Adding to that, it was a place her father had set as ‘off limits’. actually, he had forbade her from walking anywhere near the Marcdavis District, let alone inside of it. Thus, Kiana couldn’t help herself as she opened the door to greet the smell of smoke, alcohol and her kind of adventure.
The pungent smells caused her to cringe and hold her nose in disgust. It was certainly unpleasant, yet a smile was clearly plastered onto her face as she slunk into the shadows. The men and women who filled the bar were clearly drinking way more than their bodies could handle for no one turned as she came in, nor did anyone start yelling in alarm that a minor was currently in the building. laughing and coughing, they talked and played games; teased and joked around with each other. Others looked like they were ready to snap at whoever dared tear them away from their endless drinking session- even the composed bartenders who only moved to make various drinks or clean empty cups. However, the whole atmosphere was nothing but peace and good-humor.
It made Kiana laugh a bit to imagine how these people had come to this place and why. Some probably came for work, for Kiana’s father would drink heavily after a difficult client or when he didn’t get his money. Others, she thought, may have gone here because of a handful of troublesome children like Kiana, herself, and that led her to wonder if her father ever stumbled his way over to the Jolly Rodger on those days she was never home. She made an immediate mental note to stay home and follow her father out someday. maybe even hide in the back seat of his car or inside the trunk.
All this was definitely new. Kiana had never been to a bar before. Sure her father drank along with his many shady ‘friends’ but it has always been in her father’s private quarters where he did all his business and sneaky little Kiana would watching or listening from inside a closet or something. She’d never been to a public place where people were allowed to get as drunk as possible and just have a good time, instead of trying to work themselves out of a deal or get caught up in a heist. Then again, some people in the bar looked quite shady themselves, giving Kiana some dirty looks and all. She would’ve thought that by now she would’ve gotten kicked out, but seeing that half of these men were probably too drunk to take note of her age or her presence, she stood up a bit straighter and walked over to the bar with the most mature expression she could conjure up.
Immediately alert, Kiana’s eyes turned to look at the woman next to her, taking note of the fact that the bartender’s name was in fact Bill. She quickly reached into her pocket and pulled out a motley bunch of bills and coins that Kiana believed was similar to the amount the woman offered up on the counter. ”uhm, glass of water please, Bill.” she said in a mock adult voice. Her tone was deep but failed to hold up as her squeaky teenage voice exposed itself while she pronounced the bartender’s name. Trying to cover up the mistake, she stuck out her chest and held her breath, hoping the bartender would buy it. .♥♥♥ tag;; teresa !words;; 641 !notes;; is okay, that’s my usual post length XP whoo random titles! silly little Kiana ![/blockquote]

Teresa had let her eyes wander to the TV screen whilst she waited, resting her elbow on the counter and her head in one hand, bored and almost hoping someone would start a fight, just so she could watch something a little more entertaining than men whacking a puck across an ice rink. It had been a fairly quiet night so far, something that was generally a strange occurance in the Jolly Roger. A few guys had been on the brink of a fight, but they'd moved out into the street before any punches where thrown. Hearing the person next to her talking, Terri snapped out of the slight daze she'd been in, and glanced over, raising an eyebrow as she looked at the girl. There was no way this chick was twenty one, with a voice that squeaky and such a fresh face. The fact that she was sticking out her chest didn't help much either, and what she'd ordered- water- was a little less daring than some of the kids who'd come in had tried. The bartender may have nodded and taken her money, but he didn't seem all that convinced of this girl's age either, and her order was perhaps the only reason he hadn't said anything: she wasn't trying to get drunk, at least. Terri had once been the teenager who was trying to get herself drunk. After being told by her dad that she wasn't allowed to drink, she'd walked down to the local off-lisence, given a guy money and asked him to buy her a lot of booze in some sort of rebellion to try and spice up her life a little. He had, for whatever reason, done so, and long story short, she ended up throwing up into a waste bin in the local park, about a mile away from her house, in the rain, at about three in the morning. That hadn't been one of her favourite nights from her childhood, oddly enough. It had, however, taught her not to drink so much in a single night again, and that sometimes her father was right about things. Not that she'd ever admit to the latter, of course. She stared at the teenager next to her. "You shouldn't be in here." she hissed, eyes narrowed a little. Although she was happy enough to sit here and drink, she knew it wasn't exactly the best place for someone so young. When they were served their drinks, Teresa sighed a little. "C'mon." she said quietly, motioning for the blonde girl to follow her to the table she'd been sitting at, "Before you get kicked out."Sitting down, the woman ran her fingers through her hair, before looking back at the girl. "Okay, kid. Why the hell are you in the Jolly Roger, alone, at this time of day?" she asked, sounding slightly more irritated with each word she spoke. "And, water? Really?" she added, smirking a little and taking a gulp of her drink. "Rookie move, there... You haven't done this before, have you?" She tried to sound a little less annoyed than she really was- it annoyed her that a young girl like this was in the Jolly Roger, around these people. Heck, she probably wasn't what you'd call a good influence herself, but she liked to think she had her morals in the right place, mostly, and a teenager in a seedy bar did not agree with them. Even so, she had to admit to herself; this girl had guts. Terri had certainly stayed away from places like this when she was younger, and even though the girl had only ordered a glass of water, she'd managed to bring herself here, and hadn't looked all that nervous about it either, surprisingly. Of course, Teresa wasn't planning on telling the girl this, in case it somehow inspired her to continue with such antics.[/blockquote] tag! kiana words! 667 notes! i hope you meant it as their first meeting here? xD [/blockquote]

♥♥♥. Looking around at all the other older men and women sipping their drinks, Kiana certainly felt stupid just asking for water. However, she wasn’t trying to get drunk. That was the last thing on her mind. She knew very well what alcohol and drugs could do to people, but she needed something simple and harmless as to not stick out- even though she practically did. The water was just something to occupy her fidgety hands and to add to the whole ‘look like an adult’ look which obviously failed as the woman next to her turned and began speaking. Maybe Kiana was wrong. Not all of these people were half as drunk as she thought.
Kiana opened her mouth at the woman’s first statement before getting distracted as the bartender came back with a glass of nice cold water. Grabbing it, Kiana followed the lady ready to unleash her usual rage that she inflicted upon the guards her father assigned to watching her. They were constantly bothering her with the phrases: ‘you don’t belong here’ or ‘your father said you can’t be here’ which were usually followed up by the statement: ‘your father sent us to watch you, but you’re so hard headed and difficult! We might as well attach a leash on you and give you a beeper!’ then Kiana would roll her eyes just as she was doing with this woman as she sat down at the lonely table in the corner of the bar.
As the woman spoke Kiana took a sip of her not so alcoholic glass of water and cowered a bit as the woman unleashed what seemed like a lecture her father would usually give her, except this one was riddled with a strong tinge of irritation. However, this lecture was somewhat different. Rookie move? It was beginning to sound like this lady was judging her and expecting a teenage girl like Kiana to actually buy an alcoholic drink. It was sort of like an insult that could have been a compliment if she hadn’t made the mistake of buying water.
With a shrug, Kiana lowered the glass from her lips and shook her head at the woman’s words. ”hey, first of all, no one noticed!” she beamed proudly before raising a challenging eyebrow. Thankfully, no one had seen her, for she would’ve probably been escorted by two burly men, which was much rougher than taking a lecture from a woman. Than again, being literally kicked out of the place would have been fun too, but with the thought of her body guards hanging around, Kiana would much rather get kicked out without starting a fight between her mafia family and a bunch of drunk men.
”I bet I could have been here for a good fifteen minutes without anyone noticing if I had just hid away from you.” She spat back with as much fury as any riled up teenager. If Kiana had stayed in the shadows like she had first intended, whoever this person was wouldn’t have seen her at all, but then again, being Kiana, she could help but get as close to the action as she probably could and that meant looking like she was buying a drink and sitting down at some random table.
”second, I wasn’t here to get drunk. I just wanted to see what it was like in here…” Kiana shrugged lightly, an innocent smile coming to her face as she took another sip of her water. Coming to that bar, Kiana definitely got the adventure she was looking for, but it was way too short to be memorable or worth something. Thus, Kiana was going to try her best to stay or at least stick with this woman and see what happens.
Finishing her drink, Kiana set the empty cup on the table and held out her hand. ”I’m Kiana by the way and I’m not just some kid. I’m seventeen y’know.” She proudly stuck out her chest once again as if the fact that she was just a year older than being sixteen was such an accomplishment. To Kiana it was. She had always imagined being sixteen as that line you have to cross before becoming somewhat an adult. Seventeen was that awkward stage just between childhood and adulthood that Kiana was, unfortunately, stuck at. That was her philosophy and she proudly stuck to it. .♥♥♥ tag;; teresa !words;; 731 !notes;; yup! perfect ![/blockquote]

As the girl drank and proudly pointed out that no one had noticed her presence enough to realise she was underage, Teresa let out a slight laugh. "Yeah, no one else has noticed yet because pretty much everyone in this bar is already plastered." she pointed out, motioning with her hand and glass to the nearby tables. Men drowning their sorrows or trying to give themselves a bit of dutch courage, women taking shot glasses, a group of people huddled around the bar, waiting to fetch another round of drinks for their table. "And I'm not totally sure you fooled the bartender either." Teresa added. "The water was a bit of a giveaway."It seemed like she'd annoyed this girl a little, who was now spurting out her theory that no one would have noticed her if Teresa hadn't. "You're probably right," she admitted, shrugging her shoulders a little, seemingly unfased by the teenager's outburst, "but one of the guys around might have started something if you looked like you were alone." the woman finished, taking another drink and setting the glass on the table. She'd reasoned it was better for this girl to be sitting with her rather than someone drunk who might try making a pass. Even if this teenager was a stranger, Teresa wasn't going to let her get herself into trouble. She had a feeling she already would be if the girl's parents knew what was happening. You'd have to be a pretty irresponsible parent to knowingly allow it. Listening to the girl explain she had wanted the experience, not the alcohol- which had already been obvious by her choice at the bar- Teresa shook her head a little. "Alright... so why pick this run-down old place?" she asked, slightly curious now. Teresa was here because the drink was cheap and just as good as anywhere else in the city, and it was within a reasonable distance. But this girl didn't want the booze, and from the look of her it seemed like she wasn't from this part of the city either. She realised she was starting to get concerned for the girl, a habit she had never quite been able to rid herself of- her somewhat selective protective tendencies, which seemed to be getting more and more frequent. The woman blamed her own childhood. She'd made mistakes, and even though she'd learned something from most of them, she regretted the experiences. Even though she'd not been into a bar like this at a young age, she knew it wasn't a good idea, and she wasn't going to let this kid out of her sight as long as the two of them were still sat in the Jolly Roger. Teresa took the girl's hand and smiled, more warmly than she'd done before, as she was trying to come across as a little less annoyed now. She admired the girl's spirit, not that she was going to say it out loud. "Teresa." she answered. When Teresa pulled her hand away again, she added, "Alright, maybe you're not that much of a kid, but you're still a bit young for this place, y'know." The woman took another drink briefly, before glancing back to Kiana. "Where do your folks think you are?" she asked, genuinely interested in what excuse this girl had thought up, and whether or not it was a decent cover story for her shenanigans. Or maybe this girl had just taken off without saying anything, which had almost always been Teresa's course of action at that age, when she was constantly trying to rebel against her family and how they thought she should behave. ♥♥♥. Kiana nodded at the woman’s statement, cocking her head in the direction pointed out to her. A smile was brought to her face in satisfaction that she was actually right. Kiana loved proving people wrong and just bringing up the challenge was satisfying enough. It seemed pretty much harmless in this case, but that trait of hers has gotten her into more trouble than she usually bargained for. Like one time she had challenged one of her friends that she could definitely run faster. Once they were off, they were unstoppable until said finish line which was a set of trees down the street. They ran and pretty much barged through every person and object in their way. Unfortunately, they were at a street fair and due to their race, they had to shut the whole event down and her father had to pay damages. Boy was he mad.
Shrugging, Kiana laughed at herself as she realized how stupid she must’ve seemed, trying to get water at a bar. Although she thought it was just a bit more ridiculous that the bartender actually fetched her some water without complaint or comment, unlike Teresa who was sober enough to notice a teenage girl standing next to her. Thus, Kiana brushed off her blunder and proceeded to laugh at the bartender instead. Maybe she could become an international spy after all. Her father always thought so, but seeing that he didn’t want her killed or kidnapped or tortured, he refrained from allowing her to spy on other gangs, mafias and clients around the area, despite Kiana’s bold (but what she called self-less-ness for adventure) notion that she could certainly spy without getting caught.
‘you’re probably right’ those words were music to the seventeen-year-old’s ears, yet the smile was wiped right off of her face with her next statement. She admitted to it without a fight. Kiana was definitely grateful she had this woman to talk to and stick around with. She was right. If Kiana was alone at a table or sitting around with a drunken group of men, she had more of a chance of getting into a fight or than being able to escape from the bar unscathed. Plus, if she ever did get into a fight in a place like this, she would not hear the end of it from her mother and father.
Therefore, Kiana was glad she was caught by this woman. She seemed pretty nice and seeing that she hadn’t rushed the teenager out the door, she was probably what Kiana would look like and seem like once she got older- minus the drinking and more like surrounded by a bunch of mafia thugs. Kiana always imagined what she would end up becoming and seeing that she was getting in so much trouble at her age at the moment, she imagined that her father would keep placing guards on her to keep her out of trouble with each coming birthday. By the time she was thirty, she would probably have a whole crowd that was able to make a wall around her and the only way Kiana would be able to get away was if yelled ’beam me up Scotty!’ and giant blue light would come from the sky to poof her away. Yup. That was her plan alright.
The woman’s next question took a while for Kiana to answer. She wasn’t really sure why she picked this place specifically. She actually didn’t pick it, but instead, just stumbled upon it. ”well, i’ve heard of this place before and it was the first thing I saw when it ran into the Marcdavis District.” she grinned, clearly proud of the fact that she was able to outrun her bodyguards for the twentieth time, give or take a few. Although they were assigned to watch her, they were doing a terrible job. Kiana was able to spot on from yards away with their dark tuxedoes and shiny black shoes. They were anything but stealthy. Adding to that, they were large and stout. Her father really did need to grab some fitter people to watch her, for Kiana was getting older and taller. The longer her legs get, the faster she’ll go and the older she gets, the sneakier to can become.
Teresa… Kiana repeated the name in her head as if it was a habit before letting her hand fall back beside her empty cup of ice. ”hah, I’m young for a lot of places, but that doesn’t stop me.” with a nod, she flashed her new friend with a mischievous little grin, which was becoming a trademark in signaling whether or not Kiana had some sort of trickery in her mind. Her father had learned to recognize that look and lock the door immediately, but that didn’t stop little Kiana. She had other ways to get out of the house. The front door was just the easiest.
Taking a deep breath, Kiana had to think once more in order to answer Teresa’s question. Honestly, she had nearly forgotten where she told her parents she was heading off to in the first place, but she knew it was someplace within her father’s borders. "Oh yeah!” She exclaimed, hitting the table dramatically. Feeling eyes piercing through her, Kiana lowered her head and eased a bit further into her chair. ”oops…” Curse my dramatic nature. Was her first thought, before casting an innocent little grin in Teresa’s direction. ”Uhm, I told my parents I was going to the park.” With looks finally turned away, Kiana gained a bit more confidence and straightened up. ”Of course I had to go with a few of my guards but I lost them by cutting into an alleyway and climbing a few fences.” Kiana’s pompous-self surfaced again as she stuck her chest out once again, eyebrows raised arrogantly. Yet finding that she was getting quite a few more looks from her previous expressive outburst, she set her back against the chair and folded her hands in front of her.
"so, uhh, why're you here?" Kiana asked, deciding to get the subject off of her for a little bit. Besides, it would keep her quiet and under control if she did talk about someone else and Kiana was curious about her new friend. All she knew about Teresa was that she was cool enough not to throw her out and that she was definitely not like any other adult she’d ever met.

Teresa could see Kiana considering what she'd said, and smiled to herself a little when the girl didn't bother arguing with it, proving she had a valid point. Not that was out to gloat about it, she was still concerned for the girl, regardless of the fact that they were essentially strangers at this point. She was protective, she knew. It wasn't something she could help for the most part, but rarely was she this bothered with what someone she didn't know did with their time. Mostly because she knew that if someone was asking her the questions, she wouldn't enjoy the interrogation. When the girl happily claimed her age didn't stop her, Teresa let out a laugh. She'd been similar when she was younger, but eventually grown out of that and moved onto her current phase, which was avoiding and ignoring her family and moving somewhere far away so she didn't have to put up with them anymore. It had been about rebelling against her father's sexist ideals at first, but now it was purely the fact that she hated that place, the people, and most of the memories of her life around there. She sure as hell didn't have any plans to go back there anytime soon. She opened her mouth to answer Kiana's statement about the park- a decent, plausible excuse, but the teenager was talking again before she had chance, and Teresa raised an eyebrow, out of a mixture of surprise and confusion. "Did you just say guards then?" the women asked, blinking. She certainly hadn't been expecting that. Although, the thought of this girl outsmarting her 'guards'- whatever that was about- amused her. Maybe she'd been wrong, and Kiana was in fact not the rookie she'd seemed when she'd ordered that water at the bar earlier. Noticing a guy at a nearby table staring at the two of them after Kiana's slightly loud outburst, and shifting in his seat like he was about to get up and come over, Teresa glared at him, daring him to carry on doing so. He turned away again and she rolled her eyes. She'd seen the guy a couple of times before, trying to chat up women who clearly were not interested, or had come in with another guy. Men were always so obnoxious when there was alcohol in their systems. Teresa turned back to Kiana and shrugged. "Long day at work, and this place is closer than home." It wasn't exactly a brilliant reason to be sitting alone in a bar, but it was the truth. There was also the fact that there was absolutely no food in her house at all, and it was cheaper to pop into somewhere on the way back home than get things delivered later. After she'd eaten, she'd ended up here. She took another sip of her drink. "This is gonna have to be my last anyway." she mused. As she said that, something else occurred to her. "Please don't tell me you were going to walk home after your little adventure here." She was back to slightly-stern-sounding-Teresa now. If the girl's parents didn't know she was here, it was a secret. And if it was a secret, they weren't going to be able to pick her up. ♥♥♥. The surprise in Teresa’s voice as Kiana mentioned her guards caused the seventeen year old to raise an eyebrow in confusion. Oh, wait. Kiana had forgot that not all families that their own personal guards. Actually, almost no other family had loyal soldiers of their own. ”Uhh, yeah…” she rubbed the back of her neck and let out a hollow chuckle. ”My family’s kinda… the mafia. Er- a mafia. We have these soldiers that work for my dad and he sends them to watch me.” Kiana explained, fingers fidgeting in front of her.
She wasn’t very fond of talking about her family and what it had to do with the drug and murder circuit. Yes, her father told people to murder others. Yes, her father sold drugs to other people, but to Kiana, he wasn’t too bad of a man. He was over protective and stubborn which fueled her teenage hatred toward him, but she loved him and he loved her just as much (and boy did she know, for she got a whole lecture about how he loved her every time she got in trouble). However, other people hated him for some things he did and in turn, hated Kiana as well. He was notorious among all the criminals and certain shady people around Fantasia City. Kiana was just as well known except they wanted to kidnap her or possibly murder her just to get to her family’s money. It was a dangerous world out there, just as her father had said, but Kiana didn’t care. Maybe she was foolish thinking that way.
Kiana’s dark brown eyes followed Terri’s gaze toward a man at a nearby table. The way he seemed to give up to Teresa’s glare made her laugh. Stifling that very laugh, Kiana couldn’t help but stick her tongue out at the man when he wasn’t looking before turning back toward Terri with a wide smile. ”Dude, you gotta teach me how to do that!” Kiana squealed, bouncing excitedly in her seat. There was a twinkle of admiration in her eyes, for Kiana could help but marvel at the fact that Teresa had so much power as to cause the man to think twice and stay right in his place. Oh how Kiana wished she had that power now. She would be able to call off her guards in an instant then bolt away before they could even realize she was gone. Unfortunately, right now, it was her word against her father’s and of course her father’s over powered her command. However, the thought of being able to do that to someone just fascinated her and definitely added to Terri’s cool factor.
Nodding lightly, Kiana found Teresa’s reason for coming to a rundown place like this quite reasonable. Although Kiana had never been in a bar until now, she’s heard a lot about them. In people’s descriptions they were usually filled with hairy men and skanky old women and so Kiana really couldn’t believe a woman like Teresa could be in here without a good reason. She certainly was beautiful, charming and not to mention hilarious. She also seemed quite understanding and gentle-hearted, but the way she handled that man a few moments ago, Kiana had no doubt in her mind that Terri was some tough woman.
The tone in Teresa’s voice suddenly changed, causing Kiana to perk up in slight alarm, but her sudden frown disappeared as Teresa’s statement made the teen giggle. ”of course I am, silly!” she laughed. ”I can’t just call up my dad and ask him to pick me up here.” Saying so, Kiana couldn’t help but imagine what her father would do if she had the audacity to actually do so. First he would yell at her through the phone then send all his soldiers to flood the place. Glasses would be broken, drinks would litter the floor and tables as well as chairs would be turned over and broken. She stifled another laugh at the thought, trying her best not to draw any more attention toward herself. .♥♥♥ tag;; teresa !words;; 677 !notes;; bah this one is sucky XD -rolls around- terri is HILARIOUS though XD ![/blockquote]

The woman listened, eyes widened and brow raised, not quite sure if the girl was serious or joking about her family. She sounded dead serious, at least, and it wasn't exactly the kind of thing people made up or joked about. Then again, she hadn't grown up here in Fantasia, the common sense of humour could easily be very different from her own. One look at Kiana's face told her that this wasn't the case here. Teresa North was sat with the daughter of a mob boss. Her natural first response was a laugh. "You ditched hired guards?" It sounded like she couldn't quite believe it. If it was true, which Teresa was slowly starting to accept might be the case, she was pretty damn impressed. Slipping under the parent-radar was one thing, but guards? This kid had guts, and Teresa had to admire that. But still... it seemed so strange. And Kiana didn't exactly look the part either, not that she knew what the heck a mafia guy's daughter should look like. She imagined something a little... tougher. Even so, she was beginning to see how things could get complicated. If what Kiana had told her was true, then those guards could come looking for her. And she was pretty sure they wouldn't be too happy if they found the teen sitting in the Jolly Roger, talking to a stranger who was drinking beer. That wasn't going to look dodgy in the slightest to a group of bodyguards. Teresa might of held a blackbelt, but she wasn't sure she'd be able to handle that kind of situation. She shook the thought away, telling herself she was being dumb. Even if it did happen, she guessed they'd listen to Kiana. And she wasn't even totally sure she believed it anyway- she wasn't the luckiest person alive, but running into the underage daughter of a mafia boss in a bar in this district was insanely unlikely. She'd only come in here for a drink or two in the first place. Teresa laughed a little as Kiana stuck her tongue out at the guy who had been staring at them. "Half the time, if they can see you're not as drunk as they are, they don't tend to bother." she mused, taking a slow drink from her glass and setting it down again. "And I'm pretty sure I've argued with him for hitting on a friend at some point." she added, thinking back to a few of her previous visits here. When she argued, Teresa North really went for it. Hearing the girl's plan, Terri laughed like it was insane, and shook her head. "No way." she said bluntly. "I am not going to let a seventeen year old walk home on her own through Marcdavis at night." Whether or not Kiana's dad was who she claimed he was made no difference at this point to her, she wasn't going to let Kiana try and get home by herself. If something happened... well, she wasn't going to think about it. She didn't need to. The situation wasn't going to come up. It was slightly unusual for Teresa to be so concerned for someone she'd just met, but Kiana was younger than most people she knew, and had gotten herself into a situation that called for such concern. She reminded Teresa of herself a little bit as well- rebelling against her father and perhaps a little too confident for her own good when doing so. She remembered it all too well. Teresa leant back in her chair a little and sighed. "Either I walk back with you," she stated bluntly, making sure Kiana knew she was serious, "Or we use my bike if your house isn't close by, right?" It was a toss up between those two solutions, simple as, and she sure as hell wasn't going to let Kiana try and give her slip like she had apparently done with her guards earlier. When Teresa got protective, she really meant it. [/blockquote] tag! kiana words! 686 notes! yay for writing muse at 1am |D [/blockquote]

♥♥♥. As the woman laughed, Kiana couldn’t help but laugh with her. She knew what was going through Teresa’s head for that was the same exact response she got from everyone whenever she explained her background. It truly wasn’t a surprise and Kiana couldn’t blame her. If she was in a bar and suddenly met a hyper little teenager who claimed to be a mob boss’s daughter, she would’ve been just as surprised. Especially since little Kiana was anything but what people would have imagine as someone who came from a mafia family. Kiana had once even imagined herself as what she should have looked like. Dark brown hair, dark brown eyes with dark rings around them and maybe wearing some sort of business suit, surrounded by a million guards. Well, she has two out of the four. Kiana also imagined herself to be taller and burlier, but she was as short and lean as most teenagers- maybe even a little shorter than most. Adding to that, Kiana was a bright blond with perky cheeks and shining brown eyes, the picture of absolute teenage cuteness. No one could really suspect that she’s already witnessed murder and negotiations that ended up in someone’s cruel, painful death.
Nodding at Terri’s question, Kiana couldn’t help but beam at the accomplishment. Her father had been placing guards on her ever since she was little and almost always has she gotten away from them, one way or another. Sometimes she could distract them with food. Others could be talked out of watching her. In this case, she out ran the group of stout men who were probably scared out of their mind to tell her father that they had lost his one and only daughter. Truthfully, she felt kind of sorry for them because their punishments never ended well. If Kiana ever got hurt, she could only imagine what her guards would have to go through when they drag her back wounded.
Thus, Kiana suspected that her guards were out combing through the streets for her, but they were probably looking in the wrong places. They really weren’t the smartest people sometimes. ”eh, they’re easy to trick.” she mused with a mischievous grin. ”just cut a few corners, hide in a few alley ways then badda-boom! You’re out of daddy’s radar.” Kiana nodded her head again, a satisfied look upon her face. Truthfully, though, Kiana was never really sure when she was out of her father’s watch. He always had the guards hide from her. Although some were incredibly easy to spot, others were just a bit more clever. However, seeing that she hadn’t been dragged out off the bar yet, Kiana was certain that she had hidden from all of them.
Kiana giggled at the thought of Teresa getting into that man’s face and telling him off. This woman truly was becoming Kiana’s idol. She was just as feisty, tough and humorous as Kiana hoped to be in the future. Adding to that, this woman had freedom. She had no guards to watch her wherever she went, she had no limitations on what she can do and what she can’t, and she had no parents to tell her where she can’t go and where she can. Plus, Teresa was stern and acted motherly when she needed too.
Although it reminded Kiana of her mother and father, she really didn’t mind that concerned attitude coming from Teresa, but maybe that was just because they had just met. With a light scoff, Kiana shook her head at both ideas. ”nahh, I wouldn’t want you to go through all the trouble, Teresa.” she paused, twirling her finger along the rim of her empty cup. ”I can walk by myself.” Kiana folded her arms and snorted smugly. .♥♥♥ tag;; teresa !words;; 628 !notes;; ahaha XD yay for muse! ![/blockquote]

Teresa snorted. "To be honest, they don't exactly sound like brilliant bodyguards, if you can lose them that easily." She'd decided by now that she was going to simply go along with Kiana's story about her family being the mafia. If it turned out to be a lie, she would simply accept Kiana had her reasons for doing so. It was pretty hard to believe this girl had ditched her guards, on several occasions by the sound of it; but Kiana said it like it was nothing, and like she was being honest about it, too. She laughed as Kiana dismissed what she had said about the girl getting home, already having seen it coming a mile off. If she'd defied her father coming her, and slipped past her 'guards' to do it, she was never going to say yes when someone offered her a lift back home. Teresa took another drink, knowing exactly what she was about to say to the girl, but trying to find a slightly softer way of delivering it. Kiana was still a kid, no matter how she denied it, and Terri had somewhat of a sharp tongue when it came to arguing with someone. Not to mention completely losing the concept of an "indoor voice" at the same time. Mentally, she was telling Kiana every reason why walking home by herself wasn't a good idea. With a substantial amount of swearing involved, too. In reality, she just stated simply, "I wasn't asking. It's a choice between the two.", and her tone of voice made it apparent that she was serious about it. She took another drink of her beer, the glass almost empty now. "Besides," Teresa continued, placing the glass onto the table again, "do you really want to risk running into those guards on the way?"She was aware that there was just as much chance Kiana's guards might run into them if Teresa was there too, but figured it might reassure them to know she hadn't been alone all this time. Either that, or Teresa was going to have a lot of explaining to do later on, a situation she really hoped she wasn't going to have to deal with. "Look, kid. The fact is Marcdavis was a dumb choice for your adventure, and I'm not gonna let you make another dumb choice and try to get home by yourself, okay?" The words came out harsher than she'd hoped, and she sighed a little, rubbing the temple on one side of her head and glancing from Kiana to her drink, then back to the girl again with a slight smile. "I'd only blame myself if something happened." she admitted. It was her who'd told her to sit down and stay here- something she now realised wasn't a very smart idea. Why had she done that? Truthfully, it was hard for her to admit just how concerned she was for Kiana, even if they had only known each other for a short time. The situation they were in definitely had a lot to do with it, she was sure, but she was still far too worried for what could be considered normal for two almost-strangers. She laughed away her thoughts. "And if your dad found out, he'd probably blame me too." she grinned, silently hoping what she'd said would be enough to stop Kiana from arguing about it further.[/blockquote] tag! kiana words! 587 notes! sorry it took a while xD [/blockquote]

♥♥♥. Kiana couldn’t help but unhinge her frown into a giggling grin. ”yeah they kinda are, aren’t they!” she laughed holding her stomach. ”daddy sometimes says ‘good help is so hard to find these days.’” placing her hand upon her hips, Kiana replicated her father’s voice, or what she thought of her father’s voice, deep and rough. She even completed her look by sticking out her chest, rubbing the back of her neck and placing her index finger along her lip as a mustache. ”and then he’d go: ‘hurr hurr Kiana. Stay out of trouble. Y’know it’s dangerous out there.’” the teenager explained in her deep man-voice once again. ”then I would go: ‘okay, dad. I know I know.’” she continued, rolling her arms and folding her arms just as she always did whenever she got a lecture from her father. It was definitely like Kiana to draw out the conversation and act out past events with her many exaggerations, of course. With flailing arms and wild facial expressions, she could tell stories all day, finishing them all, one by one with a giggle fit.
However, her smile immediately faded as Teresa’s voice turned tail and sour once again. The teenager lowered her head slightly, her eyes traveling down to toward the table as if she was being punished. She tried not to listen to half the things she said, but it just wouldn’t work. Kiana was a teenager. She disobeys her parents at every chance she gets and yet, she cannot get herself to block out someone’s words as they lectured her. Maybe she was missing that gene that was so important to teenage life. Usually, however, it was a good thing she missed that gene. It gave her a conscience and a will to do the right thing for she can easily remember someone’s words when said to her over and over again and boy, had she heard this conversation before.
After following a crack in their busty, old table throughout the whole lecture, Kiana slowly looked up and sighed, finally giving. She never really did give in this easily, but seeing that she had grown fond of Teresa in the little time they’ve known each other, Kiana decided to just follow- for now, of course. ”Fine. We’ll have it your way, Teresa, but don’t be surprised if you see my father waiting at the door with a bunch of guys carrying guns.” a slow grin perked the corners of her mouth. ”but they wont shoot. As long as you keep your hands up and stand at least ten feet away from me.” she raised a playful eyebrow before throwing out a playful laugh. ”I’m just kidding- well, with the second thing.” .♥♥♥ tag;; teresa !words;; 453 !notes;; so short! sorry D; my parents are kicking me off >< ![/blockquote]

Teresa chuckled at the girl's impression of her father's voice and her finger as a mustache over her lip, retelling how her father acted around her. Silently, she wanted to add, 'Yeah, and he's not exactly making it safer, is he?', but stopped herself. The woman had no reason to argue with the mafia- for now, at least- and it at least sounded like the guy was concerned for his daughter's safety, which she couldn't really knock, considering where the girl was at that moment. Her own father had been similar, always wanting her to stay out of trouble, but not because he was worried about how safe Teresa was. He wanted her to be a perfect daughter, a little lady he could show off to business partners- and he probably would have tried to get her to marry someone of importance to him, too, if she hadn't got out of there in time. His biggest problem was Teresa, who had constantly disobeyed everything he said and tried to have a little fun- almost ruining her dad's reputation a couple of times. It wasn't that she was trying to do so, but she wanted to be her own person, and that never worked well for the man. He'd planned her college education out for her, too, and been dumb enough to trust her with the funds when she was old enough. She'd bought a motorbike and moved out, and about a year later, ended up in Fantasia City. As she'd been speaking, she could see Kiana wasn't listening properly, obviously not one for lectures, which Teresa could be prone to, especially when she was trying to prove her point about something. She definitely wasn't one for backing down in situations like these. She laughed at the mention of the guys with guns. "I'll keep that in mind." she smirked, taking another drink and finishing the glass off. "Fact is, if you want to rebel against what your dad says, I'm not going to tell you not to." Of course, she'd be a complete hypocrite if she did so, and a hypocrite she did not want to be. "But it's not safe for a kid around here."Imagining trying to hand Kiana back to her family, and men with guns, Teresa wondered just how willing they would be to accept that Kiana had been sat in a bar with her. Yeah, she could just imagine how that would go down with the mafia. Wondering why she got herself into these situations, she sighed a little. "How far is your place from here?" she asked, glancing down to the single motorcycle helmet at her feet. Obviously, she hadn't thought she'd be needing a second one when she'd left home earlier. They could manage without if they needed to, it wasn't ideal but Teresa sure as hell meant what she'd said earlier.[/blockquote] tag! kiana words! 494 notes! short posts ftw. ♥♥♥. Kiana took a deep breath and turned her gaze back down to the grain as Teresa continued her little lecture. She seemed like the complete opposite of the woman Kiana had come to admire at this very bar. She was starting to sound like… her father, and boy did Kiana hate lectures from her father. She’s gotten enough of those through all the times she’d gotten in trouble, but there were more times when she got away with something and came home like nothing ever happened. Of course her guards wouldn’t rat her out when they saw her walk home. They didn’t want to get in trouble with her powerful father. Adding to that, Kiana did have a say in a few things. No, she couldn’t call off her guards but she could threaten them. Just by saying how she can tell her father how horrible they were at watching her, they would keep quiet the whole night as she was escorted in the house and they would play the story that she was happily within her father’s set borders.
Following Teresa’s gaze down to the motorcycle helmet, Kiana grinned lightly at the thought of riding a vehicle like that. She loved to have fun and go fast. Adding to that, her father had only let her ride a motorcycle once and it was going at three miles per hour. It wasn’t exactly filling her need for speed. Thus, she glanced up at Teresa with an eager little look on her face. ”Oo! Can we take your motorcycle?! Please? Please, Teresa?” she begged, sticking out her lower lip and giving the woman her world famous puppy dog face, complete with a soft whimper.
However, she stopped herself momentarily as she had to think about how far her house was exactly. Usually walking to places, Kiana lost track of all sense of time. All she knew was that her house was in Duckberg for it was close enough to the city to do her father’s business and it was far enough away from the city not to seem too suspicious.
And the way Kiana remembered her way back was by remembering certain land marks- or strange shaped trees and rocks that made her giggle. For example, walking over to the Jolly Rodger, Kiana spotted this tree that looked like it was hunched over, ready to pick something off the ground. After that, Kiana spotted an oddly colored rock that was redder than the rocks around it. Her system wasn’t the best, but it helped and guided her all through the times she wandered away from her father’s set path.
Turning back toward Teresa, Kiana bit her lip. ”uhh, I’m not exactly sure how far my house is… but I know its in Duckberg.” she shrugged innocently before folding her hands in front of her. Maybe this wasn’t a good idea after all. Looking out a port-hole shaped window, Kiana shook her head lightly to find that it was a nearly pitch black night and Teresa was probably right. It wouldn’t be safe for a seventeen year old to be wandering through the streets, especially since that very teenager wasn’t even sure where her house exactly was, or how she was going to get there. .♥♥♥ tag;; teresa !words;; 543 !notes;; woot! ahahaha ![/blockquote]

Seeing that the girl wasn't enjoying Teresa's little sermon of why walking home from the Jolly Roger was a bad idea and unsafe, which it was, by the way; the woman smiled a little, sighing to herself, far too stubborn to leave it alone. "Kiana. If you're gonna rebel and disobey your dad, at least make sure you can do it for as long as possible, right?" she laughed. That had always been how she'd seen it- and it had worked pretty damn well, if she did say so herself. She hadn't even spoken to her old man in two years, and the last conversation was just to check that she hadn't been killed yet. He'd sounded almost disappointed when she wasn't. Teresa nodded in response to Kiana's question. It made more sense to take the bike anyway- if they'd walked, she would have to make her way back to the Jolly Roger to pick it up later. She much preferred her bike to any other kind of transport anyway- it was a lot more fun. "I'll have to keep it fairly slow." she said with a slight frown- going fast when one of them wasn't wearing a helmet was clearly not going to be a good idea. Although, Teresa North's usual idea of slow was still barely under the speed limit on most roads. "Duckberg." she repeated, thinking. That wasn't too far from here, it wouldn't take them that long on the bike. She was pretty sure she knew the way, give or take a few turns here and there. There were signposts to make up for that, though. In theory. She'd gotten lost a couple of times before, but it never took her long to get back onto the right roads afterward. The look on Kiana's face showed Teresa that she'd finally given in to a ride home- probably partly due to her eagerness to ride the woman's motorcycle, and the fact that it was indeed pitch black outside by now. She smirked a little, triumphant. "Well, we can leave whenever. It all depends on just how worried you want to make your dad and those guards." Teresa chuckled, quickly glancing at her phone in order to check the time, and then cursing under her breath when nothing came up on the little screen. Dead battery. Again. She turned back to Kiana. "What're you gonna tell them, by the way? That you stopped by the Jolly Roger on your own after you'd lost them?" Because Terri couldn't see that going down so well. She had very little doubt in her mind that Kiana had probably lied a little about what she'd been doing before- a plan that might be wise tonight. And if she'd been serious about those guys with guns, a little white lie to cover up the fact Teresa was essentially a stranger would probably be handy, too. [/blockquote] tag! kiana words! 499 notes! I honestly can't be bothered bumping it to a nice round 500. [/blockquote]
