"There's a girl in the castle!" - Chip
NAME: Charles Isaiah Preston NICKNAMES: Chip, Charlie AGE: Twenty BIRTHDAY: April 1st ORIENTATION: Homosexual NATIONALITY: English OCCUPATION: Waiter (for now) PLAYED BY: Mitch Hewer DISNEY: Beauty and the Beast USER GROUP: Childlike
PERSONALITY !
PLAYFUL! To Charlie Preston, everything is a game. Even the simple task of getting dressed in the morning can turn into a full-fledged competition with himself. How many different shirts go with that specific pair of pants, how many different hairstyles can he try in the limited amount of time he has to get out of the house? He's rarely ever serious, finding laughter and fun in everything and enjoying optimistic personalities above any other type. Occasionally his playful nature can grow rather tiring as it occasionally seems as though proper behaviour isn't taken into consideration and he's always acting very young for his years. Still, it's something that's not easy to remove from him and if it was taken away, he just wouldn't be the same Charlie.
INNOCENT! Having lived a somewhat sheltered life, Charlie is incredibly innocent. He's never had sexual relations with a male or a family and he's also quite naive as far as these sorts of things are concerned. Not only is he innocent in the realm of 'dating' and the like, but it applies in more average areas of his life, too. Charlie finds it near impossible to lie if he's asked a direct question, even if it means the truth will get him into trouble and if he upsets someone it manages to really make him feel guilty in the same way a small child would feel guilty if they disappointed their parents. He still has a lot to learn but certain aspects of his innocence probably won't change any time in the near future.
LOVING! It doesn't take much for Charlie to fall for a person. Not necessarily romantically, of course (he doesn't really have much experience in that department), but a nice gesture or a shoulder to cry on will basically mean he'll adore you for the rest of his life. Once he's made friends or 'taken' to a person, Charlie is the most giving, affectionate and loving aquaintence that can be made. It could be considered a downfall as he often find he receives less than he puts forth, but believing that it's important to treat others the way you want to be treated is a big deal as far as he's concerned. Besides, the size of his heart isn't exactly somethin that can be changed all too eaisly.
QUIRKS: Charlie has a habit of blowing bubbles into his drinks whenever he has a straw and some form of liquid. It's childish and sometimes a little endearing. He also can't do any form of work without singing, and you know Charlie's cleaning or trying to get something done if he randomly breaks into song.
LIKES: Tea, late nights, cuddles, singing, France, nice smiles, fresh flowers, freshly-baked food, rainy afternoons, making new friends, bath time. DISLIKES: Getting in trouble, disappointing people, arguments, bullying, soda, prejudice, rap music, oversleeping, alcohol, secrets.
HISTORY ! Charlie was born outside of London as the youngest of eight children. He already had five sisters and two brothers before he even cam into the world, the oldest of them being fifteen years older than him. His father was a farmer and his mother owned the bakery fifteen minutes away from the property where the large family lived. Charlie's childhood was a very free one - he was riding ponies and feeding chickens by the time he was three, milking cows at five, driving a tractor at ten and going to work to help his father when he was thirteen. He had all the space in the world to grow and learn and play and more than enough company in his seven brothers and sisters.
Initially homeschooled, Charlie decided that he wanted to attend 'real school' when he was twelve and from that point on caught a bus fifty minutes every morning to the closest place of education and another one home in the afternoon. He found out that he was a very social little thing indeed and that he was far happier attending a place with a variety of other children his age than he had been learning the necessary things at home with his mother, a home-school teacher and his siblings. It was soon after this that he realised he needed to get out of the small, nowhere town he'd been raised in and explore the world.
Charlie's mother wept like a baby when he told her he was leaving, but at the same time she knew his personality was too big to really be kept down any longer, and so she gave him access to the bank account in which the savings they'd deposited for him were kept on his eighteenth birhtday and he was off on his own two weeks later. He hadn't been sure where he was going, but when he reached Fantasia City, Charlie never looked back.
He attended college for two semesters before realising that study just wasn't for him and it was really only the social aspect of school that he liked. So, he got a job as a waiter and moved in to a big old house with the people he'd made good friends with, tagging along because it seemed like the right thing to do. To this day, nobody actually knows that Charlie is gay - not because he's ashamed, really, but because he hasn't found the right time or right place to bring it up. Hell, not even his parents are aware of the fact yet, but he figures they'll just find out when he brings a boy home to dinner one day.
SAMPLE ! Stretch, inhale, stretch, exhale, stand, point, spin. Repeat. Quinn Healey couldn't remember the last time her toes had caused her so much pain, twisted and warped against the flattened ends of her ballet slippers. Was there much attention paid to the fact, though? Not really. Determination and drive overrode the pain one hundred times over. If she wanted to pass her physical exam then she would have to persevere and failing simply wasn't an option. Besides, an empty auditorium was quite a rare thing at Emerson institute. All of the different majors offered on campus and the amount of students attending the school made for limited practice space.
Given it was somewhere close to eleven at night, Quinn would've been surprised if she'd had to fight for the space. For many students exam block was nearing an end - the days were getting warmer and summer was creeping up in stealthy silence. It was a good thing her final exam combined both her major and minor in one neat little package - choreograph and perform a piece in front of the curriculum's examiners. The performing part was simple in comparison to showing the individuals on the board something they hadn't seen before. Quinn hoped that her music would at least be something to win them over - a mash-up of contrasting classical pieces and faster-paced, more modern music. A standalone wooden chair had been encorporated into her routine, as well as some very carefully planned out gymnastics.
Whether her piece would be pleasing or not was quite questionable, but she'd done the best she could do thus far and now all that remained was to rehearse, rehearse, rehearse until her feet couldn't forget where they were supposed to go next. Her muscles were beginning to ache and the old stage was certainly beginning to feel the weight of her workout. She remembered being warned about the fact that new lighting had just been fixed in the ceiling and it would be best to keep the music and movement to a minimum, but the drive to perfect her performance meant a certain ignorance to the 'be careful' spoken to her earlier.
All of the females in her course were brilliant. Hell, some of the males could probably dance circles around Quinn, but she wasn't quite sure if anybody else had the strong-headed determination she'd been blessed with. If she failed the first time it would only push her harder, give her more reason to better herself and succeed the second time around. There was no time in Quinn's life for messing around, no way she could juggle her need to prove herself as a dancer with the othe things women her age seemed to indulge in.
No drinking or partying as she could land herself in hot water with her fitness levels (at least not until summer or when exams weren't around the corner, anyway) and certainly no men in her life. A boyfriend would only consume what little time she had to focus on the very thing she loved the most. Of course she'd go to her grave swearing it was nothing to do with any sort of fear of relationships. Men would only let her down anyway, right? Her mother had known that from the start, and it was why Quinn was raised by a single woman.
One more hour. One more hour and Quinn would allow herself to finish for the night. If she allowed it to get much later she'd be quite cold walking back to her room, and pushing too much would only result in feet too sore to practice the next day.
