PERSONALITY !
GENTLEMANLY! & POLITE! Shankar's a very respectful person, raised in a very formal orphanage, he's developed a very formal personality. It's important for him to make the people around him comfortable, or at least feel on the same plane as himself. Never does a bad word come out come out of his mouth, and he rarely has a bad word to say of anyone, even if his opinion of them is not high. He's very careful to scan his words and make sure that nothing he says has a negative connotation if it can be avoided. The traditional senses of these traits also apply. He's polite to women, opening doors and pulling out chairs. He's short spoken but careful not to put people off. Most of all he respects people's privacy, and makes sure never to overstep his boundaries.
AGGRESSIVE! Success is important in Shankar's life, so very much, that other things have taken a backseat or have been thrown out of the car completely. He build his real estate empire through tough and hard sells. Starting out with nothing and building to almost everything required him to sacrifice mercy and work incredibly hard. Aggressiveness is one of the traits that can cause him to seem imposing and threatening, but it's just the manifestation of his drive to succeed. In those times when he's really driven there's a fire in his eyes, and he may forgo most other things to achieve his goal.
LAID BACK! Shankar is a rather laid back man, he's got a sense of humor, albeit mostly dated, and doesn't hesitate to laugh when something amuses him. He's built his real estate business, and now, he didn't do much. His employees take care of the majority of his business, and he deals with the important but easily taken care of problems. He has a lot of free time to himself, and at times takes on special clients. Most of the time though he's just being comfortable.
VENGEFUL! There's something about being wronged that causes Shankar to drop his gentle attitude. He goes out of his way to destroy the doer of a great misdeed. Having been raised in a lower class India, his idea of destruction may not quite be par to something or a middle class american. Whether it be financial destruction or the hiring of some suspicious persons, Shankar's methods may not be kosher. But for sure they'll be vicious.
SOPHISTICATED! Comfortably set in life, Shankar allows himself a wealth of luxury. Times themselves may not be well but if he let himself he would be plump and squishy. But he knows well to keep from spoiling himself. He careful with his funds, and at times donates to good causes. Her spends a good sum of money every few months to send to the orphanage in India where he was raised. He content with nice and not particularly extravagant. He takes care of what he needs and gets a little bit of what he wants. But of course wealth is not the only thing to make one sophisticated, it can just make one rich. Shankar also enjoys reading, and keeping up with the news both local and worldwide. It's important for him to worldly.

HISTORY !
Shankar was born in India, to a poor family living in a rural farming village. He was raised to about the age of 6 in a hard working family, and developed a work ethic. At the age of 6 a mysterious fire in the village burned down his home and a number of others in the village. The village couldn't take care of the orphan children and rebuild. The orphans were loaded into a wagon and taken to an orphanage in the city. The orphanage was run strictly, and Shankar grew from his rural demeanor to a well educated boy, as much as one could be in a poor orphanage. One of the women who run the orphanage believed that education was an incredibly important thing for growing children. With her extra pocket money she bought books for the children. School was also something that Shankar loved at a young age.
Some of his friends from the village had made it to the orphanage with him. While they remained friends in childhood, as Shankar grew older he grew away from them, determination and frustration made him more angry and less friendly. He became frustrated with being stuck in the middle of nowhere, somewhere where he couldn't grow and get better. He felt he needed to go somewhere where it was possible to learn more, and create himself a career. His friends being less enthusiastic about such things grew apart from him. In being left alone her found his saving grace. He had time for himself, time to work and time to plan. He decided that he should leave and go to America. Once, he had heard of a visiting professor to the city, by word of mouth. He was unable to meet this person or learn anything about them but he did hear about Fantasia, where he had come from.
In saving up money from odd jobs and with help from the ladies at the orphanage, as well as a bit of illegal work, Shankar managed to get himself a plane ticket to Fantasia. For most of his teenage years he lived in a hotel near the school, and worked to keep himself fed and clothed. Since he hadn't come through to american illegally he worked through the difficult citizenship system and by his second year in college he became a citizen. He went in university to study architecture, and ended up as an intern in real estate. In the end he finished university and went into realty. Over the years he grew from working in a small office taking care of paper work, to working as a head Realtor. Eventually he started his own office. later in his life he began buying real estate himself for investment. Now he doesn't do much, and has gone into an early retirement or sorts as he still takes some odd jobs.
He doesn't remember much about being a small child in that village in India, but he remembers who took care of him afterwards, and he feels it's important to him to pay them back for caring for him after he lost his family. He donate a large sum of his income to the orphanage, and to allow students to travel from places like that to get a better education.
