"trouble? no way; its only trouble if you get caught!" - aladdin
NAME: alistair dimitri barbar NICKNAMES: al, scoundrel, street rat AGE: twenty BIRTHDAY: August seventeenth ORIENTATION: heterosexual NATIONALITY: arabic-american OCCUPATION: works in a mechanic shop, but also helps as a stage hand at the local theatre PLAYED BY: luke pasqualino DISNEY: Aladdin USER GROUP: hero
PERSONALITY !
CLEVER & MISCHIEVOUS! Trouble? No way! Call him what you like -- scoundrel, street rat, you name it. The boy is simply trying to survive! His attitude may seem a little proud at times for such a low-life -- after all, he does have a bit of a record with the locals for knicking a snack from time-to-time. But you gotta give him some credit -- Alistair knows what he's doing. He's clever -- always one step ahead. His mind thinks quickly, and paired with his agile body, it allows him to make his movements as fast as he thinks them up! But this guy is quite mischievous, and seems to leave a trail of havoc as he goes. His clever brains and mischievous attitude lead for a fun and exciting personality: one that isn't afraid to take risks and adventure. He's brave, and sometimes acts rather upon a whim, without even knowing the outcome.
BOLD! In actions and in words. He really hates people who think they can bully others around. He also hates people who think of him just as a lowly street rat -- which, truly, he knows he can be better than. A big pet peeve of his is when people think they're a lot better than another person. He hates when people are mistreated because someone thinks they have more status. Al will not let a person get away with something so stupid -- and believe me, he isn't afraid to shout a little louder, or say something a little more out-spoken just to get the attention of someone who needs to be put in their place.
CHARMING! Oh, the local ladies can only start. Alistair works full-time at a mechanic shop -- which, he must say, is not the biggest pleasure around -- but he knows how to be light-hearted and humorous. He has a natural charm that allows people to easily get along with him -- well, excluding the people who hate him for his reputation. But Al has had a few relationships in his lifetime, and contrary to popular belief, he isn't the type to have those intentions. In fact, despite his good looks and natural ability to charm the hearts and make women around him swoon, Alistair is still keeping his eyes peeled for his perfect woman.
KIND HEARTED! What? A rotten, thieving scoundrel like Alistair Barbar? Actually, precisely just that! While he has gotten off lucky, with just enough money to get him through, and a place to rest his head at night under a dry roof, he knows deep down that there are other people out there who don't have nearly as much as he does. He is sympathetic, and offers up spare pocket-change, or maybe the chocolate bar he's stolen to those people in the tattered rags that sit on the side of the road, begging for help. It might be hard to see, but Al really does have a soft-spot.
QUIRKS: Al wishes to go back to school; he wishes upon a star every night; secretly like Shakespeare; has a stray dog named Zeebo
LIKES: monkeys, fables and stories, mythology, money, pretty girls, adventure, dogs, summer, the ocean, shakespeare, dark nights with lots of stars, flying DISLIKES: parrots, arrogant jerks, being insulted, being called a street-rat/ scoundrel/ worthless, his job, reptiles, classical music, math equations, greed, stale bread, snow
HISTORY !
Mrs. Barbar was the type of woman to stare out at the vast, endless ripples of golden sand that stretched before her -- to infinity, almost. A sad tale was hidden behind her dark orbs. Only Mr. Barbar knew what she longed for; the ocean. He decided that they were move off to America when he found enough money. But when he went in search of his riches, on a hunt for a job that would lead him to find only the best money, he never came back. Mrs. Barbar stared out at the sands sadly, her hand pressed against her swelled belly, knowing that a baby was growing inside of her -- his son. Her mindset was to travel to America, and to live by the ocean -- the ocean that would sway endlessly, yanking her troubles away with the tide. She begged of her father money to travel, never asking for another favour. He bid her good luck, but warned her about how harsh society could be. She figured she knew well enough; after all, she'd lived near thieves and beggars all her life.
Al was around six when he lost her. His only memories of her now were her warm smile, and kind, dark eyes. She was taken on the streets, coming home from her job as a secretary at an office. Although the killer was never convicted, many people simply brushed it off as gang violence. Alistair was soon brought to an orphanage, where his mischievous, free-sprited nature made his undesirable for adoption. His bold actions and words drove people away, and no one could over-look this, and see the kind heart that was hidden inside -- something he'd inherited from his mother.
It was around ten that Al felt most troubled; he'd escaped from the orphanage nightly, and soon befriended a dog whom he liked to call Zeebo. Zeebo was a stray -- like him -- but was always around when Al dropped off the ladder and fell into the back alleys behind the orphanage. His troubled, clouded mind led him to go in search of dangers in the night -- he had nothing to pay, nothing to give. So he got a rush out of stealing. He only wanted to steal a snack every once in a while, but the locals knew him soon for being the mischievous, smiling boy who provoked the limits of the shop owners, and dodged blunt objects on his way back down the alley, clutching a chocolate bar in his hand. He grew, never getting much schooling, and never being wanted by another home. He was an independent boy, but very much dreamt of being rich; something he knew would never happen, but wished very much for. He was kind-hearted, and dreamt of giving all that he could to those who had none. If he were rich, he'd have everything he always wanted -- and more!
When he was fifteen, he excused himself from the orphanage each day, and got his first job packing fruit at a local market. It earned him enough money, and soon he'd saved up enough to rent out a small apartment in the lower end of Fantasia. By seventeen, he was working full-time at a mechanic shop, but in the evenings he would also work as a stage-hand at the local theatre, helping to set up props, and clean the place and close up every night that it was in use. Alistair got proper schooling, but he'd never taken much of an interest in schooling; he ended up dropping out when he was old enough. He also developed a bit of a liking for Shakespeare when he heard it in the theatre; although it didn't make much sense, when the proper actor or actress read it, it sounded languidly beautiful.
No matter how content Alistair may seem with his life, he still wishes upon a star every night, hoping that he'll get his break -- his riches -- and feel like the king of the world.

Hello, everything seems in order. There's just one thing I would like to address. Orphanages in the United States are still expected to give their children a proper schooling, whether that means they send the children to a public school or they teach them themselves. You say Alistair did not get much schooling except for a tutor. Am I right in understanding the it was a sort of basic homeschooling at the orphanage until he was old enough to "drop out"? So by proper schooling you mean he's never completed a high school curriculum?
