PERSONALITY !
LAZY! Scottie Pike is the laziest bastard in the entire world. That is not an over exaggeration in the slightest. He is the kind of kid who will avoid doing just about everything just because he is physically too lazy to get up off his ass. He asks for a lot of favors from a lot of people. Really, it couldn’t even be called asking for favors. More like he just doesn’t do a lot of things responsible people do so other people do it for him. Why they don’t instead just kick him in the rear and make him get up is beyond Scottie’s ability to comprehend. But as long as he doesn’t have to do anything he is happy. This, naturally, means that his room at home is a disaster and he leaves messes in his wake.
QUIET! Never one to say much of anything, Scottie has always been labeled as the quiet type. He lets his actions speak for him and only speaks with people when he is comfortable with them or when he has to. Sometimes even when he’s with the people he likes most he just nods his heads and smiles or frowns along with whatever the topic of conversation is. Don’t consider him dull or slow, though. There is nothing wrong with him. It’s simply a choice. One is always found to listen better when they aren’t running their mouths incessantly. The upside of being quiet is that is the absolute best to talk to. He’ll hear you out on anything and hardly ever stop you from going on and on until you’ve let it all out.
MISGUIDED! Scott has no proper guidance in his life. His parents are absent for the most part and when it came to topics of importance they mostly took to handing him pamphlets and hoping he would figure it out himself. Unfortunately, Mr. and Mrs. Pike have the laziest son in the world and whenever he was given those pamphlets he tended to stick them out of side so he didn’t have to deal with them. This lead to a lot of problems for Scottie. He can’t always tell you what’s wrong and what’s right and tends to go along with whatever crowd he’s with. This means he sometimes makes good decisions and he sometimes makes bad ones. They never balance each other out though, and mostly the bad outweigh the good.
QUIRKS: Often will not speak for days. Eats when nervous... or bored.
LIKES: eating, sleeping, having people do things for him, Daphne, snacks, cake, candy, cigarettes, cheesecake, puppies.
DISLIKES: being active, sports, sports on tv, going outside, being dragged along to things he doesn't want to do, being told no, listening, speeches, vegetables, health food
HISTORY !
It’s a funny thing not having a name for the first week of your life. Just ask S. Pike, or as he’s known now, Scottie. If it were indecisiveness or laziness on his parents part, he wasn’t quite sure, but neither of them had even bothered to think of a name for their child until after he was born. It wasn’t as though his birth was a surprise and his mom had him in a toilet at a K-Mart. He was a planned pregnancy. But still, when Marie and Allen Pike were faced with a pink faced infant they still could not come up with a name. They left the name portion of his birth certificate blank for a whole week. The only think they had settled on had been the letter S. So the nurses called him S. Pike, baby Pike, and a few of them even opted to call him Spike. It was after seven full days when his parents settled on a name and scribbled it on to his birth certificate. Scott Pike. Scottie, as he would later become known.
Scottie grew up distanced from his parents. They were prim and proper people with respectable jobs. His father worked in construction, his mother a secretary. They kept friends and had a certain outlook on life but, despite planning their son and completing their family, they weren’t very good parents. Not that they did anything to personally harm Scottie. It was almost as if they just forgot him a lot of the time. There were particular times that Scottie could pinpoint. Once, while getting ready for a vacation, they packed up the car and got in, driving off and leaving behind their seven year old son. They were gone for about a half hour before they remembered they’d left Scottie behind and came back for him. Of course they didn’t mean to. They just weren’t the brightest bulbs.
They were absent parents too. Never sitting Scottie down and telling him the difference between right and wrong. They didn’t teach him about health hazards or puberty or even the birds and the bees. Apparently they thought schools were responsible for that kind of stuff. And they were lucky that schools, for the most part, covered those subjects. Not that Scottie listened of course. Doing homework was like doing a chores and Scottie just didn’t do chores because they were boring, he didn’t want to, and his mother would do them if he waited it out long enough. Although dim, like his parents, Scottie knew how to get people to do things for him.
Enter the Rolophus family, god Scottie couldn’t even tell how old he was when he met Daphne Rolophus, his best friend from the time they met onward. After their meeting and a few months of being decent friends, Scottie immediately became a fixture at their home. The difference between the Rolophus family and the Pike family was that the Rolophus’ didn’t forget about their children, they didn’t parent at a distance, they didn’t allow their children to trudge along ten feet behind them in life. And they didn’t allow that of Scottie either, even though sometimes they put up with more of his behavior than they would from their own kids, simply because he was just that good of a charmer.
But despite his friendship with Daphne and his in with the Rolophus family, Scottie still found time to make bad decisions. Like smoking, sometimes drinking, and other bad habits kids his age eventually picked up. He could blame the smoking and drinking on his father, the rough and tumble construction worker did have some bad habits. But Scottie liked to distance himself and his habits from his family.
He could blame no one but himself for his behavior.
