“When you're curious, you find lots of interesting things to do.” - Walt Disney
NAME: Alice Leigh Harcourt. NICKNAMES: None. AGE: Twenty-three. BIRTHDAY: July 17th. ORIENTATION: Bi-curious. OCCUPATION: Waitress at her parents' restaurant. NATIONALITY: English. PLAYED BY: Amber Heard. DISNEY: Alice (Alice in Wonderland). USER GROUP: Heroine?
PERSONALITY !
CURIOUS! Curiosity might have killed the cat, but at least the cat died happily. Alice is a very curious person, and is always asking questions (even if not out loud). She loves to learn, and is one of those weird people that actually enjoyed homework. That is, when she could stay focused. The girl has the attention span of a fly, to put it lightly. She has a habit of putting her nose where it doesn't belong, though will butt out if told. Overall, Alice is just very fond of exploring the world and learning new things.
PASSIONATE! Alice is definitely a very passionate person, all about living life to it's fullest and experiencing everything one can. When she has her heart set on something, she goes for something full throttle, and nothing can stop her. Except maybe something shiny. Short attention span, remember? Anyway, Alice is optimistic, but not to the degree that she's lost sight of what's realistic; when she's latched onto a happy thought, she'll cling to it and probably try to get you to also. And when she decides to speak her mind, which she does quite often, she can get very into it, and you can definitely tell when she cares about what she's talking about.
DARING! There is a fine line between bravery and stupidity, and Alice is often right on that line. The girl is definitely bold; she's not afraid to try new things and experiment. But she doesn't always think things through, which often leads to trouble. Reckless is a good word for her, and she'd be the first to admit it. Though at least she's not shy. Confident is definitely another good description of Alice, and it's pretty obvious within five seconds of talking to her that she has no problems with speaking her mind and isn't shy in the least.
FRIENDLY! Nobody's perfect in this department, and Alice is no exception. But she gives it her best shot. Alice is relatively easygoing; it's not easy to anger her, but it can be a bit easy to frustrate her (she doesn't like it when she finds she's incapable of doing something). However, for the most part, Alice is a happy person with no real grudges against the world. And her happiness is reflected in her general personality and demeanor. Usually she's very friendly, and very caring. This doesn't mean she walks around babbling about sunshine and rainbows and fluffy bunnies all the time. She's just not a dark or depressing person.
IMAGINATIVE! Alice has a mind that's constantly in motion, constantly thinking and analyzing, even about the smallest and seemingly most insignificant details. She's also extremely creative, and uses that super active mind of hers to come up with some pretty interesting things. Alice is very inventive, and a good problem solver since she's so good at creating solutions. She's also quite the daydreamer, and you can often find her zoning out, especially when she's bored. Her imagination can be pretty wild, and this is what she uses when writing stories on her own.
QUIRKS: Easily distracted, tends to babble when she's nervous or bored, raises brow often, picks at nails, bites lip when nervous or thinking, gets frustrated when she can't do something right.
LIKES: Exploring, trying new things, hiking, outdoors in general, tea, coffee, apple juice, the color blue, burgers, summer, curling up in a warm blanket during winter, learning, reading, classical music, shopping, talking, stories. DISLIKES: Getting lost, sadistic/cruel people, tomatoes, asparagus, being too cold or too hot, bossy people, injustice, rap music, failure, being bored, too much dirt, cold showers, mint.
HISTORY !
It all started with Alexander and Amelia Harcourt, a newlywed couple living in London, England. The couple owned their own restaurant, a little place called Mia Bella. They had just opened the restaurant, right after getting married. So for the first few years, Mia Bella was their primary focus. But then Amelia found out she was pregnant. The couple was overjoyed, and decided to wait until birth to find out the baby's gender and decide on a name. Nine months later, Amelia gave birth a little girl. They named her Alice Leigh, after their mothers. The baby was always a happy one, and rarely fussed. The couple was thrilled about this, since it meant they could actually get some sleep. It wasn't really until she started crawling that they had any problems with her. From the get-go, Alice was into absolutely everything. The house was a constant mess, and one of her parents had to constantly follow her to make sure she didn't hurt herself. But she often escaped them, and they'd find her a few minutes later pulling dishes out of a cupboard or pulling a plant off the coffee table. It wasn't long before they learned to put everything up high enough that she couldn't get to it. But even that didn't always work, because Alice quickly learned to climb.
It was even harder when she started walking. She got into even more than before, and it got harder to keep track of the little ball of energy. Because so much attention had to be paid to Alice, not enough attention was going into the restaurant. Eventually, Alex and Amelia decided it was time to hire a nanny. And so Bertha came into the picture. She was a loving nanny, but very stern, and it was her that first began to really instill manners in little Alice. She was an old-fashioned woman, as well as just plain old, and she would never put up with Alice's tantrums (not that Alice had many). Bertha was the one that first started using a child leash on Alice, though that really didn't end well. Alice would often manage to wind the leash around Bertha's legs, causing the woman to trip. Being the very observant child that she was, Alice learned that when she did this, Bertha would get frustrated and take off the leash. And so she continued doing it until eventually, Bertha gave up. But Alice and Bertha didn't have to deal with each other for long. When Alice was five, her parents decided they wanted to move. The family went to the city of Fantasia, and reopened their restaurant there.
After awhile of growing up in Fantasia, Alice lost her English accent and instead picked up the native one. She started school right after the move, and found that she really loved it. The outgoing little girl made friends easily, and really enjoyed learning. But her teachers constantly told her parents that she was a daydreamer, and needed to learn some focus. She never really did, except with one hobby that they found for her. Amelia gave Alice a journal to write in, and at first Alice tried to actually do it the normal way. But she quickly found that recording her own life wasn't that interesting, so she began writing random small stories in the journal instead. Eventually she progressed to writing in notebooks. When she was sixteen, her parents got her a laptop, and she began typing up many of her stories. It was quite clear that she had a talent for it, as all her English teachers would say. When it was time for her to go off to college, Alice majored in Literature and really excelled. The entire time, she was writing little stories on the side, and she had decided to become an author. When she graduated, she got a job at her parents' restaurant, which they say they might give her soon, since they have begun to talk about retirement. She continues to want to be an author, though has yet to try and publish anything.
SAMPLE !
Ah, school. Some days it was great, full of new information and potential for learning. Those were the kind of days that Maxine Warren loved; they were the days when she could sit in classrooms for hours with no complaint, happy to be there learning -- which some might find odd for a girl of seventeen. Other days were like this one, where they were boring as hell. There were just some times when the senior just wasn't in the right mood to learn. She could blame it on senior-itis, but considering the school year had only been in session for all of one week, blaming it on senior-itis would be unfair. Besides, it wasn't like the first three years of high school hadn't had days like this. But Maxine was pretty sure it wasn't a good sign for her to be bored out of her mind so soon into the new year. Even history had been hard to stay focused in, and that was her favorite subject. For most of the school day, Max had sat staring out of a window, but really she was seeing the beaches that were so common in the city of Santa Ria, not the tall trees and lawns outside the window pane. Yep, she'd spent most of her day just daydreaming about sleeping in and spending waking hours in the sand, which is how she'd spent most of her summer when she had free time.
Today she would have preferred the relaxed living of summer instead of the learning environment of Norrington. Something had changed. Maybe it was because this was her last year and she was just read to be done. Or maybe it was because the school was now completely different, what with all the boys coming in. Maxine approved of the addition of the males, because to her it had been stupid to not have the school be co-ed in the first place. However, the boys coming in also made life a bit distracting, and not just for her. Max had to admit she was rather annoyed by all the babbling obnoxious girls that were constantly blabbering about how they were so excited the school was now co-ed, and which boys were the cutest, and how they wanted to try to sneak into the boys' dormitories after curfew. Boys were great and all, but Maxine wasn't as totally obsessed about them as many other girls her age were. For crying out loud, she had never even had one boyfriend. And interestingly enough, she was completely fine with that. She really didn't understand the desperate desire to have a boyfriend and lose one's virginity as soon as possible. Maxine was just not like that.
She considered all this while trudging down the streets of downtown, which she'd gone to as soon as school had finished. She'd only paused long enough to change out of her school uniform before zooming out to the parking lot to leave. After some deft driving she'd ended up in the busy area that was downtown Santa Ria. It had taken awhile to park, as it usually does, to everyone's great annoyance. After abandoning her car by a meter, Max had began the walk to her favorite coffee shop, a locally owned place she liked to sit and relax in. Her favorite table by the window was open and she quickly claimed it while waiting for her coffee. Once they called out "non-fat mocha" she jumped up, grabbed the beverage, and returned to her seat before anyone could think to steal it. Then she pulled a text book out of her bag. And promptly knocked her coffee over with it. Quick reflexes allowed her to upright the coffee fast, but not quiet fast enough. "Ah, fuck," swore the blond as she quickly made a grab for a napkin. The little stream of coffee she just spilled was making a quick exit off the edge of the table, and Maxine worked fast to wipe it off, cussing some more as she noticed the bit of brown on the thigh of her pants. Once the coffee had been hastily mopped up, Maxine stomped over to the nearest trash can and tossed the wad of soggy napkins into the abyss. Muttering to herself the whole way, she stormed back over to her table and reclaimed her seat. She shot the remaining coffee an evil glare as if daring the cup to tip over again, then picked her book back up and reopened it. And with the coffee drama behind her, Maxine began to relax and enjoy her drink while studying.
