PERSONALITY !
RELUCTANT! Eve has been reluctant to trust people since she can remember, always a little doubtful even as a child. It was her first instinct to distrust everyone and everything, knowing full well there are things out there that aren’t to be trusted. It was instilled in her, she believes, by her parents who were equally as untrusting of everything – except one another. Still now, she always assumes the worst in people before they prove her wrong, and she finds it difficult to trust people. Usually this means she has to work very hard at friendships and relationships because otherwise they have a tendency to fall under her spell of failed relationships and she ends up alone. Again.
SARCASTIC! Her favourite kind of humour. Who cares if it’s the lowest wit? She certainly doesn’t, and enjoys people she can bounce back and forth with as far as sarcasm goes. She’s witty and intelligent, and it shows through her humour. In her opinion, if you can make a girl laugh, you can make her do anything, which means she often keeps her wits about her when around funny men. Unwilling to succumb to love, Eve pushes people away and keeps them at a distance with her witty and often sharp tongued retorts. It’s a defence mechanism, but a blood funny defence mechanism.
DETERMINED! Once Eve sets her mind to something, it’s very difficult to stir her wrong. She appreciates people backing up her ideas and plans, but in the end she is very strong willed and will simply do as she pleases. Obviously, she regards rules and laws, but for the most part will do whatever she likes – even at school she proved to be a little mischievous by being so bold, but always backed up her actions with logic and well thought out opinions. Even when she was much smaller than her friends, mainly boys, she was always determined to do as they did – be is climbing to the top of the tree, or jumping off the top of the slide. She broke a bone once or twice, but as soon as she was fit and healthy she’d go back and try again without a second thought.
COMPASSIONATE! Despite seeming cool and a little blunt on the outside, Eve certainly has a soft squishy centre. Eve is very passionate about justice and helping others, often being able to put herself in other people’s shoes. Had she chosen a different career path, she’s sure that she would have done something in psychology or counselling as she finds it easy to empathise with people, despite never having lived those circumstances. She has a lot of compassion for people in situations they can’t control, for example people in third world countries and children as the victims of abuse. Sometimes it gets to her and she’ll cry, despite not being a cry-er, but for the most part she can stay strong and be there for those who need it – be it by raising money, or emotional support.
QUIRKS: she clicks her heels together when waiting , cracking her knuckles a lot , sleeps very heavily , has many plants in her flat , puts her tongue between her teeth when she giggles , leaves finished books on benches with notes inside , will stay up all night to finish something & often makes notes of songs that would on her life soundtrack.
LIKES: high heels , milkshakes , bubble baths , nature , being outside , cleanliness , new things , shiny surfaces , coffee , cool breezes , brick read houses & ducks. DISLIKES: clinginess , repetition , ignorance , obnoxious people , torrential rain , intimidation , violence , honey , cigarettes , black socks , chickens & baseball.
HISTORY !
Eve was one of many. In a family where she was one child of five, she really was just your generic middle child. It was a loving family, and everyone got what they needed, but she certainly wasn’t doted over as much as she’d have liked. With an older brother and a further three children following shortly after her, she was just another baby amongst many. It wasn’t her parent’s fault – they had their following son soon after Eve, and then a baby boy a few years later. It was easy to get caught up in the drama and chaos that was their daily life. Eve’s mother was a stay at home mother come childminder, often meaning that their house was full of children who weren’t even their own. As a baby Eve didn’t notice, but as she approached childhood it began to irritate her. She had to share all her toys and sometimes they’d get broken. She grew not to trust the others with her things and to not be materialistic, disregarding all gifts with apathy. It was hard as a child, especially for Eve as she was one of the older children, but she learned.
Growing up some, she soon realised that a lot of the children her mother looked after weren’t paying for her services. When she questioned her mother about this, she told her that it was okay – she didn’t need the money, and otherwise the kids would be tossed around with various friends in unhealthy environments. For the first time, Eve began to show compassion for people in lesser circumstances than herself, and it was the beginning of something that would become her passion. She attended school as soon as she was old enough and craved new knowledge from the word go. She was always inquisitive and asking questions, eager to know more about the world around her and, particularly, other cultures. She was bright and excelled during lessons, but was often found in detention or being held back after class because of her outspoken behaviour. Never one to hold back her opinions, as she learned more about other things, she grew more able to voice her opinion and would frequently tell off her more ignorant classmates about their wrong opinions.
This followed her through to high school where she joined the debate team, shortly kicked off for her fiery temper and getting too raucous. She began an activist for human and animal rights, often spotted staging some sort of sit in or petition to help someone. For weeks on end she would spend her time dedicated to one topic and trying to raise money. She did some crazy things. From shaving her head, to going without food, this girl has attempted everything to make a difference and wants to continue on into her career. Her mother doesn’t approve so much, and her father isn’t too proud, but they have so many children to be proud of, Eve is sure it doesn’t make a difference. Since the age of twelve, her mother had managed to have two more children before having her tubes tied. Eve was glad, despite being very fond of her baby brother and baby sister. They only pushed her to do more to change the world – she didn’t want them growing up in a horrible place! No.
So climate change, trafficking and general mistreatment of humans became her target and she moved from a small town in Canada to Fantasia. It was the appeal of a bustling city, knowing full well that the more people, the more impact she could have. She was new to town and a little irresponsible, but determined to make it work and make her parents proud by changing the planet. Soon enough she got onto an internship at an animal rights organisation for a few months with the prospect of a job at the end. She was delighted, but had to keep a job up at a local book shop to keep living in her flat. It was small, a bit grotty and not at all nice but Eve improved it by bringing flowers and plants into her life. The kitchen was sleek and clean, thanks to her love of neatness, and the flowers bought it’s urban appeal. She loved her home, despite it not being the nicest of places, and she was sure that Fantasia would be the making of her.
