"Squaw no get 'em firewood! Squaw go home!" - Wendy
NAME: Gwendolyn Pamela Darling NICKNAMES: Gwen, Wendy, Wen, Doll, Mom AGE: Nineteen BIRTHDAY: June 21st ORIENTATION: Heterosexual NATIONALITY: British OCCUPATION: Student and part-time nanny PLAYED BY: Miranda Kerr DISNEY: Wendy USER GROUP: Heroine
PERSONALITY !
MATURE! Gwen has always acted older than she really was, and much wiser beyond her years. It was partly due to the way she was brought up, in a rather strict English home where manners were of utmost importance. She was taught even at a young age that manners were what people admired most, and especially what young men admired in young women. Tantrums were looked down upon, and therefore when Gwen was angry she would simply go for a walk, and had to learn to deal with not being able to vent to her own parents. Though for the most part she was quite put together, and it has always been that way. When she was younger, she would play with toys like any child, but was also trained to talk to adults and hold adult conversations, and had always been good at talking to anyone, really. Among her friends she was usually referred to as 'mom,' as she was the most mature, and always seemed to be giving advice whether her friends asked her for it or not. Mostly due to the fact that she’s always been quite reliable, her friends would ask for advice and she’d happily provide it.
DREAMER! Anything to do with romance definitely has Gwen’s attention. She loves classic stories of romance and chivalrous men sweeping women off their feet, and has probably read Jane Austen novels dozens of times over. Always the calm and collect one, to catch Gwen out of her element, just watch her around a boy she likes. She doesn’t get tongue tied, but rather talks too much and doesn’t know when to stop. She's always been quite the talker (as her mother would say, she loves to hear herself talk), but when she's around a boy it's hard to get her to shut up. When it comes to the boys she likes, she gets easily jealous if she sees them with other girls. She’s not the type to confront the situation, but will rather brood and act mad toward him and said girl involved. Though it's not only romance she finds fascinating, but really any type of fantasy story. Her favorites include mermaids, princesses, cowboys, and it’s something she’s liked even when she was a child. Even today she'll gladly pick up an old cowboy classic or even occasionally a pirate novel, though she's not overly fond of pirates. She grew up making up many stories to tell her brother and sister, and acting them out before they went to sleep, and now she still enjoys telling similar stories to children.
BRAVE! Don't be confused. Gwen isn't the type to jump off a cliff or ride a motorcycle on a building's edge. She's brave in the way that she'll stick up for what she believes in even if she's the only one. If she thinks something is right, it's hard to get her to change her mind... almost impossible. This could almost be confused as stubbornness, but she just looks at it as devotion. She is loyal to her family and friends, and would do just about anything for them. If needed she will gladly stand up and defend anyone who needs it, and does not care what anyone thinks.
NAIVE! Despite the fact that she is no longer a child, Gwen still holds a bit of naivety that she had as a child, and has yet to grow out of it. She dislikes the idea that she had to grow up at all, which is why she does quite enjoy getting lost in books and the stories that she tells. If she had the choice she would gladly go back to adolescence where life seemed to be much easier than it is now. She has also always been able to see the good in people even if they can't see if themselves, which is probably the most naive part about her. Not that she doesn't know the world is a bad place and that there are bad people living in it. She does, of course, but she just likes to think that people are bad for reasons and can easily be changed.
MOTHERLY! Gwen has always loved little children, and knew at a young age herself knew she’d love to become a teacher. Having a knack for stories, she seemed to attract young children with her wild stories of far away lands, and soon would have tons of children sitting among her hanging onto her every word. She’s always been the motherly type, happy to baby-sit for neighbors or family members, and especially her own siblings. Being the oldest, she took her responsibility over her brother and sister seriously though they mostly saw it as her being bossy. Not that she isn’t, she is, and has no problem laying down the law with them. Though for the most part she makes such a good leader and motherly figure because she is extremely caring. She cares for pretty much anyone who needs it, unless they have done something rude to her or deserved it, though even then things can be forgiven.
QUIRKS: She will often day dream all throughout her day, and will lose track of time.
LIKES: fiction novels, stories of all kinds, little children, sewing, talking, romance, manners, chivalry, traveling, handsome men, fantasy, dogs DISLIKES: people with no sense of hygiene, people with no manners, rule-breakers, arrogance, jealousy, being an adult, liars, men who cheat, boring parties, quick-tempers, crudeness, boys who are clueless
HISTORY !
To say Gwen had a pretty normal upbringing (as boring as that is) is quite true. She had quite the normal life with normal parents, and nothing really out of the ordinary to cause her to look back on her childhood and make her wish it had been different. Quite the opposite, in fact, since she often wishes she didn’t have to grow up. Her parents met while both in London, her father busy making a living in a small London bank, while Mary was trying to figure out what to do with her life. The two soon were inseparable, and despite his temper, the two were married and looking for a large home that they could raise their children in.
Gwendolyn was they’re first born, and being a girl, she was taught from a young age everything she would need to succeed in life. She was to be a young lady, who would be just like her mother and marry well and one day have many children of her own. Wendy found all of the studying of ‘prim and proper’ lessons to be quite boring at times, and soon found herself staring out the window daydreaming about a more exciting life, and creating outrageous and vastly creative stories in her head. Her imagination was quite vivid, but her father disliked the idea of her stories and warned her not to fill her head with such things.
When her mother was pregnant with William, she was more than happy to have a brother to spend time with and play with. Though after he arrived, she was told not to play outside in the mud and stay away from rain puddles, while Will was able to have much more freedom then she ever was. Though luckily for George and Mary, Gwen was not too fond of mud anyway and was always the best behaved child. At night she would secretly tell Will stories of fairies and pirates, even if her father hated the idea of ‘made-up nonsense.’ Though she still found time to dream and tell her stories, despite her constant need to be a lady.
As she grew older and still was a well-behaved child, she was often the one looking after her brother, and when her sister came along, she looked after the two of them. They were much less well-behaved than Gwen, and when her parents would go out, all Gwen needed to do was start to tell a story and soon her brother and sister would be easily controlled. Time went by quickly and her parents would wonder exactly how Gwen got them to behave.
Her family soon picked up and moved to Fantasia City when Gwen was about ten, and while Gwen was sad to leave London, she was excited for new surroundings. She soon adjusted quickly and even though she hated the idea of growing up and becoming an adult, she knows that it’s inevitable.
Now that Gwen is older she would eventually like to write down some of her stories, as she has so many and thinks they would make great books for children and adults alike. But for now she’s working as a nanny and attending college, and would eventually like to become a teacher, something she’s always seemed to have a knack for.
SAMPLE !
Despite the fact that Woody was no longer a sheriff, in his mind he still was. So he didn’t have the badge or really the authority to keep the peace, but he still couldn’t let certain things go on. Walking in the park if he saw something, he would stop it. Eventually he was being known as some sort of super hero type around the park, and he really wouldn’t mind. How else would he feed his ego? Plus, there seemed to be a lot of mischief happening, and all by one crazy person.
Walking around the park, he wasn’t sure where he wanted to go, but soon found himself in New Orleans Square. Different restaurants offering odd foods soon were in site everywhere, and lines for two very popular rides seemed to never end. He had thoroughly enjoyed the Haunted Mansion ride, but the line for Pirates had always been ‘not worth it’ long. At least to Woody, because everyone else seemed to deem it worthy. Today it was the shortest Woody had ever seen it, and decided to give it a try. Why not? He had to see if it was worth it.
Twenty minutes was all it took, and he was next in line. He could hear someone complaining about wanting front, and rolled his eyes. People were so demanding. Though Woody had to say if he had to wait a minute more, he would start to complain too.
Thankfully the boat showed up quicker and Woody, like a gentleman, let the rest of the people on first before he got in, and the boat was off.
He had to admit the ride was exciting, but he had never found pirates to be all that interesting. I mean, most of them looked like they hadn’t bathed in, well… ever, and they stole from people, which was against what Woody believed in. So, no he didn’t find that aspect of the ride fun, despite that they were most of the ride, but it was too late to turn back now. The line had taken forever, and plus it had a drop, which so far was the most exciting part.
Though maybe it would prove to be exciting after all. He could see the boat in front of him, and he could clearly see, despite the dark, that someone was standing up holding what looked like a gun. Well, first thing, he was standing which was against the rules. The animated voice at the beginning mentioned five times not to stand or leave the boat, and all limbs should remain inside. Second, he had a gun, which he was pointing at all of the people in the boat. Not on his watch.
Yes, he was breaking the rules himself, but at this minute he didn’t care. They were still moving, heck they were on a ride for Walt’s sake! But Woody didn’t care. He pushed past the people in his own boat until he was at the front, and close enough to the one where this joker thought he could just pull a gun on people. Standing up, he could clearly see who it was, but he had never learned his name. But he knew him all right. He was the one who pulled most of the pranks that Woody tried to stop in the park, and this was probably another. But this one wasn’t funny, and from where he was he couldn’t tell if the gun was real or not. “Hey pal, put the gun down would ya? Let the people enjoy the ride.” He could see the people were obviously frightened, most of them being elderly, and Woody would do his best to take control of the situation.
